Dreamt of this haunting woman with an insect-like mouth the other day. In my dream she was engaging in vicious, silent fellatio while staring into my eyes. Her throat felt ice-cold, with a source of strange, stinging warmth in its deepest part.
For a while the only sound was the jingling of her jewellery, which was hewn out of a strange, silver-like metal that did not exist on Earth. When I was about to climax, she started eating my groin area, like a mantis eating the face off of a captured insect.
Instead of feeling pain, however, my sense of pleasure grew manifold as the mantis-girl devoured my physical body. I felt a wave of ecstatic pleasure that I could never feel in waking life. As she gnawed me out of existence, the girl kept whispering, begging in a sibilant voice that emanated from her chest;
“-Ignore me… Pretend you don’t care… I like it better that way… I like it better that way… Please…”
It was an awfully realistic dream.

It is believed that all vertebrates descend from the larva of a filter feeder that stopped metamorphosing, staying in its mobile juvenile stage for life. Much like tunicates today, the adults would have been simple animals with two syphons to filter out nutrients from the water. This ancient transformation is thought to be the basis for the incurable disease Retromorphosis Maligna, where dormant genes reactivate and remodel the body into its "adult" sessile form.
Over the course of 1–2 years, retromorphosis patients will undergo a series of changes:
Atrophy of limbs and fusion into a single "stem", with digits extending like roots to keep the body stable.
Simplification of the digestive system into a water-filtering tube, with either end turning into an ingress and egress syphon.
Complete degeneration of the nervous system.
Once started, this disease is incurable and lethal, though brain death tends to occur before the ceasing of metabolic function. The onset of retromorphosis appears to require a genetic predisposition, with environmental factors triggering it later in life. These factors are not yet understood.
On June 2, 1991, passenger flight 283 from LA to Newark lost all contact with air traffic control somewhere above Kansas. The aircraft never landed, and no remains were located after an extensive search.
Ever since, rumors of a "ghost plane" have surfaced among aviation enthusiasts, who claim to have seen flight 283 attempting landings at various airports around the world. Over the years, descriptions of the plane present it as gradually more decayed. These sightings have sometimes preceded aviation accidents in the area.
Retired air traffic controllers claim to have heard radio interference in the 121.50 MHz band, reserved for emergency communications, around the time of "ghost plane" reports. Despite that, no communication has ever been firmly established with the craft.

The fringe Parasitic Encephalization Theory claims our nervous system is a parasite that took over the body of the earliest vertebrate ancestor. It captures 20% of the body's resources, while staying separate from the blood and being considered unique by the immune system.
While very few defend this theory, one fact supports it: If the body dies while the skull is open, the brain and spinal cord sometimes detach and briefly flail outside, in what could perhaps be an ancient host-seeking reflex.
