i get that with all the big names playing in the us open mixed doubles, there's a lot of hype and interest, but it's important to remember that they snubbed ACTUAL mixed doubles players like jan zielinski and hseih su-wei just for this performative "tournament." like what do you mean it replaced the actual mixed doubles tournament? just because they're great singles players doesn't mean that us open can just shove doubles players aside for more content for fans to eat up. i get it, it sounds cool to have all these great players together like emma and carlos or iga and casper, but make it a exhibition tournament with a prize or something, but not fully replacing an actual part of the tournament. very disappointed at us open yet not surprised at the ploy for more views and tickets. for this reason, i personally will not be tuning into the mixed doubles matches. zielinski even posted about it, saying him and hseih couldn't even go and play despite being great mixed doubles players.
