Silver smiled, grateful that he could take some chocolates. His tail swished happily as he dug into the basket and took a few of the candies. He was soon happily nibbling upon them as they walked, glad for the candy and the company.

"I wish I had someone like you to travel with. I may be really awkward…but it gets lonely." Silver said, shrugging a bit, "But oh well!"

He yawned, realizing only then that the sugar was getting to him.c

Avery smiled a bit and took a few chocolates himself once again, and then also bits of fruit.  He blinked a bit at the comment, sort of not understanding, eyes widening just slightly for a moment before returning to normal. "Someone....like me?" He asked, tilting his head slightly. That was certainly new. "Oh. Well, you know, if you ever want me to travel with me or want me to come along, you can always ask...I'm usually at the inn in my room if not in another town. I typically come out at night when in Selphia, to be honest, if I come out at all...." He muttered a bit and nodded, then smiled a bit reassuringly. "If you're lonely, I'd be happy to accompany you. It's not like it's trouble or anything..." He said, looking off for a moment into the distance in deep thought for a moment. "If I might ask though....why someone like me?" He asked, the thought sort of boggling his mind....why someone boring like him, he thought?

Silver did his best to glance at the sun, shading his eyes a bit as he stared into the sky for a few minutes. “Well, it’s starting to go back down…I’d say it’s about three or four. So….about four hours of daylight left. We should be able to get somewhere by then!” Silver exclaimed, proudly looking at Avery after his possibly careful deduction. It could be a lot later than that—Silver was only guessing.

"May I..uhm, have a chocolate?" Silver asked, glancing at the large baskter brimming with sweets.

Avery glanced in the same direction Silver had, then nodded. "Yes, that seems quite plausible..." He said, looking to Silver again and then smiled slightly at the smaller boy's enthusiasm and sense of pride. "Good job. That's helpful." He praised. "Yes, it seems we should be able to get somewhere within that time constraint, hopefully." He said with a nod.  "Of course. You need not ask, really. What's mine is yours....I really could use less of this crap anyways, to be honest." He said with a nod and rolled his eyes at his own negligence for his health when it came to his addiction to sweets. He really probably needed to eat things of more nutritional value every once in awhile.

Silver nodded as the both of them began to walk. He attempted to use some sort of direction skills in order to pinpoint where the next town was, but usually he became distracted and nearly went off the path several times to investigate something that he claimed was ‘interesting’, which probably became a nuisance fairly quickly.

Silver was glad that Avery was coming along, as not only were the sweets delicious, but Silver had taken a deep liking to the man.

"Alright…erh…well, I suppose the next town is coming up at some point.."

Avery's eyes darted around a bit while they walked, typically being very keen of his surroundings. This was certainly new, to be sure. He hadn't really traveled with anyone before, that he could think of.  He nodded as he popped another chocolate into his mouth and looked to Silver for a moment. "Yes, I'd imagine so. At which point is the subject in question." He pondered. "It is not too big of a deal...I'm in no hurry or anything, honestly. But if we do not get there before nightfall or something of the like I suppose we will have to camp out...but we still have a little while before then, I believe." He said, admittedly having no clue what the time was, but the sun was still out, so. If he had an issue with anything, it was most definitely never keeping normal hours or not knowing what time of day it was.

Silver shrugged, “You seem fine to me!”

Of course, that was Silver. Once you got past his awkwardness, you realized just how happy and bouncy he could be. Like a month-old kitten exploring the world for the first time. He didn’t care that Avery was apathetic, or monotone, or even vacant. Silver’s own enthusiasm more than made up for it.

"So…uhm…I guess we just walk.." He said, nodding to the path, "Since I’m not sure where we’re going.."

Avery blinked and then simply shrugged back. He wasn't sure if the smaller boy perhaps just thought he was being modest or something of the like, but either way, he didn't seem to care terribly much.  "Hmm...alright then." He said nodding and then beginning to walk. "I'm not really sure either..." He muttered, taking out a cookie and throwing it into his mouth. "You can have whatever you like, by the way...if you want." He said, sort of holding up the basket of sweets and whatnot to specify what he was talking about.

The boy had to laugh a bit at Avery’s comment. Of course he knew how heavy and hot his hair was-he must have been living with it for years. It was a silly comment on Kiel’s part, but the other’s comment struck him as funny for…whatever reason.

Kiel nodded, heading into the kitchen to get two cold glasses of water. He listened intently to Avery even as he got the cups from the kitchen. “She always complains when she gets home about how hot and sticky she is underneath-and then spends forever cleaning out the inside of her armor,” he made a bit of a face. 

As he brought Avery the water he nodded. “I would imagine and with how heavy it is and everything it’s probably horrid.” he tilted his head to the side slightly, examining the black locks before returning his gaze to the taller man’s face with the ghost of a smile on his expression. “So how would you handle it before? Would you leave it or just struggle for some time before putting it up?” He asked.

Avery blinked slightly at the smaller boy's chime of laughter, and simply smiled vaguely and nodded.  "I am sure. Armor can be more than a bit stifling in this heat, I can imagine..." He said, huffing a little bit at the mere thought of it. Of course, he had his hair to worry about, but the thought of having to willingly put it on every morning before entering the sweltering summer heat must take a lot of dedication, which was actually rather admirable, in a sense.  "Yes...,most certainly." He said and very gently gripped the glass of water and took it from Kiel, bringing the edge of the cup to his lips and savoring the cold water, finishing the glass in a matter of a few moments. "Well." He continued after finishing the water, still holding the glass carefully in his hands. "Both, to be true....I deal with it just being there quite often, unfortunately, due to the painstaking annoyance it takes getting it up on my own." He said with a nod. "However, there are days when I just simply am more than a bit sick of it...well, no, that is every day, actually. But...some days that I just simply must put it back, even if it involves some struggling and irritation on my part." He said, sighing a bit. "Both options weigh out pretty equally, when all is said and done, in terms of being annoying." He huffed.

"Well…." Silver started, "I was honestly just heading for the first town I could find. I haven’t taken this path before, so I’m just gonna follow it. I didn’t bother bringing a map…I’m not good at reading them.." Silver admitted, but looked up at Avery and shrugged.

"B-but, if you want to come, I’d love that!" He then exclaimed, his demeanor changing suddenly, "I don’t get to travel with others often."

"I see." Avery muttered with a small nod and then bit into an apple, taking quite the large chunk from it. Not good with maps? The comment initially worried him a bit- was that really....well, safe? But in all honesty, he did the same thing more than a little often, so he couldn't talk. It wasn't necessarily that he was bad with maps, moreover just didn't ever bother with them, not really seeing a point. He was more than self-sufficient, even if he did wind up lost and ended up having to stay in the wilderness for a day or two before he ran into another town or something of the like. "I cannot say I don't do the same thing....but just make sure you are wary, alright?" He expressed his concern, biting into the apple again.  The tall dark haired man thought for a moment as he sort of mindlessly ate, looking at Silver for a moment and then glancing around, almost as if inspecting the surrounding area for some reason or another. "Well...alright then...I guess it can't hurt." He said with a nod.  "If you want to, at least....I must admit, I am not exactly a very fun or exciting person." He replied in his vacant tone of voice.

"Oh…uhm…th-thank you again." Silver said, giving a nod. He tried to be a kind person. Not many in this world were, and his mother had once taught him that just being kind to others (so as long as you are not taken advantage of) can easily serve to make the world a little brighter.

"W-Well..uhm…" Silver then said, trying to think. After all, they couldn’t just stand there talking in the middle of the road forever, "I may have already asked this…but where are you heading? Maybe we’ll be headed in the same direction?"

Avery nodded, grabbing a chocolate and popping it into his mouth. "Yes....of course." He said after swallowing it. The cat-eared man had proven to be very kind, himself, even if the situation had warranted a strange first encounter.  The ebony-haired man tilted his head a bit. "Hmm....I wasn't headed anywhere in particular, actually..." He said, being pretty honest. He probably either was naturally absent-mindedly going back to the inn, or perhaps would have just walked around while finishing his "meal". "I kind of just go where my feet take me sometimes." He said, blinking at him. "Where were you headed...? I wouldn't mind going the same way...if you would like, at least." He said with a small nod.

Kiel gave him another one of his sweet smiles as he nodded, “It’s no problem. I like to help. It’s probably a lot better than it all resting on the back of your neck anyway,” he said brightly.

He stepped off the chair and returned it to the table. Briefly glancing at the clock standing in the corner of the room, he leaned on the chair. “Did you want anything to drink?” he asked, “we don’t have a lot, but you’re still looking overheated. Are you sure you’re okay? I mean, my sister gets like this sometimes with her armor and complains about how she needs to stay cool, so I’m guessing it’s kinda the same thing?”

Avery smiled a small smile back. If there was one thing he had to admit about Kiel, it was that his smile was rather infectious. He nodded and rolled his eyes at this. "You're telling me....yeah, it's definitely a hassle." He said with a sigh and a small shrug.  "Hmm? Oh, yes....if it's not any trouble. Do you have any water, perhaps?" He asked, figuring that was probably what he needed anyways, and the best thing to ask for. He didn't want to ask for something ridiculous like apple juice or chocolate milk....even if those did sound extremely satisfying. "I see." He said and then thought about it for a moment and nodded. "Yes, I guess it would be relatively similar. I'm sure the armor would be much worse, however, given her entire body is clad in it." He said with a nod. "But yes, I imagine it's a synonymous struggle. Another awful thing about my hair, unfortunately, is the color really is just...terrible when it comes to absorbing heat." He said, messing with part of his ponytail now, holding a few strands of it and then letting it fall again.

Blistering Summertide || OPEN

A sweatbead formed on the towering man's brow, wiping it off with the back of his hand. He sighed as he made his way around Selphia through the scorching summer afternoon, his hair pulled back into a massive ponytail. He originally was going to just grab some food and go to the observatory, but that seemed like a really...well, bad idea now.  He walked into Porcoline's Kitchen, ordering some cupcakes and then making his way back outside...regretfully, of course. He should have just ate inside and then went back to the inn or something. This is what he got for actually leaving in the daytime and not in the evening or nighttime, he figured.  He walked to Dragon Lake instead, figuring he could eat and then swim for a bit. No one was there at the moment, surprisingly enough, so it was an opportune time.  He sat down in the grass, shoving a chocolate cupcake in his mouth. The melody of the birds and cicadas was actually rather nice- it wasn't as loud with the bustle of people as it typically was around other parts of town at the moment.  His orange eyes looked to the glittering lake, pupils turned into tiny little slits from the amount of light they were intaking. He blinked, thick eyelashes looking down at his cupcakes as he shoved another in his mouth.  He hardly noticed the sound of footsteps until they were clearly in the grass. He didn't even bother to look over and just stared at the water, instead. He highly doubted they came here to communicate either, anyhow...

What is your favorite dream?

"Favorite dream...?" He asked quizzically, before thinking for a moment. "I honestly don't have many...I guess I do remember distinctly this one dream from when I was a child, however. I remember having a dream that I was lying in a meadow underneath the stars....it was full of flowers and the sound of the ocean waves crashing against a nearby shore were almost lulling. It was very peaceful...it was really even more fantastical at the time, since I hadn't been out of my industrial town."

Silver shrugged, “I-I’m not really sure…uh…I guess…because you’ve been kind to me, even when I was a bit…weird to you.” Silver said, nodding once. Yes, that was it. That was why Avery deserved thanks. He was kind, even when a stranger touched his hair without permission. Even when the stranger bombarded him with questions.

"So thank you. For being kind to a stranger."

Avery's eyes widened a tiny bit, vaguely surprised by the answer he received. He didn't hear things of that caliber very often. "Oh...I see." He said, and shook his head. "Like I said...there's nothing to worry about. I've had weirder." He said, smiling slightly.  "It's not a problem, honestly..." He said, looking away for a moment before his gaze turned back to him. "You seem very kind as well." He said, his expression rather flat again with a definitive nod.

"I do." He said, almost smiling, but stopping himself. "What would I wish for...? Hm. I guess just to find my way in life."

Silver nodded slowly. he was watching Avery’s expression change constantly. It was a little…strange how the expression would go from a small grin back to his seemingly usual blank face. Silver wondered if he had some trouble expressing things, or if smiling truly wasn’t a habit of his. Of course, the cat-boy was too nervous to speak up about it.

"Well, thank you." Silver said, unsure of why exactly he was thanking him. Nevertheless, he smiled.

Avery huffed a bit, a bit sick of well....himself, really. He knew he must have looked a bit off, changing his demeanor like that and not really being as comfortable with smiling as he should. It felt....foreign, in a sense. Almost like it was something he wasn't supposed to be doing.  He blinked back to Silver again upon hearing him, sort of just staring for a moment. Did he...thank him?  "Oh. Okay. You're welcome......." He muttered, and tilted his head curiously. "Though, for what is it that you are thanking me for, exactly?" He asked. He couldn't...well, recall anything he had done needing any thanks, but he also wondered if perhaps he had missed something.

Kiel stepped up on the chair and waited for the other man to pull his hair back. He gave a nod, but realizing that he probably couldn’t be heard, gave a verbal answer. “Yep! It’s perfect, actually. Just give me a second…” he murmured as he wrapped the twine around Avery’s hair and tied it tightly. He was careful not to make it too hard to hurt him, but he definitely didn’t want his hair to fall everywhere. 

"Is that too tight? Or is it okay?" Kiel asked, trying to look around to face Avery without falling off the chair. "I think I got all the hair…I think," he repeated queitly.

"Alright." He said as he tied the twine around his hair, and he shook his head. "No...it feels fine." He said with a nod, and carefully unwrapped his hands from the hair and smiled slightly, happy to feel it in place behind his head.  He turned his head and smiled back at Kiel. "This is good....it feels much better. Thank you very much." He said and nodded, his smile falling once more. "Sorry about that...I hope it wasn't too troublesome or out of your way." He said, blinking for a moment, realizing  the boy was trying to maneuver around on the chair without falling and turned to face him fully instead.

Sweet tooth Strikes Again || Dylas & Avery

He definitely wasn’t expecting a response like that. He was just getting more uncomfortable. He knew how it felt, to be avoided or disregarded by others. Yet this stranger seemed to have accepted it long ago, whilst he was struggling against it.

"The only way to fit in is to change yourself," Dylas stated bluntly, though he was almost speaking to himself rather than Avery.

"All of them." Dylas stared at Avery for a good few seconds, his voice flat. "You’re pretty damn weird." He finally shook his head, before pivoting on his heel and going to the kitchen. "Sheesh, you’d think he depends on sugar for happiness or something,” he muttered to himself on the way. Explaining the situation to Porcoline was somewhat awkward. Before his boss could protest, he quickly took the chocolate cake he was holding, and began to search the rest of the kitchen for anything.

The ebony-haired man blinked over at him, sort of just staring for a moment again before just looking off again. "Indeed." He said, tapping his fingers across the table, almost as if he were acknowledging that it was a self-reflection as well, and then huffed a bit. "I'm not really particularly looking to fit in, necessarily though....if I manage to fit in somewhere somehow, it will be wholly being who I have grown to be." He said with a nod. "I'm not going to change who I am simply because people aren't fond of it....and I don't expect them to grow fond of it simply because I'm unwilling to change to fit their needs....if I change along the way, that's one thing. But changing to meet a social standard...? Wouldn't that just be 'pretending'?" He asked almost curiously. He wasn't questioning him so much as he was trying to follow Dylas's train of thought. He looked back over at him at the pause, and looked back with only his eyes this time at the sound of his voice. "Yes....I am well aware of that." He said bluntly, looking off yet again as Dylas walked away, muttering something about sugar and happiness, and Avery couldn't help but smile ever so slightly. If he was saying something about him being dependent on sugar....well, it wouldn't necessarily be incorrect.
