I wish you grew another set of teeth in your twenties. Like i’d take so much better care of them if i had another go. Let me try again

Really, really sucks that because you were clinically depressed from the ages 12-16 and neglected your teeth you now have to deal with painful dental issues for like the rest of your life, lol.

in class and we were told to pull up chatgpt on our laptops to experiment with and the guy in front of me pulled up a deli menu and started looking at sandwiches

Everyone say thank you american indigenous people for cultivating corn, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, cacao, pumpkin, squash, and anything i missed. Makes life more meaningful globally
Yes actually I will not shut up about how these foods are from the Americas/cultivated by the people there, and did NOT exist in Asia, Africa or Europe before the 1490s, there was an absolute food revolution going on in the 1500s. Whatever you think is traditional food for your country? Check again, you’ve maybe only been using that ingredient for maybe 500 years. Here is the full list of crops, it is very interesting :))
the thing about capitalism is that at a certain point a product reaches its maximum audience and cant really be improved (at least not while remaining profitable), but capitalism requires a product provide infinite growth, and at that point the only way to increase profits is to raise prices, cut corners, and in the case of services start adding advertisements. this is just how the system works.
Rent-seeking is the act of growing one's existing wealth by manipulating the social or political environment without creating new wealth.[1] Rent-seeking activities have negative effects on the rest of society. They result in reduced economic efficiency through misallocation of resources, reduced wealth creation, lost government revenue, heightened income inequality,[2][3] risk of growing political bribery, and potential national decline.
The actual economic term for this parasitic behavior is "Rent Seeking", as in "charging you rent for things that didn't used to cost money just because we can."
The old saying "Capitalism Breeds Innovation" is very much true. Problem is that the only innovations it's incentivized to cultivate are those that increase capital for the innovator.
Capitalism didn't create your smartphone. People invented it, and they would have regardless of the economic model under which they worked. Capitalism invented smartphones that you can't repair on your own, that break like twigs that become artificially obsolete every other year, so that you keep buying new phones.
Capitalism didn't invent streaming media. Capitalism invented a way to make you pay every month for something you don't actually own, which can be taken away at any moment. And then found a way to show you ads again even though you're already paying.
Capitalism's innovations are planned obsolescence, rent-seeking, subscriptions. The worse something is, the more often it has to be replaced, and the more money we have to spend. Like it says in the name - capitalism is concerned with capital above all else, and is ruthlessly efficient at maximizing it to the detriment of everybody else.
