Listened to Confessions II today…I mostly avoided all the marketing, videos and music prior to today to ensure an unbiased experience…I don’t get FOMO easily…and I also have a mild yet sincere appreciation of Madonna’s music….so self-isolation was easy enough for me.
I sort of agree with the critics, at least in terms of overall score (whatever that really means). The album fulfills the promise by the album’s title and I think it does a great job keeping the album interesting while also moving towards a meaningful conclusion. I think the synergy (favorite buzz word) between the songs work to the album’s benefit and despite having 16 tracks, it doesn’t really feel too long or labored. I could see a set like this played out very naturally on stage.
Having listened through it twice, my favorite is probably Love Sensation, with Feel So Free, One Step Away & The Test following behind.
As an album, I did enjoy it enough as a whole…definitely a great example of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. However, if songs here were intermixed in my playlist of other songs I already listen to, I don’t think I would enjoy them as much on their own (don’t come for me, blame my playlist). I think the latter half of the album, which feels more “confessional,” could stand better on their own to be fair though. To not go through the typical route of comparing this album to the 1st Confessions, I think considering the rather rude/unfair critiques Madonna has been dealing with for quite awhile, I think I was maybe hoping for a “quieter” yet more focused power like from the “Ray of Light” album…but more dancey (did I describe anything rational?) …but you know…I am not the artist.
While the collaborations on the album were fun enough, I didn’t feel like they had the same transformative effect on the album as Price’s production did. I do feel the collaborations worked better in the 2nd half….possibly again due to the themes in that half of it.
I think that is all I have…fun to pretend to be a music critic. Adios
Created a patchwork of leftover fabrics…I have an idea for it a project for later…drove me a little mad but I love it. Homey but in a weird way…speaking of…
Chris you’re in great danger from me.

Chris you’re in great danger from me.
Finished this beauty…it is both very Pride Month and Orange Cream popsicle.
Also sort of Hey Headmaster…the slightly askewed stripes captures the song’s mood to me.
My tomodachi islanders really seem to like Introspective.. i mean me too
Pet Shop Boys
Last Annually post this year….hearing in my head the possible glee Chris feels by the idea of failure…it actually a bit inspiring.
