6. ken
if he wanna be chaotic for tiny bit, he will run and stop on Daisuke's back, and rip off his shirt with all might LMFAO
Thanks to a previous post, I wound up having this idea in my head.
Remember that Ken's memory of his first adventure into the Digital World was spotty. He barely remembers any of it. It doesn't even appear he remembered Ryo or Milleniummon all that well.
So, the plot that came to me was that as time went on, Ken is slowly regaining his memory of his first adventure. The reason behind this is because the Dark Spore's influence on him is near non-existent. I say 'near' because I like to think that the Spore's presence will always be this lingering threat, but as long as Ken still has his support system, he'd be fine.
Since the Dark Spore had lost its influence on Ken, Ken's memory of his first adventure starts to return little by little.
And, at some point, Ken gets a clearer memory of Ryo. He remembered how Ryo helped him navigate in the Digital World and cared for him. He remembered how nice it was that someone was giving him attention for a change (since this was when Sam was still alive and their parents doted on him more).
Ken starts wanting to find Ryo. This could potentially drive a wedge between him and Davis. I don't think Davis would feel resentment towards Ken over this, but he would feel a little left out. However, Davis wouldn't want to take this away from Ken. After all, Ryo was probably Ken's first ever friend.
And Davis might feel a little jealous of that, but won't have it against Ken.
And, of course, Ken would realize what he was doing was kinda hurting his current friend indirectly and the two would further reforge their bond.
Oh, and Ken's searching for Ryo somehow reawakens/revives Milleniummon. I didn't really think this part through yet.
In a lot of the recent Digimon films, there was a focus on Tai and Matt. Makes sense. They're the first duo.
I'd like for a new movie (or even a short anime) focused on Davis and Ken's friendship. Was it there in Digimon Adventure 02: the Beginning? Sorta, but the movie was more focused on Lui and his backstory.
Okay...I haven't seen the 2020 reboot of Digimon Adventure (and I don't plan to), so I had no idea this happened:
Spoilers, I guess.
You mean to tell that Milleniummon...the Digimon that Ken, Wormmon, and Ryo faced during Ken's first trip into the Digital World. The same Milleniummon who, upon death, released a Dark Spore that infects Ken and would influence him to become the Digimon Emperor...
...Became a major antagonist of the reboot and was soundly defeated...
...I just...
They could've made a movie (or maybe a short anime) with a story about Ken, I don't know, starting to remember Ryo and wanting to find him and it somehow revives Milleniummon.
Okay, so over at my main blog, I ranted/vented about the Armor Digivolutions. I sorta wanted to try and brainstorm some reimaginings for the Armored Digimon.
The first I’m gonna tackle is:
The Digimental of Courage
And, yes, I am going to refer to them as Digimentals instead of Digi-Eggs cuz…well, Digieggs.
According to the DigimonWiki (not Wikimon, to avoid confusion), Digivolutions with the Digimental of Courage would have something to do with fire and/or dinosaurs. Keep in mind, wikis such as this were made by fans, so I don’t know if this was lore from the creators or just an observation made by fans from seeing the other Armored Digimon.
I can see it, though. Because, a way to look at it is that the Digimon the Crest of Courage was tethered to in 01 was Agumon, a dinosaur-like Digimon with fire-based powers.
So, let’s make that the criteria, then. The form of the Digimon ‘wearing’ the Digimental depends on the Digimon tethered to the Crest the Digimental is connected to. I’ll probably even come up with ideas for redesigns that would fit the Digimon better.
Also, while I might try to incorporate all three, it's not necessary to do if the Armored Digimon is just okay and as long as the Armor and overall look of the Digimon is possible to include.
And while I can understand that the Armored Digimon can either be a standalone Digimon or could even evolve from other Digimon with the same Digimental, I’m sticking to the 01/02 canonicity, if you will.
Outside of 01/02, its fair game. Every Digimon mentioned here is valid.
Let’s begin.
Digi-Armor Energize!
Veemon and Flamedramon
Veemon is already reptilian in nature (and some dinosaurs are considered reptiles, just to keep in mind), so that checks out. The armor is nicely designed with the blade and crest of the Digimental visible.
…Alrighty. I can definitely see a connection to Hawkmon in Allomon…mainly with that large feather that’s sorta like Hawkmon’s and maybe the feathers. However, there is no indication of the Armor and having it be Allomon (based on the Allosaurus) is a bit of a bad choice. Other prehistoric animals that can fit better for Hawkmon would be ones that could have possessed feathers, like the Wulong.
Some illustrations of the Wulong showed a curved toe (not unlike the Deinonychus), so maybe this version of Hawkmon’s Courage Armor could have the Armor’s blade located at the toes as the ‘terrible claw’.
Yeah. I don’t like it. Again, no indication of the armor or how it can be connected to Armadillomon. Really, what can make stuff like this work would be having the ears resemble Armadillomon’s (like with Submarimon) and have the fur color match Armadillomon’s color. The Armor can be placed in a way like the armored wildboars in World of Warcraft and/or to still resemble Armadillomon’s armor. The tusks could be changed to the blade.
…What? Oh! Prehistoric! Well, there were prehistoric boars, such as the Megalochoerus and Entelodonts. I’m not sure if either coulda had tusks, but ya know. Creative liberties and all that.
I don’t even know where to begin with the redesigning and reimagining! So, scrap the whole thing (ie, Baromon is his own thing).
What prehistoric animal could resonate with Patamon…
Well, there’s the Synthetoceras. I just realized that I might be deviating a bit from the ‘dinosaur’ theme. However, I am sticking with ‘prehistoric’. Cuz, honestly, I can’t find dinosaurs that could help deviate things a little for the other Digimon.
Anyways. Synthetoceras. I typed ‘prehistoric antelope’ and among the results was this fella. I can see ways some resemblance to Patamon could be placed, plus the Armor.
The purple markings on the face and ears does help with a loose connection, but that’s about it.
The Issoire lynx is the only example of a prehistoric lynx I could gather. It is believed that the Iberian lynx could be a descendant of the Issoire lynx, so maybe this version of Lynxmon could bare more similarities to the Iberian lynx (like having the long tufts of fur her cheeks) and, similar to the reimagine Boarmon, have most of the fur be white to match Gatomon and add a bit of Sabertooth in there, but replace the fangs for the blades, like reimagined Boarmon’s tusks.
Honestly…it’s fine. Just make the dark green a few shades lighter to resemble Wormmon, change the eyes to blue, and there you go. Not sure where to put the blade though…
And to keep up with the prehistoric theming…again, nothing much to do. Insects such as moths, butterflies, and dragonflies haven’t really changed much over the years…except for size. Supposedly, the size of an insect is tethered to the amount of oxygen in the air. Back when there was more oxygen (like 300 million years ago), insects were HUGE!
So, nothing to change here, really, except for some slight color changes.
I'm not too sure how young I was when I started watching Digimon. I wanna say maybe like...9, if not a little younger, in the early 2000s.
At the time, we didn't have flat screen television. What we had was one of those big box TVs that looked like it was made of wood.
Anyways, I was scanning through the DirectTV guide for anything to watch. Kid me found nothing to watch. Not even Pokemon was on. This was waaaaaay before streaming services were a common occurrence.
Then, I saw that Disney DX (or Jet X, I honestly don't remember) had Digimon on. I've noticed it before, but never bothered to give it a watch (Pokemon supremacy! lol). Until now.
It was Adventure 01. Late into the series, I believe. Kari was in the Digital World and I think she was possessed by Homeostasis.
And my hyperfixation only went up from there. When my folks started buying VHS tapes from a video store, I saw the first two seasons of Digimon and did not hesitate.
I don't remember how I got into Pokemon. But I still remember how I got into Digimon. ^^
And when I realized that Digimon has taken a hold on me like Bleach, I thought 'How about a separate blog?'
And here we are...
Hyperfixations.
Gotta...gotta love 'em.
In all seriousness, I never thought I'd hyperfixate on this franchise again after sooooooo long (like..maybe a decade or so). But here we are.
In terms of shows, I'm more likely to talk about the Adventures series (01 and 02), but I'll talk about the other ones...at least the ones I've watched more of (Tamers, Frontiers, and Data Squad).
