Fresh off the press: bills for TØYEN TIMEBANK! It is vital that we recognise and celebrate people’s voluntary participation in their neighbourhoods, and encourage more people to get involved. A time bank does just that, by giving people a system which makes it easier to invest time in their neighbourhood. Simply put: for every hour contributed by a citizen, they earn one time credit which can be used to access events, learning, cultural/leisure opportunities, or to trade time with neighbours. With inspiration and support from the British social enterprise Spice Time Credits, Områdeløft Tøyen in cooperation with Nedenfra organized an event where the concept of time as a local currency was introduced and tested.
