I now drift afloat... the Wayne comic is done and I have no immediate small scale purpose to fulfill. So I've just been scribbling and getting back to work on previous projects. Aaand getting ready for university.

Slank & Marx dressed as Lupin guys. Well. With Slank, you wouldn't REALLY be able to tell since he really is just wearing a suit, but y'know what this is.

I love how far out their legs will swing in Lupin, it's fun to exaggerate. Also, I really liked filling in the gradient of the smoke in the Jigen drawing, so I did the final pass with the sketch brush so I'd be able to retain that.

Captain Wayne - A Brute and his Boat is a fan comic, and finally seaborne! Created out of appreciation for the insanely wacky characters and countless hours of fun in Captain Wayne - Vacation Desparation.

I overscoped this one waaay too much to be done on any of the Christmas days (we've got two in Germany, and none in my home country!), so you're getting it now.

I didn't really expect it to be this big, since this comic followed my usual modus operandi of making these, which is that I have a much too vague idea in my head for a funny comic, start sketching it out then come up with a lot of jokes and the story itself as I go. I even started inking the first couple of panels before I even knew what Slank would gift Marx or what the final panel would be, and I kept adding more details to everything like form shadows, cast shadows and spotlights!! (How do you stop starting every sentence with "I"...)

The start of making this was a bit of trouble, since I've been in a bit of a funk with digital art for a hot bit now. I still make a bunch of it, I just tend to have trouble picking a good inking brush, what kind of texture it should have or if I even want it to be anything but perfectly smooth, but then I want it to still be kiind of textured, or if I should do multiple passes or somehow wing it all with pressure sensitivity... poor craftsman blames his tools blah blah, but this stuff tends to be easier on paper. Sketching also felt a bit weird, but that came a bit more naturally to me.

The background was supposed to be white, but the placeholder color I had actually looked quite nice, so I kept it like that. If you want it to look more like a traditional B&W comic book, turn up luminosity in an editing program of your choice (or check out my post on Newgrounds, where I included some alternate versions of the comic, including one in white and a bright red variant of the last panel, reminiscient of the Virtual Boy.)

I don't celebrate Christmas, but I thought it was a good occasion to make a comic anyway. Hope you like it!

Might as well start the blog off with the current header image!

This was made for NebulaAurora's first VOD (https://youtu.be/2r7M-Ud2V1A?si=Di5oGwl5psfQQTqF) of our Rayman Origins playthrough. We streamed it and I was in there too and it was as loud and chaotic as you'd expect if you ever played the game.

The drawing initially had lines without anti-aliasing, but I like how the smooth downscale of it softens them, making it fit with the rendering too, so you get that. But it may very well not matter since Tumblr might downscale it anyway.

Also, I think it's the man's 30th birthday? Sheesh, talk about ooooold... who want's to play a crummy ol' PS1 game anyway?
