Lev Calder is intersex coded.

This might be my biggest hot-take on Unwind yet, but as an intersex person myself I really relate to the things Lev is told (in regards to gender) throughout the story.

In the first book, Lev is told to "Wear a dress next time" because he looked too masculine in a female space (the women's bathroom)

But in the later books, Lev is told he looks too effeminate, and that long hair doesn’t suit him

So he's either intersex-coded or too feminine to be a man and too masculine to be a woman (Both of which are very frustrating)
