Want traffic? Syndicate
Found a bug yesterday with one of the scripts we have that syndicates data out to a third party site. Apparently it'd been busted for quite a while from looking at the referal hits in Google Analytics. Since we've got a stack more data these days I was keen to see the results of fixing the syndication issue… so far today (lunch time) we've had the best day in terms of referral traffic from that site we've ever had, by more than double.
Oops.
Not my fault
It's always nice to get an email saying shits hit the fan, fix it… then find out that it's not actually your area that fell over, even better when you raised a ticket for that exact bug the week earlier
Getting into StackOverflow
I'm just trying to get into using stackoverflow, I've used it a lot for finding answers to questions but I've never really taken part. It's an addictive little site… by but little I mean huge, looks like they just broke through 4million questions

We were always going to use linkedin on the sites, but shit just got real.
Gotta love it when companies give more than they need to, it’s a win win.
Tracking page views like a bowss
Decided to add in the page tracking code to the legacy site, so that when the new site comes in, there’ll be some pretty graphs to show for the page views.
Found a bit of an issue while doing that though, since the original version of the page tracker only considered the users IP, meaning if more than one person viewed the page from the same house or office, only the first would be tracked.
Came close enough to a fix by adding in the user agent.
