curled up in a chair with enough snacks to choke a horse and the softest blanket she could grab from her room, gia found herself in the theater with nightmare before christmas just starting on the large screen. she’d tried her hand at job hunting today, which was harder than expected in a country she’d never been in before. after dealing with that frustration, all she wanted to do was settle in and relax with a good movie. she sung along to the words of the opening number, swinging her head to the beat until she heard the door creak open. “ oh, hey! ” she turned to the other woman in the doorway, unsure if she was being too noisy and had lured the other in with the sounds of the movie. “ wanna come watch with me? i have snacks and alcohol, if that persuades you a little more. ”

“I don’t think majoring would have been necessary anyway, you’re clearly a natural.” Happy to keep the playful atmosphere up, Rosalie threw in a wink, smiling at the shorter woman. As she continued talking, the brunette laughed, getting the feeling that they would get along just fine. “I can honestly say it’s my first time meeting somebody this way. Another cherry, gone.”

“ why thank you, my dear. ” gia chuckled, wrinkling her nose before walking over to the fridge to search for something to eat. “ me too. this whole thing is like...cherries on cherries popping for me. being around other...women like me is refreshing and new. ” it was still a foreign concept, to acknowledge that she wasn’t straight after so many years of acting like she was around people she wanted to be friends with. hopefully being on the show would help her kick that old habit. “ were you on the show before when it was on? ”

maeve flashed the unfamiliar face a smile ——— endearing to the girl immediately, at her enthusiasm. enthusiasm was usually something maeve lacked, except when it came to alcohol, so they were off to a good start. “ atta girl. ” she cheered her approval, slowly starting to unscrew the bottle. “ don’t worry about it, angel. ” maeve reassured her, expert hands darting under the bar to fish out a couple of glasses. she’d worked as a bartender for a few months, before getting fired for drinking on the job. but hey, of all the jobs to drink on, right? “ i’ve got it. ” she set on pouring them out a generous glass each - never a stingy a drink when it came to alcohol.

the brunette pushed her hair out of her eyes and over her shoulder, moving further into the kitchen as she smiled at the other woman. she seemed friendly, and gia gravitated towards people with friendly spirits easiest of all. she reached into the full pantry and grabbed a bag of kettle chips before pulling up a stool in front of the counter. “ i haven’t seen you around yet. or else i def would’ve offered to drink with you sooner. i’m gia. ”

“It’s a crazy, powerful addiction to have. Just look at what it does to us.” Rosalie easily returned the smile from her place opposite the other woman. “Well, if I didn’t already feel better before, I certainly do now. You have a gift.” Keeping the atmosphere light, she threw the joke in playfully. “I’m Rose, hi.” 

“ ah, thank you. i do try my best, i should’ve majored in comic relief. ” joking around with the brunette seemed to come easy to her, and those were gia’s favorite kind of people. “ i’m gia, hey. cool to meet you over a broken coffee brewer. i’d consider myself super lucky, huh? ”

this sort of thing happened quite frequently. sure, he was fixed but clearly that didn’t stop him from trying. at least the seemingly younger woman didn’t appear that bothered by the whole thing. that was a relief, to say the least. “he’s definitely too friend. although, i’m uh… not really sure what he hopes to accomplish your leg of all things,” she joked, feeling a little less tense by the second. the other certainly helped the situation. “uh yeah, actually… what kind of dog do you have back home?” instead of coming to her, bosco started jumping, hopeful the brunette would pet him.

gia tied off the last bit of her braid, freeing her hands so she could crouch down and rub behind bosco’s ears. “ we have a mini schnauzer named schnapps. and he always got way too crazy with guests. i spent every five minutes of any dinner party picking him up and steering him clear of any legs. but this, ” gia poked bosco’s nose gently, laughing down at how excited he was, “ cute face is just too hard to say no to. how old is he? ”

“It really would be nice like imagine the stress you wouldn’t have to deal with if you had a manager to at least help you out and prioritise with you. I was going to say maybe the longer you hang around here maybe people will offer to be your manager; who knows! I actually love London too, as much as I adore Summer the overcast days are a really nice and welcome change and the accents really do get me every single time. I think once you’ve done all the main attractions then you can really start to do the nitty gritty like the less or unknown places like I doubt we will be moving from here soon. I have been here maybe once or twice with girlfriends. I really like to travel you see”

fingertips danced delicately around the liquor cabinet — occasionally picking up a bottle, studying it, and putting it back down again. maeve was like a kid in a candy store: spoilt for choice. it was her first night back, after all… she wanted to do it right. finally picking her poison, she stood up on her tip-toes to yank down a bottle of irish whisky, lighting up with a devilish kind of satisfaction once she had it firmly in her grip. suddenly becoming aware she had attracted an audience (something she would have to get used to all over again), maeve spun on her heels —- mischief on her lips, as she turned to face the onlooker. “ aw c’mon, angel! you’re not gonna make me drink alone on my first night, are ya’? ”

exhausted from a long day of working in her journal, gia had made her way in her pajamas across the house to the kitchen for a late night snack. standing in the doorway, she noticed another woman that she hadn’t met yet reaching for a bottle in the liquor cabinet. hearing her invitation, the brunette cocked a grin and stepped in further. “ how could i ever say no to that? ” upon further inspection of the bottle she’d grabbed, gia nodded. “ great choice, one of my faves. want me to grab glasses? ”
