Voicemail // Kaya
[Call: Voicemail]: Kaya. Hey. It's me, Oliver. I really hoped you weren't going to answer but now -- well, I found your letter. I'm leaving with Corey tonight and moving into our dorms and as much as I wanted to talk to you in person one last time, we both know that would do us no good. I hope you have fun travelling around the world, getting to know new places and hopefully you go back to being the old, weirdly happy all the time Kaya. She's the real you and nothing should be able to change that.
[Call: Voicemail]: Don't think I'm mad about what happened. I mean, I was for a little while, but I understand now... If you ever find yourself in NYC one of these days, come see me. No matter how many days from today, that day will be. My door is always going to be open for you. Take care of yourself.
Iâm just not used to people being this stupid.
Well now Iâm just offended. But thatâs fine, we can just talk to each other about other things. Like how you walked away from two girls making out. Or we could watch Breaking Bad whilst I ask loads of questions about the episode to annoy you.
Or I could just walk away. Besides, I donât even watch Breaking Bad.
What, not looking at other girls?
I guess. If I didnât care, I wouldnât be bothered now.
Nothingâs ever going to change. Iâm going to be the same witch forever.
Thatâs kind of sad.
Whatâs got you down in the dumps. Obviously. Iâm guessing your man card isnât whatâs really making you feel achy breaky.
Nothing has gotten me in the dumps. My man card is definitely the problem.
Take a chill pill Oliver.Â
Bite me.
Then whatâs with the whining?
Whatâs with the caring? Weâre not friends, last time I checked.
âI should be upstairs grooming my hero hairâ.
He fell apart with his broken heart
Thatâs bullshit. Youâre a totally different person when youâre with her, Iâve never seen you so much as look at another girl.
Clearly that was my biggest mistake.
Okay, I wonât. Itâs just â why?
College, I guess. Oh and I canât fight against who I really am, so thereâs that.
Ash pulled a confused expression before she realized that he meant why she looked so annoyed before he arrived. She lets out a heavy sigh as she thinks back to the memory that took place not only five minuets ago. âIâm fine. I was on a roll with the game I was playing whilst waiting for you. I was beating my high score up until I lost.â She explains as she waves her hands around to emphasize her frustration. She smiles at him. She had been wearing a simple black tank top with a red plaid shirt with pants. âWhy thank you very much.â She grins. She smirks as he opens the door and allows her to enter first. âSuch the gentleman.â She teases as she waltzes inside.
Knowing he was following behind her, she quickly grabbed an empty booth for them both to sit in before somebody else could take it. She sits in the comfortable red leather seats and leans back. âSo, how you been Oliver?â She asks, genuinely wanting to know as their last conversation had been some time ago.
Oliverâs steps were naturally right behind her, following her to one of the various empty booths, settling down right in front of her. Her question made him a bit frustrated, his lips pressed against each other to avoid a rude comment upon realizing she probably meant it as anyone would after a few days without catching up with each other. âIâm alright.â His smile more upbeat, wanting to keep his mess of a life as far from that day as much he could. âHow about you? How is it dealing with the pressure of being a senior?â A few seconds before and one of the waitress stood next to the booth, with a wide smile on her face asking for their order.
His hands grabbed the menu, giving a quick gaze over his options more to give time for the girl in front of him to ask for whatever sheâd want first, before taking his turn. âA double burger with fries and a cola.â Giving the piece of plastic back to the waitress, Oliver gave a lazy smile before moving his gaze back to Ash. âDonât be afraid to eat as much as you can just because I am here.â He joked, though he was completely serious about it.
