when i was a kid my Getting To Sleep technique was visualizing a child-sized shriveled up mummy with big piercing eyes that would stand silhouetted in the doorway & stare at me & probably attack if i so much as opened my eyes after getting into bed & this technique caused me to develop a lifelong nighttime-induced paranoia & it still takes me 2 hours to fall asleep. so i wouldnt recommend that

#i actually used to do something like this on occasion.#when i couldnt sleep i'd imagine some sort of wraith creature or some other demon crawling around #and i had to stay really really still or else it would know i was awake and would kill me #i couldnt move at all or anything. just barely breathe #this didnt work mind you. because my whole body would be tense #i wonder what neuroses op and i share to make us do this.#also sometimes i'd imagine a parade of ghosts outside my door marching from one room to the other across the hall #and i couldnt move at all or else they'd all attack me
