Ahh some old OCs of mine that I finally actually drew.
Left: Shade, the guardian of the day ponies, he takes care of the weather (since on the island they live on (away from equestria) doesn’t have pegasi proper). He’s a dramatic, “shady” (ha), weenie.
Right: Shine, the guardian of the Night Ponies, she handles the stars and how they move and has visions that inspire her to create constellations. She’s very calm and collected and like to get to know her ponies on an individual basis.
And at the bottom right is the main character, Little Torch, a night pony who’s afraid of the dark.
if you find bones in the forest, sit a bit and listen. they are old and have some good stories to tell. maybe they’ll teach you a spell or two, or explain where the water on our planet came from.
if you find bones by the ocean, run. don’t look back. run, faster, faster. the sea may love you but there are nights where she knows neither mercy nor science, and the bones warn you only once.
this is a piece of creative writing, in case you couldn’t tell from the fact that real bones don’t usually go hey lil’ mama lemme whisper bony secrets in your ear or warn you of the incoming tides like a calcified weather frog.
Finally Goemon my beloved… He gets a very traditional look for his dragon form (minus the finger count thing, but who’s counting, right? Ah. Probably you, now.). Makes sense since he dresses in traditional clothing.
His tail is perfectly normal and fluffy, but the ribbon he wears around his arm is enchanted, acting as a “sheath” for Zantetsuken, which becomes the end of his tail when the ribbon is wrapped around it.
OC Hans is all set! Commissioned by anguiculus on Twitter.
***This is a commission and is not for sale.
Hans is made of minky and miscellaneous upholstery fabric ( antlers and accent tail details). All the details, including the face are a mix of machine embroidery and applique. The tail strands and antlers are stuffed firm to help them keep their shape, while the wings and base tail has soft interfacing in them take make them flexible but floppy.
I need to practice my sketching character drawing, my ask is open. Any fluff ideas, ship stuff, AUs, angst, ideas in general yall would like to see drawn out? Ill try to do a few tonight for practice.
The beginning and ending do not match thematically. It starts off with Blinky reading and recapping the stories from TH,3B, and Wizards. Continuing onward on to RotT as he's reading us a story.
The Ending implies that everything has changed. So how is Blinky reading a story if none of it happened? Just ???
Jim should have stayed a half troll, would have driven the hes not invincible alot more better, would have made getting the armor more impact too in my opinion. and maybe changed back to human in some way at the end?
Plot sense?? one of the points of the movie was if Jim was worthy to hold the mantle of being Troll Hunter still. Only for the ending to drop the ball and throw that burden on to Toby?
If I had to pick between a trio jealousy side plot or mpreg... id take jealousy plot line. (Its my least favorite trope in media but id rather not go into further detail.)
Needed more impact with barbara. A her mourning over stricklander scene, a speech, uplifting moment. Something to really like i dunno. We dont see her after the crying and that feels sour.
I could gripe on and nitpick on and on but i will say a few good things.
The animation and effects were at thier best thruout the movie and it looked amazing.
The fight scenes were impactful and pretty stellar.
Jims akiridion trollhunter armor was sick looking, would have loved to see what the daylight sword would have looked like. (Gonna attempt to draw troll jim in it.)
The korean troll market and different troll designs were cool, might go back to study them further and maybe make OCs
Jims bio dad is not involved at all, which im happy for that.
In all it was a decent movie i had my fun with it. But there was some oofs and yikes and some cool stuff to it.
Can I know about some of these post eternal night hc you have since you are still upset blut Jim being human again please?? Because also same!
I'm so sorry this has been sitting in my asks for so long (since April! omg), I keep telling myself to sit down and answer it, but I haven't been able to focus and I've had the hardest time articulating myself and how I want to explain my headcanons (and how much canon content they disregard), also this got... really fucking long.
Onward!
There was so much weight put on Jim turning into a half-troll and everything that it would change, and everything in his life that would have to change. It's, technically speaking, a permanent reminder of him being a child soldier and everything that did to change him and his life. Taking it away (literally only a couple months later in canon), drops all of that weight in what is, personally, the most dissatisfying manner.
I deal a lot with Jim being a half-troll permanently in my Self Indulgent au. Most of all, I obviously want him to come to terms with being a half-troll, And I want him to have balance with "the two worlds he has a foot in".
Admittedly, I just forgo Wizards, I feel like, Jim's trollhunting duty most of all is to Trollmarket, what becomes his new home. He's done his greatest duty to the world and he kinda just needs a fucking break (Also I feel like the Arcane Order just undermined all of the weight that Gunmar had as a villian). I also have beef with "no more Trollhunter/Jim is the last Trollhunter".
Personally, I always like the idea of him living in the New Trollmarket -as well as Claire and Toby 'cause like, the trolls of Trollmarket are their friends and family too, and while they are not the Trollhunter proper, they are the Trollhunters and that is something intrinsic to their lives just as much as it is to Jim's life. Jim comes to embrace this now more trollish side of his life and living with the trolls, but with a very human flair. Culturally Jim is still human, it's everything he's known and grown up with so far, which is also why I like having Claire and Toby be there with him, they keep the human balance to Jim's more Troll-leaning life.
Now that Gunmar, and with him the Gumm Gumms, are dead, Jim isn't a Trollhunter with a grand purpose, but moreso a problem solving Trollhunter. His duty is to Trollmarket and the good trolls, but the duty is far less world-ending prevention now.
I like the idea of him having a little apartment-like home in the New Trollmarket right next to Blinky and AAARRRGGHH's home as neighbors, along with Claire and Toby (or in most of my Aus, Claire, Jim and Toby living in a little home together because I think it'd be nice). Jim (And Claire) and Blinky first tried to live in one home unit when the New Hearthstone was founded, but they found that humans and trolls had fundamentally different ideas as to what a home space should be made of.
Blinky: A bedroom, a bathroom, AND a kitchen? All separate from your main living space? Why do you need so much compartmentalization?
Jim: I'm not gonna change clothes in living room pls, much less where I eat.
While Jim, Toby, and Claire live in Trollmarket, they still do a lot of human activities, people have mentioned it before of Jim using the Glamor Mask to walk around. He does his weekly grocery shopping in whatever nearby town the new trollmarket is under, as well as around Trollmarket, working on innovative new troll-human fusion cuisine that he can tolerate. He visits home and his mom and other friends during holidays and things. I also like the idea of him going to festivals and events in whatever new town above the New Trollmarket just as he is, with nothing but his regular clothes and a giant sunhat. People would just assume he's in a costume, I've worked a lot of festivals and people will dress in a lot of anything (full fursuits in 90 degree weather, cosplayers at events that aren't even cosplay oriented, I even once saw a guy pulling around a LIVE Iguana in a wagon), people will not question you.
And similarly enough they'd attend Troll holidays and learn the culture of Trolls more intimately.
This is a personal experience 'cause I went to community college, but I like the idea of Jim doing Community College classes (online most likely). He came to terms with not being able to properly finish high school (maybe even found like, groups online of other people who shared their own stories about not being able to finish high school), but for personal want, got his GED and then took online community college classes 'cause it could work with his unpredictable schedule as the Trollhunter (Trollmarket's resident problem solver). What'd he study? I'm not certain, I always like the idea of Jim getting into building and making things, after building the Vespa with Blinky and then having to help out so much with building the New Trollmarket, he found a passion for being able to make things with his hands.
I know this is mainly about Jim but I also like for Toby to study geology, both human geology and Trollish geology (he gets Troll geology teacher in my self indulgent au, I should draw her) and comparing them. Whereas Claire does a lot of work with changelings, I like the idea of her being sympathetic to them especially through Notenrique. She's trying to help build bridges between Trollmarket trolls and the changelings remaining, as well help redistribute the familiars. Jim and Toby are obviously helping with that too, but Claire's the one who takes the main lead on it.
As much as people liked the "Jim aging like a troll" headcanon for Troll Jim, I honestly HATED it. I don't like the idea of him greatly outliving Claire and Toby (or in some aus, him and Claire outliving Toby, no, no no no, they are a TRIO). He ages like a human, but it's slightly delayed. It's something Jim's very anxious about because he honestly doesn't know how he'll age and Merlin (who in this, just lives in Trollmarket and fucks around 'cause pre-Wizards I thought he hung out with Trolls a lot more and thus was the reason for him creating the amulet for them yanno) doesn't really have a proper answer 'cause "welp, there's never been anyone like you before so I've never observed the long term effects". He doesn't get wrinkles (Much to Claire and Toby's chagrin) 'cause stone doesn't wrinkle at the same pace that skin does, and Jim would pass from old age before they'd show up on him, and when he finally does get a more solid answer for aging -greying hair- it's slightly delayed a couple years from when Claire and Toby start greying.
Also Angsty bit (That I have a comic planned out for) but Blinky and AAARRRGGHH!!! will have to come to terms with the fact that the human kids they adopted will grow old before them, and they will have to watch them pass away.
While I didn't like the idea of Jim being the last Trollhunter, I do like the idea of him being the first Trollhunter to be able to retire, or in the case of his age ('cause I do like the idea of him living to a ripe old age), having to retire. Again Jim's aging process is slightly delayed in that Claire and Toby start slowing down just a few years before him, but he has a bit of a scramble with Blinky and Trollmarket as they discuss what to do while Jim's retired. (In my Self Indulgent AU this is solved actually rather easily 'cause I had Draal survive and he's just like "don't worry bro, I gotchu")
I know I have a million more little ideas (Jim, Toby, and Claire have a little hidden greenhouse on the surface above New Trollmarket to grow some of their own food :3). But I feel like I can't order then without getting into even more specifics. Honestly, all of my headcanons for post eternal night will eventually show up in my Self Indulgent au (specifically the third fic which will take a while ;w;)
Thank you for your ask tho, and indulging me in absolutely dumping about my headcanons, I hope you found it somewhat enjoyable to read.
At my last company, one day someone in accounting approached me at lunch and quietly told me I need to ask for a raise because I was way underpaid.
They gave me a number to shoot for. It was about twice than what I had been making at the time.
So I went online, did some research, found some figures backing up my claim, put it all together and went to my boss.
I got what I asked for.
If it hadn’t been for that person in accounting telling me I was way underpaid, I’d have never known. I went from barely scraping by to being able to have a savings account and getting all my debts paid thanks to them.
You should at least check sites like salary.com to start the process of seeing what you should be making.
Except for the fact that 90% of the time you are under contract not to talk about your salary otherwise the company can sue you. Every job I’ve had I’ve had to sign that I won’t discuss my pay with other employees otherwise my employment is terminated and the company will take legal action.
I got a raise today and my boss made it super-clear it was “confidential” and I “couldn’t talk to anyone about it.”
So of course, this post popped up just in time to remind me to tell you all that heavy resignations and discussion of unionization got my crew bumped to $13/hr (85 cents over state minimum) and managers to $15/hr.
Unionize, learn your rights, and get your money, honey.
