"I mean, I can't see you well with my eyes, physically," Wǔ Yuè explains, despite staring straight at Ne Zha, "sometimes, I can't tell a difference between you and the grass beneath my feet, when your flames are calm."

"Is this why you always stare at my lips? Moon Dancer--" Ne Zha scoffs and half-groans in disbelief, absolutely devastated by the revelation that for all the grace of her pirouettes and vitality, she can't see the whims of the Heavens around her.

"I didn't think it mattered all that much! Not until you blind me by grabbing my antennae like that. Besides, your spirit is plenty bright for me to find... When you're gliding to and fro on your wheels especially. If you really wish for me to find you, though, just wear something... Not the color of what you're wearing now," she giggles.

She doesn't know the name of the color Ne Zha wears--well, she knows what a color is supposed to be, barely; it's all a meaningless blob of motion colored differently than the grass, or the water reflecting the blue moon at night. Despite this, never witnessing the color red, she feels its warmth in the heat of fire, the stifled laughter she wrings out of him like a damp cloth, and the whisper of his movements along her fuzzy antennae.

Another progress post, really proud of the linework so far. Also cleaned up the sketch a bit and rearranged some things.

Oh? You want another Lotusmoth tidbit? Sure...

Ne Zha is extremely picky about his hair. After all, as the Third Lotus Prince, he must always appear well-groomed as part of his responsibilities. Yet, there's always a stray hair loose that springs up like a wayward flame from his head--one he can't quite tame.

It's subtle, Li Jing muses, but he can tell that it isn't his son's handiwork when Ne Zha attends the usual assembly, bowing before the Jade Emperor after a coincidental meeting in the gardens; and his hair is smooth as the surface of a lotus petal, cowlicks pressed into calm waves and the ribbons holding his twin buns tucked neatly. The Pagoda-Wielding General can only wonder whose hands the Prince allowed to comb and tie his hair so neatly.

finished sketching this beast. already been at this thang for like, four hours... guess I'm gonna line and cross my fingers, hope for the best.

... oh wait you don't even know who the green lady buge is.

that's Wǔ Yuè. smiles. she's a giant Chinese moon moth who sorta got blinded wandering a little too close to the sun and away from Chang'e's garden. whoops. she weaves a mean set of clothes made out of lunar silk though, when she's not playing tag with her favorite lotus prince.

she doesn't know if she wins anymore because she's truly fast enough to evade nezha, or if he lets her get away.
