I did a MyHeritage test with my sister just for fun. The results weren’t surprising at all and actually make a lot of sense. I’m Frisian Dutch, so the 14.5% Danish and 4.6% English makes sense. In the Middle Ages, Friesland was part of the wider North Sea trade network and had regular contact with Scandinavian and English merchants. After that, basically all of my ancestors were Frisian Dutch. To this day all my genetic family is Frisian.

It’s just fun to see it visualized like this, even if it mostly confirms what I already knew: my ancestors stayed around the North Sea area.

My health is still giving me trouble. I'm going back to my GP tomorrow, hoping for some answers. Last Sunday, I experienced what I can only describe as vertigo. I was lying in bed when I suddenly felt like everything around me started spinning. Every time I got up, my vision went black for a few seconds. This went on for an hour or two. It really weirded me out—I hope it was just a one-time thing.

I made something out of the Pegasus sketch I drew a few days ago, but this time, I wanted to try something different. I decided to practice drawing robotic creatures and built this up layer by layer. I'm not sure if the way the Pegasus is constructed makes sense—I would have spent more time researching how other artists create similar drawings.

Also, I might slow down with drawing for now. Some symptoms of my illness have returned with a vengeance. As if chronic fatigue wasn’t enough, I can now add stiffness and pain all over my body to the list.

Some sketches I might finish at a different time. I was practising heads and bodies of different animals starting with the types of animals I am most comfortable drawing: felines, canines and horses. I decided to go for a more realistic approach instead of the cartoon / Disney like style I usually use. I like to change between cartoon and realistic. It just depends on what I am in to mood for.

Some informaties about his dragon I came up with:

This dragon species is a social, dog-sized creature with a stocky build. Males are more colorful than females, with orange-brown bodies and tails that range from blue to green, while females are predominantly brown. They live in groups led by a dominant male, who takes great pride in protecting his territory and females. The females are highly protective of their eggs and young, often becoming broody. Overall they are a proud species.

The Drakefly

the Drakefly, is a tiny but fiercely obnoxious dragon, roughly the size of a large dragonfly. It sports delicate yet surprisingly strong dragonfly wings and shimmering bluish scales.

Despite its minuscule size, the Drakefly more than compensates with its attitude—it’s a flying embodiment of chaos, known for its relentless aggression. It will pick fights far beyond its weight class, buzzing around larger creatures with fearless (and often suicidal) bravado. While not a real threat, it’s considered one of the most annoying nuisances in any ecosystem. Imagine the worst traits of a chihuahua combined with the tenacity of a wasp, and you’ve got the Drakefly: a creature that won’t kill you, but might just drive you insane.

To me, they will always remain Scar/Taka's and Mufasa's parents. I was quite disappointed when they didn’t use them in Mufasa, even though they did use Taka as Scar's original name. It was a missed opportunity to make a lot of OG Lion King fans happy. Uru and Ahadi have always been a well known presence within LK fandom.

I was recently reminded of this gem of an animated show. Making fiends. To this day it is still one of my all-time favourite animated show. Honestly, this show was done so dirty and definitely deserved more.

I need some of that of that blind optimism that stupid blue girl has going on.

The other one. I had a bit more trouble deciding how I wanted this one. I removed the large mouth because I thought it was a bit too much and added a bit more red to the coat.

I was looking through my gallery on DeviantArt to find something I could expand on. I came across two old drawings of unicorns that I wanted to recreate. It had also been a while since I last drew anything resembling a horse, so I thought, why not? I wanted to see how much I have improved in drawing them and what choices I would make now.

I made two of them, I will upload the other one tomorrow.

One thing I noticed when comparing the drawings (I was around 18/19 years old in 2013) is that I’ve calmed down a bit with the unnecessary details. I don't overdo it as much anymore.

I started this around the time Volume 9 ended, thinking it would be a good opportunity to practice landscapes, but I never finished it. Recently, I found it on my computer again and decided to finish it. Last week, I drew Little and Somewhat, and I thought I might as well use them in this drawing for scale.

Adult Kovu and Kiara are taking a stroll with their twin sons, Uwazi and Tajari (OCs), while Simba watches over them proudly. I imagine Kovu and Kiara would take some time before having cubs, as Kovu didn’t have great role models throughout his life and would want to do right by his future cubs. They would take things slowly, allowing Kovu to learn what it means to be his own lion and prepare for his role as the future king of the Pridelands. Simba would act as both a mentor and father figure to Kovu.

I created this piece over the weekend. The drawing has so many layers—at least over 90! I’m finally getting the hang of creating backgrounds, though I still need to work on the shadows and something about the depth and perspective of the background feels a bit off to me. Perhaps Pride rock is a bit too small?

The curious cat from RWBY. It's been almost two years since Volume 9 premiered. I really enjoyed this volume; it’s something completely different from the previous ones and a bit of a slower since Volumes 7 and 8 were packed with action. and I liked that aspect of volume 9. The highlight for me in Volume 9 has to be the Curious Cat. Such an interesting character, both in design and within the story.

I first designed these characters about ten years ago. They are two lion brothers I created around that time. They are meant to be the future cubs of Kiara and Kovu. These characters were designed as parallels to Mufasa and Scar. While Scar desired the throne of his older brother, in this case, it’s the older brother who doesn’t want the throne. I believe I had names for them, but I might come up with new ones that fit them. As I created them ten years ago, the Lion Guard was not taken into account because it did not exist at the time. I still don't think it fits well within the story I created. I also like to add more realistic aspects into the LK universe such as male lions leaving their pride and their age working the same as real life lions.

Left Brother (the dark-colored one)

- Quiet and reserved, but not shy.

- He has his father’s eyes.

- His appearance comes from his father’s unknown paternal lineage.

- He is the only one who knows that his brother doesn’t want to be king. He wants his brother to speak to their parents about it, but his brother refuses. Out of respect and loyalty, he keeps this secret.

- He’s content with the life he has.

- does sometimes feel that his father and grandfather pay more attention to his brother.

- has found love in a lioness from a neighboring pride

- Overall, he is a well-balanced and stable individual who loves his family and pride. However, he often tries to mediate and maintain peace when arguments arise, which makes it difficult for him to pick a side—especially when both sides have valid points.

Right Brother (the light-colored one)

- The firstborn.

- Easygoing and extroverted, but these traits often mask his insecurities. As a result, he can sometimes come across as overbearing.

- He has sectoral heterochromia in his right eye.

- As Kovu’s heir, he is expected to become king, but he doesn’t want the throne. He feels pressured to follow in his family’s footsteps and doesn’t want to let anyone down. Only his brother knows about his reluctance to take on this role.

- His appearance is inherited from his mother’s side of the family.

- Is enamored by the nomad lifestyle lots of male lions go through, almost naivily so.

At 1.5 years old, Malka knows his time within his parents' pride is running out, as males typically leave the pride between 2 and 3 years old. The life of a young adolescent nomad is a hard one, so his parents want to prepare him as well as possible. His father, the lead male of the pride, teaches him to fight and defend himself, while his mother shows him how to hunt and survive on his own. Although Malka is excited for this new chapter in his life, he is also very aware that the African plains can be a dangerous place, where anyone can lose their life at any moment. The sudden death of King Mufasa and Prince Simba shocked Malka to his core. Simba was one of his best friends, and now he was gone. He also hasn't heard anything from Nala, Kula, or Tama. The only one left is Tojo, who is staying with Malka’s pride because his home in the Pridelands has become too dangerous for a young male cub.

I used the same colors for Malka's mother as in the comics, but I made her look a little less generic. I'm also trying to do more with the backgrounds again.

I had quite some trouble with this one. I knew I wanted to draw at least two of them to showcase that they are the only lizards in the game that live in social groups.

In a more realistic setting, I imagine the orange lizard would exhibit the most sexual dimorphism, due to its social group structure, with a clear dominant member that has longer antennae than the others. The alpha might need to be larger to chase off competing males.

Perhaps their social group consists of a dominant male with a harem of multiple females, similar to what’s observed in species like the common side-blotched lizard, which even has three types of males.

It’s fun to think about the inner workings of these lizards. Next up is most likely the pink lizard.
