Tendi was taking one of the shuttlecrafts to go on shore leave to the planet below. She was happy to get some sort of time off, she had plans to meet the rest of the lower deckers on the planet below. Unfortunately things wouldn’t be so easy for the Orion. As the shuttlecraft neared the atmosphere she felt things started to get a bit bumpy before being sucked into some sort of rift and hitting her head on the console of the shuttle.
As she came to she looked around, things felt different somehow. Deciding to get back to the Cerritos to get the craft looked at. As she turned around she didn’t see the Cerritos but another ship. “Federation Starship, this is Shuttlecraft Yosemite, requesting emergency landing.” She spoke through the coms, which after some back and forth arguing she was allowed to land, not allowed to leave until she was escorted by someone from the ship. As she landed she awaited until she saw a man walking towards the craft. “Hello, I’m Ensign Tendi of the USS Cerritos.” She introduced, before she realized some crewmembers were staring at her.
Paul was not an engineer, not by trade, anyway, since he could certainly do his fair share of engineering after being put onto Discovery, but what he was was a scientist, and one that arguably had more experience with strange things than any of the others on the ship. That, and he was undoubtedly one of the brightest minds they had, at least according to himself, but he thought the data could back him up on that if it had to. All of this was part of why he was one of the officers called to the shuttlebay to see, as he was told, a shuttle from a ship that didn’t match any known Starfleet vessel. Not exactly something that he cared about, but he did as he was told.
So now there he was, acting as Discovery’s resident expert on the strange and unusual, as much of a stretch as he thought it was for a mycologist. The doors opened, and he stepped into the bay, eyes first on the shuttle, and then to the woman speaking to him. Orion. Interesting. And with a uniform that was clearly non-standard, at least compared to the people around him. So? “What are you trying to do, exactly?” he asked, voice harsh, eyebrows furrowed, ignoring her greeting for the sake of getting right to it. “It’s all well and good that you want to pretend you’re in Starfleet, but the Cerritos doesn’t exist, and I’m sure you’ve noticed your uniform isn’t exactly standard issue.” Why jump through so many hoops if every detail of it was wrong? Why bother with them at all?
Tendi almost immediately realized why she hadn’t recognized the ship as soon as she noticed the uniforms of the crew. She wasn’t too well versed in when the uniforms were from but she knew there were pre 2300′s. This was bad for her, she could be changing the course of the future just by standing here and talking. Not to mention she knew the reputation her species had pre 2300, slavers and pirates, which now looked bad for her in this situation.
Still it hit her in the gut being assumed that she was lying about being a Starfleet officer, sure her uniform wasn’t standard but it still looked Federation, at least to her since that was what she was used to. “I’m not trying to do anything. I was heading to a planet for shore leave when I had shuttle troubles and decided to turn about, only to see this ship in place of mine.” She tried explaining to him. Of course though Tendi didn’t have any form of proof other than what she was saying. “The Cerritos does exist, it’s a California Class starship. You have to believe me, I’m a medic aboard the USS Cerritos. There’ nothing that I gain from doing this. I’m not some pirate that’s trying to take over your ship I want to go back to my ship.” She huffed. She could somewhat understand from their view though, she didn’t even think the Office of Temporal Investigations was around at this time, let alone common knowledge of temporal paradoxes.

“Especially not when you’re on anomaly clean up duty, the sad thing is, I signed up my and my friends to do it I thought it would be interesting but it ended up backfiring. But thank you for understanding and not treating me like just another Orion It means a lot when someone looks past the stereotype.
She watched him sit up in the bed, hoping he wouldn’t try to make a run for it to get out of sickbay again but smiled when he started talking instead.
“You don’t owe me anything, I’m just doing my job. Though I guess sometimes people might think I come off as too happy. Say want to hang out when you get off shift, you’re on B shift right?”
“Clean-up duty? Wait… that means the Cerritos has a whole vault of anomalies just side-by-side? Terrifying, yet astounding. Stuff of nightmares and dreams it sounds like.”
Clark nodded Tendi’s way. Even when he was split between his various teachings, he always defaulted to listening and figuring things out with care. He slumped back into bed to relax in the meantime.
“Mess hall? Lounge? Ah, I shouldn’t stress over details. You’ll call me when you’ll call me. And count on me to be there En– Tendi. Set phasers to fun, this time.”
“Yeah clean up duty, a lot of our away missions bring back a lot of useless and anomalous things, every once in a while we get too much so we have to pack it up so it can get sorted. It was fun to begin with but then my friends started dragging it down and then I had to deal with a lot and then I got mad and the cube made me into a giant bug.”
She was glad to have made another friend, even i he wasn’t permanantly on the ship it was still nice to have somebody to talk with and enjoy time with, when she wasn’t hanging out with her other friends that is.
“I was thinking the holodecks. The Cerritos is going on a long haul warp so her have almost a whole day to have off, it’s great. I love it when the Captain allows us to have more free time.”
Tendi smiled at his pun before giggling a bit at it.

“The Cerritos gets into some pretty weird situations, but Starfleet doesn’t use California Class ships for much of anything. We don’t even get trusted with First Contact missions. And the worst thing that’s happened to me is being transformed into a giant bug due to anger issues and a cube.”
Tendi started putting her tools back while she continued to listen to Clark. she enjoyed talking with him, he seemed like he would fit in well with the rest of the lower deckers here just fine.
“Please don’t think that I’m anything like them. Most Orions aren’t pirates anymore, the haven’t done that type of thing in like five or six years now. I most people think that me being Orion I’m a slaver or a pirate or I’m going to use pheromones to seduce them. But I’m not that type of Orion.”
She continued the treatment before finishing and giving him a smile. it would be abut thirty more minutes before he’d be fine to go so that would give her a friend to chat with until he was discharged, or until she was needed for something more pressing but she doubted either would happen.
“I… see. I suppose no one can truly escape anomalies. And I understand: Some find it easy to play to such notions about people. I try to be mindful about that sort of thing.”
Clark sat up in his bed, looking over towards Tendi.
“Every ship has a place, just as every person does. We’re better off having the Cerritos and the crew around than not. And once I’m back on my feet I’ll see to it this situation is cleared up in a reasonable fashion. I think I owe you one now anyway.”

“So do you happen to know who attacked you, it might help figure out what type of phaser burns to treat. you know different frequencies and what not. if not that’s completely fine.”
Tendi calmed down a bit before resuming her check of Clark. She smiled at him when he apologized for his outburst. She honestly couldn’t blame him, most people didn’t like spending time in Sickbay and she had seen a few outbursts before, but all of them were handled one way or another.
“Hey listen you don’t have to apologize. You’re injured but you think that you’re fit enough to go back to work. That’s commendable, almost like my friend Boimler but it’s my duty as your nurse to ensure that you truly are fit to go back to work.”
She looked over the spots that he indicated hurt, running a scanner over them and finding just normal bruising for the most part. in her opinion it was less likely that he had survived a full on kill setting but a faulty phaser which had dimmed down the kill setting, though she wouldn’t tell him that, let him believe it was what he thought it was.
“Yeah medical, When I grew up on Orion I wanted to help people out, that and it was kind of a stipulation from my command sponsor to me to get into the Academy, since you know Orion isn’t part of the Federation. I think that’s one of the things I like about the Cerritos though, I don’t get treated like the stereotype of Orions for the most part, all of us here are just one giant dysfunctional family you know?”
“That… does sound nice. If anything you’re the commendable one between us, Ensign. I’m just here on a temporary transfer– Starfleet thinks I’m a busy bee when it comes to efficiency, and my usual assignment on the Wishbone isn’t quite as busy. The Wishbone has seen action like this before, but only sparsely. Can’t say this is my first time being shot either.”
Clark tried to think. He knew some others from Orion were involved, but there must have been one or two who weren’t– maybe he could distinguish the group by a couple of stragglers.
“Mostly some pirates. Many Orion, but They might have had a Ferengi or a Nausicaan with them for help collecting our things or taking out the security officers.”
Clark tested his arm after Tendi went over it with her instruments. Although it looked like he was still aching, he could still move around a bit. His recovery time was not as instant as he’d have liked, but once he allowed Tendi to perform treatment it wouldn’t be long before Clark was fit again.
“Errgh. Once I’m back on my feet I can get back to my duties. Maybe even jump back in and see if I can help out with the investigation into this attack.”

“Yes constantly, don’t worry it’ll be like friends hanging out together.”
As Tendi looked over the charts she grimaced reading the details. She knew a lot of away team missions could be dangerous but this seemed more dangerous than the Cerritos usually faced.
“D-dont worry, you’ll be patched up in no time, I’m sure you can get back on duty soon. Are you feeling any pain where you have phaser burns from being hit?”
Just by looking at her one could tell she was a bit more frazzled by what she had read, namely the other statements mentioning Orions as being part of the attacking group
“Yeah um mild kill setting sure. You survived but still need to be watched over, phaser wounds can have rather unexpected side effects sometimes, plus there’s the healing time.”
Tendi’s unease as she looked over the details seemed to reach Clark. He was perceptive enough to notice it, put two-and-two together with the fact she was in Starfleet. The word ‘friends’ also seemed to ring some previously unmoving bells in his mind.
“Yeah, here… and here. I’m aware that irregularities have sometimes occurred. Don’t prod them too much though– and… erm. I should apologize for my outburst just now. It was unbecoming… much too extreme in my emotions.”
Clark was being a teensy bit more cooperative, even if his general vibe at the moment consisted of a desire to distract himself from everything with his own work.
“So. Uh… medical, huh? Like I said. I almost took it up myself before I finally decided I preferred engineering. And the color yellow.”
“So do you happen to know who attacked you, it might help figure out what type of phaser burns to treat. you know different frequencies and what not. if not that’s completely fine.”

“No there’s a biobed with your name on it. Thats why we have an engineering team, you aren’t the only one on this ship.”
D'vana watched as he slipped on the ice the security officer dropped. It was more than what she intended to happen but got her point across nonetheless. Kneeling beside him she scanned him for any new injuries.
“Well you got my thanks, even though i had it covered.” She told the security officer with a smile. “But now you need to get back to rest. And you Ensign….Raut are going to be constantly supervised by me now so you don’t try and get ahead of yourself again.”
Tendi, with the help of another nurse lifted him up and put him back in his biobed. Checking his charts over again and seeing what exactly was wrong with him.
“C-Constantly?!…”
The security officer patient just shrugged and turned to take a nap. Clark on the other hand was grimacing, and very much on the border between unconsciousness and being awake: He’d taken some bruises and bumps on top of a couple of shots from a phaser while he was part of an away team.
Eyewitnesses stated that he’d been hit by a stun beam while in the middle of a delicate technical procedure– followed by his going absolutely berserk on the attackers when the first shot failed to put him down right away. Only a slightly higher setting beam had finally gotten him to keel over and pass out, surviving albeit in critical condition.
But all Clark seemed to want to do was curse himself for dropping the ball in both his work and battle.
“It was two shots. The second was only a mild kill setting. I survived, didn’t I?”
"Yes constantly, don't worry it'll be like friends hanging out together."

“Listen, you’re injured and you aren’t presentable to anyone like that get back in bed and let us do our job.”
As he looked for other ways she grabbed a spray applicator. She could tell that he wasn’t going to listen to her reasoning, of course she’d have to resort to her medical know how
“Last chance to go the easy way, you need treatment so you can get back to work. Get back into the biobed now…..please” She demanded, her voice getting more assertive that the usual calm demeanored Orion.
“There’s a dilithium crystal inspection with my name on it and you’re not gonna stop me from–”
Clark was about to stall a bit more when suddenly, someone else on a biobed with an old-fashioned ice pack on their head took a singular cube out, and rolled it across the floor like dice. Clark stepped on it with his bare foot, his heightened body heat from all the panic melting the ice cube enough that he could really slip on it, and fall flat on his back.
“I got your back…” groaned the patient with the ice pack. “Security is always ready. Unlike SOME people. Heh…”
The shame was profound. Clark groaned, trying to get up before Tendi could knock him out. But at this point he was due back into a biobed whether he liked it or not. The security officer patient was chuckling mockingly all the while at finally having gotten revenge on the perfectionist engineer.
"No there's a biobed with your name on it. Thats why we have an engineering team, you aren't the only one on this ship."

@dvanatxndi from here
D’Vana had made the right call. Clark turned to face her after he put his semi-VISOR eyepiece on (he couldn’t see– and refused to be seen without them on), leaving his uniform shirt unzipped, half-tucked, and his shoes missing– a very wild look, rare for the typically calm and collected, dual-disciplined human officer.
“I get it: I almost became a blueshirt myself. Your concern and bedside manner will make you chief officer of these facilities in no time–”
He tiptoed backwards, trying to find another door out of there and back to his work. He was like a more unhinged Boimler, probably even protested being sent on vacation. Clark tapped the tips of his thumb and index finger threateningly, like a cornered shellfish. A delirious, cornered shellfish.
“–But mess with Krada and you get the stabba!”
"Listen, you're injured and you aren't presentable to anyone like that get back in bed and let us do our job."
As he looked for other ways she grabbed a spray applicator. She could tell that he wasn't going to listen to her reasoning, of course she'd have to resort to her medical know how

Someone on the Cerritos sick bay is screaming. And then suddenly, they aren't. Someone in the bed next to them has been rudely awoken-- then that human fellow scrambled up to his aching feet, and performed a sloppy Vulcan nerve pinch.
"No need for a hypospray." Clark deadpanned, before stumbling towards his belongings, eager to get his uniform shirt back on. "And I'll be checking out post-haste, I should add. Good morning!"
The Cerritos was having just a normal day. Nothing too special, not majorly significant missions and nothing too complicated D'vana had been performing her duties as a medic when she heard the screaming but it stopped before she could react to that person, instead she was staring at the person who had quieted the person. "No, I can't let you do that. Doctor specifically stated that you're to not leave, despite how well you think you feel." She told him, blocking his path.
Anyone want to RP with Tendi?
OMG am I actually the first person to make a Tendi RP blog? Or even the first canon Lower Decks RP blog?
Okay here’s my Tendi blog. Just be aware I am not caught up in the show at all
