Alnwick Poison Gardens. The gardens were established in 2005 by the Duchess of Northumberland whoâs affinity for the apothecary gardens inspired the collection of nearly 100 deadly and hallucinogenic plants.
This place is fucking cool.
Super... Your own killing field!
âFor two years, I wouldnât get home until after 1 AM. Now I can be a dad again.â
âIâm writing in my journal. When I was in 11th grade, I had an English teacher named Ms. Lois Bricklin who required us to write in a journal every day. Then at the end of each marking period, we were supposed to turn in our journal. For the first two marking periods, I wrote all my entries right before the journal was due, and then backdated them. But for the third marking period, I actually made an effort to do it every day. By the fourth marking period, I was hooked. I havenât missed a day in over 30 years. Itâs like brushing my teeth. I turned 50 in January, so my latest entries have been very reflective. Iâve been questioning whether Iâm living the life that I wanted to live.â
dad: why are you drinking coffee at 10pm?
me: time is an illusion. once you realize that, you can transcend, and live in bliss
me: *takes sip*
me: also i have a 10 page paper due in the morning that i haven't started
I really dig the #education tag and all the stuff I learn here.
I donât know everything. I like talking to people who know stuff I donât.
Because of course.
But nobody should feel guilty for wanting a decent income.
When we focus on how âweâre not in it for the income,â which believe me, I have said and do believe to some extent we under-value ourselves and our profession.
Teaching is an important profession. We need good teachers. We need to attract the best teachers we can AND create circumstances to help retain.
If you donât allow me to make a salary that a) shows a respect for what I do b) allows me to be able afford things reasonable things, c) doesnât force me into looking for additional income, d)isnât competitive to professionals in other fields with the same amount of experience of education, and e) you teeter on basically requiring me to spend my personal income on things NEEDED and REQUIRED to do in my job because you donât provide themâŠ.
Why in the world would I stay?
The kids of course. The passion.  But the mindset of not in it for the income makes teachers that seek a decent income the bad guys. Because we should âdo it for the kids.â  Thereâs nothing wrong with wanting to be able to support yourself. Teachers are underpaid.  Teachers are underpaid.Â
Teaching: In it for the outcome; deserving of a better income.
Because of course.

Whaaaaaa? ??
âDepression turns you into a series of nouns, without the adjectives and without the verbs. You donât remember where you misplaced your descriptions, your actions ⊠You become: bed, shower, socks, coffee, keys, obligations.ââ A Series of Nouns
Me, like...all the time!!!
'Tell me what happens the first time you see a woman naked.' 'The first time you see a woman naked will not be like you imagined. There will be no love, no trust, no intimacy. You wonât even be in the same room as her. You wonât get to smile as she undresses you and you undress her. You wonât get to calm her nerves with nerves of your own. You wonât get to kiss her, feeling her lips and the edge of her tongue. You wonât get to brush your fingers over the lace of her bra or count her ribs or feel her heartbeat. The first time you see a woman naked you will be sitting in front of a computer screen watching someone play at intimacy and perform at sex. She will contort her body to please everyone in the room but her. You will watch this woman who is not a woman, pixelated and filtered and customized. She will come ready-made, like an order at a restaurant. The man on the screen will be bigger than you, rougher than you. He will teach you how to talk to her. He will teach you where to put your hands and he will teach you what youâre supposed to like. He will teach you to take what is yours. You must unlearn this. You must unlearn this twisted sense of love. You must unlearn the definition of pleasure and intimacy you are being taught. Kill this idea of love, this idea of entitlement, this way of scarring one another.â
this scared me and made me cry and i am almost embarrassed to post this but quite honestly i would rather fight for this rather than anything else.

Case closed.
When women scream you wonder whatâs wrong with them. When men yell you get afraid about what theyâre going to do.
A girl in my creative writing class said this in response to a story we read about witnessing intimate partner violence and it really fucked with my head because Iâve never, ever, ever, thought of it that way. (via astronomized)
Because of course.
Cristen reveals whether the human body really replaces itself every 7 years. The short answer is âno.â But we know how long it really takes⊠and how nuclear weapons led to the solution.
Who said.

To the one who loves her next, Sheâs terrified of spiders. So when youâre out late with friends and she texts you freaking out because thereâs one on her window, please go kill it. She wonât sleep otherwise. She is a total textbook introvert. She wonât reply for hours and sometimes you wonât see her for a week. You will take this personally. Donât. Sheâs simply taking care of herself and sheâll tell you how much she missed you while she was away. Sheâll get very jealous. My god, she gets so jealous. Those brown eyes will turn a deep green. She hates that about herself, and she doesnât mean to do it. Remember, she loves you. Reassure her that you love her too. On that topic, she needs constant reassurance. Tell her you love her and mean it. If you canât do that, leave. She deserves more than that. There will be nights when she goes out and drinks a little too much. Sheâll call you to bring her home. When you do, sheâll try to keep you up all night by tickling you and repeating âI love you and Iâm sorry Iâm annoying.â Sheâs not annoying. But make sure she has plenty of water and donât let her pass out until she drinks it, or she will be miserable in the morning. She is the most independent woman I know. But sheâs so insecure, it still breaks my heart. So when she starts an argument with âyou donât love me.â Do not get upset. Remind her you do and the reasons why. Sheâll come around. The cat comes first. Always. Donât ever think otherwise. Make her tea and remember the way she takes her coffee. She will notice. When sheâs having an anxiety attack, wrap her up in your arms and rub her back. Tell her sheâs safe and remind her that she has medication if she needs it. If you cannot treat her like royalty, let someone else. That girl deserves the world. Losing her is a pain you will never shake. Your world will come crashing down on you and those pieces wonât ever fit the way they used to. Donât let her go. She will love you with all sheâs got. Please give her the same. I am begging you to not hurt her. She is golden. Donât let that shine die out. Give her your all and sheâll return the favor. You will never have to ask the universe for anything ever again.

You need to be content with small steps. Thatâs all life is. Small steps that you take every day so when you look back down the road it all adds up and you know you covered some distance. It took me a long time to accept that, but itâs true. You need to have patience.
