Illuga lies down on the bed and pulls you on top of him, making sure that you're safe and comfortable first. His arms are wrapped over your waist like a weighted blanket, strong, close, ensuring you wouldn't fall off him even if you squirm.
With gentle strength, he lifts your body up until your head is tucked beneath his chin, nuzzling his face whilst sighing heavily. He had been waiting all day to do this— to pull you as close to him as possible, to surround himself with your scent until nothing else matters. The fatigue soaked into his bones from endless patrols and paperwork slowly gets lifted with your presence around him. Perhaps he should call you his little doctor instead of his little light.
“Your body is so cold to the touch… did you forget to bring a jacket out with you again?”
He lightly scolds you in a stern tone while pulling the covers over you, making sure your feet are covered with the same blanket as the one you gifted to him last winter. Even though the voice he uses might be similar to the one he scolds his men in, the tone of fondness laced under his words reveals like spring hiding beneath snow, always betraying his obvious affection towards you— a tender hearted one, the captain always is, especially for the one he yearns for the most.
“Hmh hmh... and then what happened?”
Illuga intently listens to you as you talk about your day, humming every so often or asking questions to show that he's listening. However, he never interrupts you; never will, never does. You could speak forever and he will happily listen and wait for his turn till the end of time, giving you his thoughts on the matter or praising you sincerely for all you did today even if it was just getting up from bed. He's proud of you, he always is.
“It's getting late. Don't worry about me, I'll fall asleep after you do.”
He knows you well. He knows you're weak to his words and touches, so he purposefully lowers his voice to sound as soothing as possible, lulling you to sleep by drawing small circles on your lower back and soft hums of a lullaby slipping past his soft lips. If you request him to sing you the lullaby from his childhood, the one he always sings to himself alone to sleep, he will oblige… even if he is still a little embarrassed to sing it in front of you. He's never been good at refusing a request from you.
When your eyes finally close and your breathing evens out, Illuga kisses the top of your eyelids before closing his own eyes, letting the sound of your heartbeat become the lullaby that sings him to sleep tonight.
“Good night… May only sweet dreams find you tonight… ”
