Hey I need advice. So, the morning after pill works up to five days after sex, but a pregnancy test only detects pregnancy after 2 weeks. I'm on birth control, but sometimes it doesn't work. How do I know if I need the morning after pill?

Hi I’m so sorry I’m responding late! Birth control pill should be fool proof if you are taking it right. I’m on birth control pills as well so I understand how hard it is to take it perfectly. I read somewhere that there is a three hour window where you are okay to take it late or early. For example, if you are supposed to take it at 7PM, you can take it up to three hours early at 4PM or three hours late at 10PM. If you completely miss a pill within 12 hours of when you were supposed to take it, take it as soon as you remember. Anything more than 12 hours, wait until the next day and take two at once and use another form of protection. Personally, I would try to always use a condom regardless of whether you are on birth control or not for protection against STDs. If you had a real risk of pregnancy by not taking birth control correctly and not using a condom, go ahead and use the morning after pill. It will save you from some stress and worrying.
