“Oh, I’m not an agent. Just a forensic scientist. Got my bachelor and master’s at USC. I just do the forensics behind the cases that the agents work on. I’m not that important,” she shook her head. The Brit didn’t think she could actually be an agent with what she saw they deal with. “I guess they just liked my work with LAPD and wanted me to be their forensics expert. Which is a compliment in itself, you know?”

"Oh, wow. That’s neat. So it’s crime scene photos all day long, huh?” He perked up a little with the information, taking a renewed interest in her. FBI agents were not his friends, but forensics people definitely could be. “I’m Dylan by the way.”

"No, I’m not a pick pocket man. Is it the blue hair? Cause i promise I’m not a hobo. And no offense, I don’t think I’d want the two fives in your velcro wallet anyway.”

“I won’t.” She nodded, frowning a little. “Despite what’s written there, it’s actually Charlie.”

Dylan looked at her funny. “You didn’t ask for my opinion but for what it’s worth, I think Charlotte suits you better. Charlie’s a man’s name.”

lark’s hardly paying attention as he walks past the other, mind fully absorbed with what he’s going to have for dinner later on. “wh-” he breathes, looks over his shoulder at the blue haired man. he pats down his pockets and stops moving, brows furrowed. “i don’t know how it could have fallen out— it’s a busy area, are you its not somebody else’s?”

"I don’t know,” Dylan says with a shrug and a smirk. “Unless there’s someone else named Lark Pierre, who looks like you.” He held up the ID for the guy to see.

Ah, I see. One of those. Well, guess I’ll toss it in a mailbox to eventually return to Candace. Found it outside my gym two blocks back. Thought I’d get my good deed of the day in early.

"You mean like, getting me food?” Dylan chuckled.

Aspen spun around and looked at the guy who was infact holding her driving licence. “Oh my god thank you!” quickly taking it and looking around “Where did you find this, I’ve been searching for it for like.. an hour!” she laughed and ran a hand through her hair “How can I repay you..?”

"I’ll take a venmo transfer...Kidding,” he added, making sure she knew that by the way he smiled. “You don’t owe me anything. I found it two blocks back outside the seven eleven.”

the man she’d given the bracelet to seemed a little rough around the edges but his tone was light enough and his joke made her smile. “definitely,” she agreed. “like it was meant to be! maybe it’s a sign you should start devoting more of your life to god. do you go to church every sunday?”

"Uhh, I don’t go every Sunday, no. But I definitely try to make time for it,” he said, smiling. “I haven’t seen you around here, you work with the church?”

Erin swallowed audibly, she looked over her mace over her shoulder, then her gaze met with Dylan’s. She thought about lying to him but giving the fact he could’ve already hacked her computer and already found out about her schedule, it would be useless. Besides, if she said no now, he would come tomorrow, so she really didn’t have an option. She took a second look of him, narrowing her eyes a little. Has he been working out? Before letting her thoughts go there, Erin nodded with a sigh. “Yeah.. I guess we can do that.” She said half-heartedly, pursing her lips. “My lunch plans got cancelled, so we can have a quick one.”

"Great,” he smiled. “I know a place near here that do a good lunch. It’s a short walk. Let’s go.” He paused in his step. “Unless you need to freshen up or something. Then I can wait here while you do that.”

“Forensics, actually. This is my last week being at LAPD, though. I decided to take a job with the FBI,” she gave a small nod with a smile. “I don’t think I could ever be a cop. I prefer working behind the scenes.”

That made him change his tone. “FBI huh. That’s impressive. Real impressive. You do your training at Quantico then?” He never met agents personally, at least not face to face instead of from behind bars. “Do you specialize in something there, or is that classified information?”

“No worries, here you go.” Dylan handed over the passport, a smile on his face. “You don’t want to lose your passport. That’s a hundred bucks processing fee.”

It’s not like he knows the name of any of the bars or clubs in the area yet, but he was walking past it earlier and he heard the bass in his feet that just took control and the next thing he knew he was surrounded by people just feeling their ish as some trap song raged over the speakers. He didn’t know what it was about this music, but god damn did it make him feel like a beast.

So much so that an hour or so later, after power drinking away, he was hollering in an alleyway outside of the club, “Fuck yeah,” he yells with a slur, followed by a burp that made him laugh, “Hey, wanna see me light my hand on fire?”

“Sure bro, if that gets your rocks off.” Dylan had no idea who this clown was, nobody he knew, that was for sure nor particularly cared for. Truth be told, he was more interested in what was going on in his phone but the guymaking a scene definitely was distracting him somewhat. “At least it’s more impressive than lighting farts on fire.”
