Warden Hobbes has this one habitual hard core prisoner that keeps coming back with different aliases/names and disguises ~~ Edmond Dantes, Tom Kubik, Sgt. Ron Chapman, Johannes, Carroll Oerstadt, Kainan, Michael, Number 6, John Reese, Nate, Ward Allen and John Warren

(Jim and his various characters & roles through the years as prisoners/detainees. He has really shown an amazing range of characters. Looks like with all his experience, it was about time he became the Warden, lol)

John Reese Rises.

From the darkness of the underground, to the top of the world (or the roofs of Manhattan), this is the symbolic rise of a hero.

Just look at the contrasts between those two scenes.

When we first meet John, in the subway (literally underground), he’s depressed, aimless, passive, all filthy. He doesn’t care about anything, and certainly not his appearance. And he’s all alone.

By contrast, in that finale scene, he’s at the top, in the light, smiling, he’s fighting, with a clear purpose. He has his spotless trademark suit. Clean shaven and hair perfectly disciplined (a known indicator of John’s mood). The Machine is with him, Harold is not far. The symbolic hand on his shoulder is showing us he’s not alone.

I found this interesting in my mailbox yesterday, it was a newsletter from Nelson Demille regarding a possible series with one of his characters, John Corey. When rumors circulated about a Jack Reacher movie (author Lee Child), many fans of this series mention Jim as a perfect Jack Reacher and he was. Unfortunately, Tom Cruise was looking for another series to balance with his Mission:Impossible franchise, so he won.

There had been talks about a John Corey movie or TV for awhile, but this email seems more definite with Sony TV and ABC interest. John Corey is very much a New Yorker with a wisecracking sense of humor. He is a retired NYPD officer who was shot in the line of duty, but now works for the Terrorist Task Force. Aaron Eckhardt has been interested in this series from the beginning. Alec Baldwin and John Travolta are too old. Donnie Wahlberg and Michael Weatherly have a series. Bruce Willis has the perfect personality for Corey, but don’t know if he wants to return to TV and he’d be a tad old for Corey.

If Jim wants to return to TV and NY, this would be a great role for him. Not only for the badass part that is John Corey, but will give him an opportunity to showcase his humor and finally gets some a little romance (in the books, John is married, that might change).

Since TV pilots are filmed in March, green lights for any possible series should be happening in a month or two, so if anyone hears anything please let us know.

One (among many) of my favorite things about John. I love that he’s naturally good with kids. It would have been so easy to go with the cliché “big action guy can’t handle kids” trope, but no, John is very comfortable with kids, he always knows what to say, always full of advice for them, and of course, very protective.

Sometimes you see him, and you just wonder what on Earth went through his head, thinking he should become a government assassin….
