So, I get a lot (a lot!) of people writing and asking me what work inspires and influences my own l, and honestly itās a little impossible to answer. Iām not sure if anyone else out there is like me, but the artists that inspire and make me want to push my own work further changes from week to week if not day to day.
There is so much great art out there, from creatives old and new. From illustration, to animation, film and music. It just isnāt possible to short list one or two touchstones, and I really donāt think it would be healthy to anyoneās creativity to do so.Ā
With that in mind, I would like to make Mondays my inspiration day to kick start the weeks work. I will share an artist I think is pretty darn special, as well as whatever music I happen to be listening to when doing my (Mon)dailywarm ups. Week one! @benjaminschipper is a freaking legend in the making. I just received a copy of Hodgepodge volume 1 and 1.5, as well as an awesome little sketch ( you should absolutely make a full illustration/comic about this guy Benjamin!) and these books are jaw dropping.Ā
The print quality and thought that has gone into the layout puts most other self published sketchbooks to shame. They have firmly carved themselves a place of prominance on my bookshelf.Ā
(which I totally read as āBenjaminās Chipper) and check out some of his flawless work as well as his process and sketch work. I canāt think of a better way to start the week.Ā
