Lu Han dreams of the vast field behind his house.
He remembers times of carelessness, when he was a child and could run free without worrying too much of what people will think. He could scream and jump and roll around with the other children down the street, and though they were dirt roads they would return home to a loving family.
Lu Han had to admit he was surprised the first time he saw Fern. He had imagined people smiling everywhere and children having fun with better toys. And though they were smiling, something was off about them. Children did indeed have better toys, but they did not use them. There was silence in the clean streets of his neighborhood.
Lu Han wishes to be able to utter a real laugh, it's been so long. His father would often tease him telling him that though he was good-looking he had an ugly laugh. "Your mouth opens too wide!" his father told him one day, and then proceeded to imitate him. Lu Han did not get mad, but instead laughed more with him.
He misses his parents dearly, but he knew it was selfish to use them as a sanctuary. A friend, a real friend, would be nice, he thinks.
Sometimes he went to Grass for because the clubs were funner there. Though Fern had better drinks no one ever danced. The current bar they went to was large and easy to get lost in with its two floors and wide dance floor. It was still early but the dance floor was already a vast sea of pastels. Lu Han himself was wearing a white suit.
Lu Han often goes with his friends though it wasn't strange if they ditched each other by the end. Tonight was no different. By ten o'clock his one of them went to go hit on some girl and the other was no where to be seen. Lu Han himself is trying to avoid all the stares on him and trying not to drink yet. He will eventually, just not yet.
