Summer Pest Alert in Seattle
PEST ALERT !!! PEST ALERT !!! PEST ALERT !!! PEST ALERT !!!
When the Pacific Northwest warms up, it’s not just locals who come out to enjoy the sun — invasive pests do too. Summer in Seattle brings a surge in pest activity, and unfortunately, the ones on the move right now aren’t just annoying — they’re aggressive, damaging, and tough to eliminate without help.
At Eagle Pest Eliminators, we’re seeing a serious uptick in invasive species sightings this season. Whether you’re a homeowner, property manager, or small business owner, here’s what you need to know.
What Makes a Pest “Invasive”?
Invasive pests aren’t just nuisances — they’re non-native species that disrupt ecosystems, cause structural or agricultural damage, and outcompete native insects. Once established, they spread fast and can be incredibly difficult to control without professional intervention.
Top Invasive Pests to Watch for This Summer
🔥 Argentine Ants They swarm in massive numbers and outcompete native ants for food. Once they find a way in, they nest inside walls and foundations. Store-bought sprays don’t touch their colonies.
🪳 German Cockroaches Thriving in kitchens, bathrooms, and basements, these roaches are highly adaptive. Worse, they multiply fast — a single female can produce 30,000+ offspring in a year.
🪰 Spotted Wing Drosophila (Fruit Fly Impostors) They target soft fruits like cherries and berries — making them a nightmare for local gardens and urban farms. Their larvae spoil entire harvests.
🐛 Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs They invade homes en masse and release a foul odor when threatened or crushed. Summer is prime time for outdoor activity before they sneak inside during the fall.
🕷️ Giant House Spiders While not invasive in the most technical sense, their rise in summer is often linked to increased insect activity — especially in older Seattle homes with moisture issues.
Why Seattle Homes Are at Risk
Seattle’s lush vegetation, mild summer temps, and older residential infrastructure create a perfect storm for invasives to thrive. Cracks in siding, poor crawlspace sealing, or even an open window can lead to major infestations in a matter of days.
What You Can Do Right Now
Seal Entry Points – Check windows, door frames, utility gaps, and crawlspace vents.
Cut Back Vegetation – Trim tree branches and shrubs away from your home’s exterior.
Store Food Securely – Keep fruit in the fridge and clean up crumbs quickly.
Inspect Packages & Outdoor Gear – Invasives like roaches or stink bugs often hitchhike indoors.
Don’t Rely on DIY – Invasive pests often nest deep inside structures. Surface treatments don’t reach them.
🛑 Don’t Let Invasives Take Over This Summer
If you’re already seeing signs — ant trails, droppings, chewed wires, foul odors — it’s time to act fast. At Eagle Pest Eliminators, we provide targeted, eco-conscious pest control that doesn’t just treat the problem — we eliminate it at the source.
Call today or schedule an inspection online to stay a step ahead of invasive pests in Seattle this summer. When pests are on the move, so are we.

Common Summer Pests in Seattle and Effective Pest Control Strategies
Summer in Seattle brings warm weather, longer days, and abundant outdoor activities. However, it also attracts a variety of pests that can disrupt our enjoyment of the season. In this article, we will explore the most common insects and rodents found during the summer in Seattle and discuss some of the best pest control strategies for each.
1. Mosquitoes:
Mosquitoes are notorious for their itchy bites and ability to transmit diseases such as West Nile and Zika. To best control mosquitoes, it is a must to eliminate standing water sources where they breed. Regularly emptying birdbaths and flower pots are just two sample water sources that can help reduce the mosquito population. A good mosquito repellent containing DEET or picaridin can temporarily relieve these pesky insects.
2. Ants:
Ants are a common nuisance during Seattle's summer months. They invade homes in search of food and water. Keeping food sealed tightly and cleaning up spills promptly is also crucial to prevent ant infestations. Blocking entry points such as cracks and gaps in windows and doors can also help deter ants from entering your home. If an infestation occurs, using bait traps or contacting a professional Seattle pest control service may be necessary.
3. Wasps and Yellow Jackets:
Wasps and yellow jackets are aggressive stinging insects that can threaten humans, especially those with allergies. Remove potential nesting sites such as old tree stumps or piles of debris to discourage these pests from nesting near your home. If you encounter a nest, contacting a professional Seattle pest control service for safe removal is best.
4. Flies
Flies are annoying and can spread diseases by contaminating food surfaces. Keep trash cans tightly sealed to minimize fly populations and dispose of garbage regularly. Installing screens on windows and doors can prevent flies from entering your home. For severe infestations, fly traps or Seattle professional pest control services may be necessary.
5. Spiders:
While spiders are mostly harmless, their presence can still cause anxiety for many people. To control spiders, keeping your home clean and clutter-free is essential, as they are attracted to dark and undisturbed areas. Regularly vacuuming and dusting can help eliminate spider webs and reduce their population. Using spider repellents or contacting a professional Seattle pest control service can provide further assistance if necessary.
6. Rats and Mice:
Rodents such as rats and mice are a common problem in Seattle, especially during the hot summer when they seek shelter from the heat. Seal any cracks or openings in your home's foundation and walls to prevent rodent infestations. Keep food in airtight containers and promptly clean up any spills or crumbs. If an infestation occurs, contacting a professional Seattle pest control service for effective removal and considering the best prevention strategies is best.
Conclusion:
Summer in Seattle brings pleasant weather and an influx of pests that can disrupt our daily lives. We can minimize their impact on our homes and outdoor activities by implementing effective pest control strategies tailored to each specific problem and the type of pest. Always prioritize safety when dealing with pests and seek professional help when necessary.

Seattle & Everett Pest Control Company - Wintertime Pest Control
Don't underestimate pests and bugs during the cold winter season! Many people are correct that insects and other pests have much lower activity in the winter, but this doesn't make your home safe from them. In fact, your warm home could attract the insects and pests that don't hibernate during the winter.
According to an article published by PestWorld, we would like to share some of the tips they offer to help pest proof your home before the snow comes down.
1. Moisture is a pests best friend! Ensure that you have no busted pipes or clogged drains. This also includes areas like attics and basements are kept clean and dry.
2. If you keep a stock of firewood outside, make sure its around 20 feet or more away from your home.
3. Make sure you don't have cracks or holes in your home where critters can get inside. According to PestWorld, "...rodents can fit through a hole the size of a quarter.".
Hopefully these tips will save you the trouble of uninvited guests during this winter season! If you happen to still run into a pest issue, contact our professional pest control team at Eagle Pest Eliminators.

Seattle & Everett Pest Control Company (Rodent Control)
Do you have a rodent infestation in your home? When you see the first sign of rodent infestation, you better call a professional rodent exterminator to eliminate the problem quickly. This is where Eagle Pest Eliminators (EPE) truly shines.
EPE offers quality rodent control solutions in Seattle. We effectively eliminate rodents without harming the pets and people in your home. Our professional pest management technicians are specially trained to determine the problem spots and eliminate them.
Here are other reasons why EPE is the best for rodent control in Seattle.
Professional Thorough Inspection
The first thing that EPE will do is talk with the customer to determine the place where the signs of infestations are seen. Such signs include rub marks, chewed clothes, gone insulation, and rodent droppings inside your home. After that, the technicians begin the inspection outside your home.
The trees that stretch to the roof line area are a key area to inspect. Rats are good climbers and the branches that touch the roof line area might be the path where they enter your attic under the roof tile shingles. If your roof is old, our technicians will look for holes because chances are the rodents have chewed a hole big enough to enter your home.
The under siding at the lowest part of the wall will need to be checked, too. There might be some large gaps wide enough for the rodents to sneak in. Steel wool might be used to foam under the siding.
The outside ground is another possible place for rodents to dig holes. If you don't know yet, rodents can dig underground to gain entry into the crawlspace area of your home. If there are visible rodent burrows, bait is usually applied to catch the rodents.
Identifying Poor Sanitation Areas
EPE will determine poor sanitation areas in your home. The kitchen and garage area are two places where rodents often stay. The excessive waste, clutter, and unwanted garbage are like nourishing food for rodents.
Exposed pet food, waters leaks, and standing water are other favorite hangouts of rodents, too. As a resident, you should check and correct any unsanitary areas that are conducive to attracting rodents.
Excluding Off Areas
After EPE eradicates rodents from inside of your home, recommend completing exclusion work. There will be cases when EPE can do most of the exclusion job during the first treatment, leaving only 1 or 2 areas exposed for remaining rodents left inside to move out. If you think that rodents have really been eradicated inside from inside your home, exclude off remaining spots where past entry happened.
Excluding off areas using a 1/4-inch hardware cloth with steel wool and foam will aid in keeping the rodents away. You may need a licensed contractor to install sheetrock under the sinks in your bathroom and kitchen. If there's any large gap at the bottom of doorways, metal or hard rubber kick plates should be installed.
Safe And Efficient Green Pest Control
EPE strategically uses snap traps to catch rodents in crawl spaces and attics. Baits (e.g. peanut butter, bacon, ham, or other meat products) are used to lure and eradicate the rodents from inside the home. Trapping devices are not advisable outside the home because someone might fall victim to them.
Rodent baits are not used inside the home as much as possible. The reason? Rodents reek of bad odor when they die in floors, ceiling, and walls. If there are dead rodents inside a wall or ceiling area, EPE will inject wall voids with a deodorizer to conceal the smell. Insecticide will also be injected to kill any maggots and parasites surfacing from the dead body.
EPE uses effective tools for efficient rodent control in your Seattle home. Durable rodent feeding bait stations will be placed around the outside perimeters of your home including deck areas storage rooms, and other areas that rodents usually visit. Three to four days later, EPE will return to your home to eradicate the dead bodies and/or reposition the traps as necessary.
EPE will do the follow up every few days until rodent infestation has reduced. Once heavy infestation reduces, EPE will follow up once weekly until rodent activity has been fully eliminated inside your home.
If you want to solve your rodent problem fast, call us today at (206) 365-4480! https://goo.gl/B5gV8Q
