Her testimony is so inspiring as to how she started practicing yoga that it is going to make you want to jump right in and start yourself! We are so thankful that she has agreed to represent our line and support our mission!
Here's Danielle's Story:
I have been athletic my whole life. Upon entering high school, I started running competitively on my High School Track Team and when I was a sophomore I had already starting competing at the Varsity level. Track and Field was my life, which is how I defined myself. I was an athlete. After High School, my track career was set to continue. I accepted a scholarship to a Division I school and I was to be a part of the track team, specifically a high jumper. I knew where my life was heading, I was going to run track in college and then be a coach or do something with athletes. I had it all planned out.
The summer before college everything changed. I was diagnosed with Scoliosis and my spine needed to be fused to prevent it from twisting, which would ultimately lead to a rib puncturing my lungs. I was devastated to say the least. After the surgery I did physical therapy but I was too scared to get back on the field. My identity and my plans were ruined.
At that time in my life my father started taking me to church and I started hearing God's word and his love for me. A year later I accept Jesus and my savior and my identity was now found in him, in something eternal not in something temporary.
Since the summer of 2005 I avoided most physical activities because I was too scared I would hurt my back. But at the beginning of 2014 I heard God telling me to get back into athletics. He had worked in my heart and my life was focused on him. I was now ready to go and do the things he called me to. I didn't want to get back into running competitively but I felt a draw toward yoga. The strength and flexibility of yogis were astounding. I really haven't been active since 2005 I thought it would be impossible but God told me to step out in faith. Ever since, I have impressed myself with my new abilities and inspired others to grow closer to God through Yoga. Next January I will begin my yoga instructor program and hopefully inspire more. It has been a roller coaster ride but it shows that, you may have plans, but God has even greater plans for you.
