Sam makes water foraging in icy cold springs look effortless. We only collect at this spot in the winter when it isn't full of people peeing and polluting it

We collect our own drinking water from Pitt Springs at the Econfina creek, where it flows up from the ground (the dark blue area in pic) The spring water mixes slightly with the surrounding "older" water so we run it through our zen water filter at home just to be safe. These 5 gallon glass carboys are inside handled and slightly padded covers to make the job a little easier

Fall acorns are here and ready to be turned into a delicious wild food treat. After shelling, grinding, and leaching the tannins, I dried and ground them into flour to be used in my new "Spiced Acorn Shortbread Cookie" recipe- 3/4 c acorn flour 1/2 c brown rice flour 1/2 c tapioca starch 1/4 c almond meal/flour 1 tbsp mesquite powder- optional 1 tsp bee pollen- optional 1/2 tsp cinnamon pinch of each- nutmeg, allspice, ground cloves, sea salt 1/4 c honey 1/4 c raw cane sugar 4 oz/1 stick grass fed butter unsalted -blend all ingredients except honey and butter in a food processor until uniform then add honey and butter and blend until a soft dough ball forms. Shape into a log and wrap in plastic wrap, chill until firm then slice into rounds and bake on parchment lined sheet at 350f until just beginning to brown on edges. Carefully remove from sheet and allow to cool until they crisp up!

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE copper?! Why aren't more things made out of copper!? It's warm and sparkly, rich and lustrous, refined yet sort of rustic. These earrings were my first design when I started making jewelry 5 years ago and they still remain my favorite. Made with the best elk hide and tiny woven seed beads. They take forever to make but I've never seen anything else like them on the internets, and that makes me happy!

Finished this piece today...finally💜 I started this painting months ago but have been stalling on finishing it. FUN FACT: Trypophobia is the fear of holes, clusters and irregular patterns.... I HAVE THAT!! In fact this piece was a sort of exposure therapy i imposed on myself. It's still hard to look at it without my skin crawling and waves of fear. That lotus pod is my worst nightmare! All around I love the way it turned out though.
