April is Footwear Cares® month and I participated in this extraordinary national event! I am proud to have represented Earth Brands, one of over 100 footwear companies that are coming together to help children in need. I had a great time working alongside Neil Newman, Two-Ten President, and a number of amazing volunteers that came to the NW Harvest warehouse in Kent, WA on 4/20/16.Â
During the two hours at NW Harvest, the Footwear Cares® group packaged 1,498 pounds of pasta that will provide for 1,098 meals! Everyone walked out with a smile on their face and joy in their heart knowing the impact we had on our community. NW Harvest is a non-profit organization supporting food banks in Washington State. NW Harvest distributes food to a network of more than 370 food banks, meal programs, and high-need schools throughout Washington State.

In 2015, Earth partnered with a non-profit organization and planted over 50,000 trees globally. Today, Earth is continuing this effort with a goal to plant another 50,000 trees in 2016.
Every year 32.1 million trees are destroyed both intentionally and by natural causes. We need trees to clean our soil, clean our air and protect us from the elements. Earth Brands has partnered with Trees for the Future, a non-profit organization to plant more trees and help to keep our planet happy and healthy. Will you help us plant even more trees? Buy Earth Shoes and you can register to plant 5 trees this month, just by making one purchase! Â

Congratulations to the people of Bhutan on the birth of their new prince. Â
The small kingdom in South East Asia, on the edge of the Himalayas recently welcomed the first born child of King Khesar and Queen Jetsun.  In honor of their son’s birth, a total of 108,000 trees were planted.  Each household planted a tree along with volunteers all over the country. Â
“Bhutan is unique for its policy of Gross National Happiness, a measure which balances economic growth with environmental conservation and the well-being of its people.”
The country has made a serious effort on behalf of the well being of it’s people, promising to become the first 100% organic nation!
Welcome to the world young prince. Â

Everything from driving your car to simply exhaling adds carbon dioxide (CO2) to the environment, which contributes to climate change. Trees absorb CO2—keeping the planet cooler and our bodies healthier. That’s only one of the reasons we plant a tree for every shoe purchased.  To learn more about our cause, visit http://www.earthbrands.com/plant-on-earth  Â

Hearty Stew with Easy Cleanup
Making a giant mess while cooking dinner is no ones idea of fun, right?  This one pan recipe is perfect during any season and clean up is super easy!  We call this hearty, old fashioned recipe Minnesota Stew, here’s what you need:
1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
1 Bag of Mini Potatoes
2 Sweet Onions
2-3 PeppersÂ
1/3 Cup of Sliced Baby Bella Mushrooms
2 Mild Italian Sausages
1/4 Cup of Worcester Sauce
Pinch of Salt & Pepper
In a large pan or wok, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Â Add finely sliced potatoes and allow them to cook for about 10-15 minutes, continuously stirring. Â While you potatoes are in your pan, slice your onions and peppers. Â We like to use red, orange and yellow peppers for their beautiful color. Â Add your peppers and onions to the pan and allow to cook with the potatoes for another 5-7 minutes. Â Continue to stir, check potatoes for tenderness, they should be getting fairly soft. Â Next you can slice your sausage and add to the pan along with the Baby Bella Mushrooms. Â Stir and allow your mixture to cook an additional 10 minutes. Â Finally add Worcester sauce, salt and pepper, stir and simmer. Â Serve and enjoy! Â
If you want variety, it’s easy to substitute Summer Sausage or Kielbasa. Â
