The arm had shot out, quicker than either could register. Leather creaked loudly as Hecate gathered them close and helped them stand taller on shaky feet. Hecate watched with eyes old as the dawn, a careful, calculating nature to the dark hues that made a note of every little shake and tremor, every time they rolled one foot over the other. Hecate felt a pang of sympathy shoot through her, cold as ice but did not dare voice it.
Instead, Hecate just nodded and supported them by sliding her free arm around their waist and hoisting them upright. The movement was shaky and jarring, but it helped in prying poor Gaea of the wall. The explanation was short and sweet and had Hecate shaking her head ever so slightly. “This place is no good for you.” She said gently “Perhaps you should go home?” she uttered the suggestion with a hint of restraint, as if she were wary Gaea would not take kindly to it. “-where can i take you?….in the meantime, where is safe for you?”

Feeling Hecate supporting them made it a lot easier to stand steady. They felt a wave of shame quickly wash over them before dissipating. Weakness. While their power still felt strong, untouched, their being felt vulnerable. It was a horrid sensation and one that they hated. ❝ Thank you, ❞ they murmured in reply. But as Gaea felt her arm wrapping around them, the deity couldn’t help a small smile at their old friend. ❝ Home’s not what I need right now. We’re here, and I need to be here, to try and help. If I find some unknown soulmate and can help heal this plane, the worlds, then I can find peace. ❞ And perhaps a bit more strength.
That, and they really didn’t want to leave their siblings. While Erebus was still missing, they’d seen their other two siblings and even helped in tormenting one of them. It was a bit of levity that they needed right then. ❝ When did you get here? ❞

The mighty Gaea, reduced to kissing a wall to remain upright. Hecate could do little but stare, having gone very still upon realising who it was. Slowly, the only show of movement from the witch for a while, Hecate slipped the aviators from her nose and set them upon her head. Her hair was shorn short now, in a sudden, inspiration filled evening last weak in which she was in her cups and in her books. With the wild black curls she was well known for gone, it was hard to recognise her. Yet familiar eyes, dark but pale, bright but black at the same time, stared hard at the elder Goddess. “Would you-” Hecate swallowed past the lump in her throat and steeled her spine “-would you like some help?” The My Lady almost escaped her, but Hecate held the address tight behind her teeth, offering a hand instead.

At the appearance of another person, they looked up and smiled slightly. That was definitely not a face that they had thought they’d see, not there. ❝ Hecate. Thank you, ❞ they replied, taking the proffered hand and assistance with standing. Once back on their feet, Gaea released her hand and steadied themself. ❝ I’m sure you’re wondering why, right? ❞ they asked with a weak smile, chuckling self-deprecatingly. How was one so powerful left weak and feeble right then? Well, not completely weak and feeble, but they were definitely feeling unstable. ❝ I can feel it dying, ❞ was their response to the unanswered question, ‘it’ being the earth. ❝ It’s like there’s this sickness going through it, breaking it apart. And I just hate hearing it, sensing it, ❞ they explained.
It was no surprise that they weren’t feeling well. The earth in all its forms were crumbling, and Gaea could feel it within them. With a sigh, they pushed an unruly curl back, sitting on the ground against the nearest wall. It was far easier to steady themselves like that. But the sight of shoes next to them, they looked up and chuckle self-deprecatingly. All their former grandeur was lessened right then, just feeling so vulnerable and. . .almost human. ❝ Sorry. Can you just walk around me? Don’t think my legs are the best right now. ❞
