It was no surprise that they weren’t feeling well. The earth in all its forms were crumbling, and Gaea could feel it within them. With a sigh, they pushed an unruly curl back, sitting on the ground against the nearest wall. It was far easier to steady themselves like that. But the sight of shoes next to them, they looked up and chuckle self-deprecatingly. All their former grandeur was lessened right then, just feeling so vulnerable and. . .almost human. ❝ Sorry. Can you just walk around me? Don’t think my legs are the best right now. ❞

Looking both ways before grabbing the paper showing his face, Shaw ripped it off the board, tearing it to tiny pieces before tossing it to the ground. Movement out of the corner of his eye drew his attention, hand instinctively going to the butt of the gun on his hip as he turned his head to look at the other person. ❝ You didn’t see that, ❞ he stated, not knowing what else he could say. It was obvious what he had been doing after all.

“Soulmates? How exciting!” Eve squealed, bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet. “I knew Adam wasn’t mine. I can’t wait to find them! Though I think I know who mine might be,” she sung softly to herself.

The Council wanted her and those like her to be brought in and to answer for their insubordination. Or that was how they seemed to see it. ❝ You get branded yet? ❞
