i've probably already reposted this but it occurs to me this was the best way for me personally to start the 80th anniversary in retrospect

that entire thing about them concluding the thomas and gordon friendship too soon was an opinion i've held for over 2 decades, since watching the original run. it's funny that i finally got to say it somewhere when i never intended to talk about them to begin with

hell boomhauer probably could've helped hank become manager of strickland propane in the original show. but hank wouldn'tve accepted his help out of personal pride

One of the biggest stumbling blocks when discussing the whole "Does This Media Like Women?" thing is folks thinking the answer can be measured empirically by counting how many women there are. Here's a piece of media where all of the viewpoint characters are women. Its speaking cast is 90% women. Textually explicit lesbian romance is a one of the main drivers of the plot, and half of the dramatic leads have backstories and motivations substantially informed by their relationships with their mothers.
