So, you’re dating my ex. Well, have been on and off for almost the past 2 years. Yes, keep reminding me of how much he showers you in gifts and money. Because he practically squeezed my money out of me. So don’t ever take that for granted.
I hear more about you than I’d like to. I hear all about how he goes out of his way to see you at work, sends you gifts, and gave you a second chance when you really didn’t deserve it.
For me? I was lucky to have him come to my house once in a while. When I was sick, he immediately went home from work, avoiding my weak, ill self. All I wanted was him by my side, but I was “too gross” to look at. I left him without being granted a second chance. My workplace, which is the same as yours, was “too weird and awkward” for him to visit. He never visited me once.
You have the same blonde hair I had when I dated him. I’m sure he loves it. When I put lowlights in it, he almost had an anxiety attack.
When I didn’t go tanning, he would notice. He would comment on how I was looking paler and if it was because I couldn’t afford it. I had standards for him to meet, but for you, however, he seems to accept your every flaw.
I was his source of transportation, his resource for boredom, his object to look at. I was a different kind of girl to him. I didn’t matter as much as you do. My piercings angered him. It was one of the reasons we broke up. He didn’t want me going off to college. I offered he move in with me, but that was an immediate “no.” He commented on how much his job sucked, but was never willing to change it. He didn’t like a lot of things about me and I had to change for him.
You? It’s like he understands. He knows how much effort it takes to please someone, so he doesn’t ask for much. College is okay with him now, moving isn’t a big deal, and changing jobs is just a breeze. Nothing phases him anymore. It’s like I was simply put on this Earth just so he could complain.
I’m still not good enough. See him talking to me? Didn’t think so.
So next time you have some sort of argument with him, remember these things; realize how much more you mean to him than I ever did. I was just an object, you’re a person.
