Dyeing the longer part lighter before it transitions to black is definitely an option. Won't it be too subtle to notice otherwise? Unless that's what you're going for. I usually see people go lighter with darker hair. ^ Ah that was what past me thought but I saw something similar

and think it works so I wanna change my vote hahahaha
