FINALE DESIGN BOARDS
Some image from the photoshoot.
Method of construction
The Blazer
First measure 25cm from the hem of the blazer and mark all way round. Then unpick all the buttons that sit on and bellow the 25cm line just marked on. The cut along the 25cm mark to crop the blazer. Overlock the new hem of the blazer. Then flip the facing out and measure 4cm to create a new hem. Sew 4cm up and the edge of the facing. Press the hem, and top stitch the bottom of the hem to secure in place. Press all the seams.Tack the jean waist band on to the sleeves to secure them in the correct placement
The skirt
First try skirt on and measure how much need altering. Then cut out the waist band and take out the amount measured to fit. On the skirt cut out at the back the amount that needs taking out then sew seams together excluding the waistband. With a double thread sew down back to secure the hem and add decorative stitch. Secure hems connect the stitch that have been taken out. For the waistband take out 1cm then top stitch top and bottom of the waistband to reattach to the skirt. Create the decorative tooth -Start by cutting out the shape of the tooth in a piece of denim and sewing that onto another piece of fabric I've gone for another piece of denim in a darker colour. On my illustration to add depth to the drawing I shaded various parts, so I need a way to create the depth onto this sample. To do this on the man part of the tooth I started out by sewing lines where I wanted the depth to be then machine embroidering lines side by side to mimic the shading of the picture. I then created a small split in the darker denim fabric in each section I created with the line on the tooth and stuffed each section with wadding to create a 3D effect and make the sample look more like a tooth. Then for the root of the tooth I wanted to show a different style of how I can create the definition, so I cut two thin strips of denim and frayed the edges again to mimic the shading of the drawing I then sewed them onto the root and under the main part of the tooth again to create depth and shading. Sew the decorative pocket on and add print. Hand embroiders red thread to add extra detail to the print.
The top
Follow the princess line dress block stopping at the waist of the pattern block. Cut the paper pattern out then shorten from the bottom of the waistband on each pattern piece by 6cm. Add an extra 2cm on to the centre back side seam for the fastening. Cut the pattern pieces out into the fabric, cut the back and front in denim and the side back and side front in the same fabric as the blazer. Attach the front and side front together by the side seams together by the side seam matching the notches up. Overlock and press the seams. Sew the side back and back together by the side seams (don’t attach the two back pieces together so that the fastening can go there) Unpick the waistband on a pair of jeans and attach on the top of the garment and over lock the back of the top. Overlock and hem the bottom of the top. Attach the belt loops back on the top.
These are pattern pieces from the top I created.
These are the final designs that I have chosen the last one being the final design. Again all have elements of a deconstructed blazer.
The five designs out of the ten that didn't make it into the final five however they all have the same element of the blazer and the other pieces of denim the designs have all got element of the of the deconstructed blazer.
Facial development outcomes.
These are the prints I created I decided to go with the last print as I thought it would be most effective on my garment.
This is the pose development I did to be ready for my designing process.
piecing and tattoos can enhance the mouth and lips by accessorising the mouth and create a different look which can be more effecting.
This page highlights the mythology behind the cupids bow and how the lips became to have the name. also link back to the passion that the lips carry as lips can gestures love and cupid links this back as he got the connotations of love
This page covers the concept grills and tooth gems, these are very popular in pop culture and can say anything and elevate the look of anything, many rappers and photoshoots can be seen using these thing to vamp the look up. I created a textile sample of a tooth gem by creating a tooth and the hand embroidering a heart to mimic a gem.
This is my favourite pages out of my sketchbook called "brush your teeth" this page shows of the teeth element of the mouth and this is when I decide to go further into my research of the lips and expand into the mouth, as the lip element was very limiting. these pages show off the teeth and the inside of the mouth showing the development of my work and how I've gone further in to my concept and research.
This illustration page show the lust lips can create and how lips can also be seen a a sexual part of that as lips connect to kiss and create passion and tension between two people. this page symbolises this through the drawing and the magazines pieces.
Created an abstract way to show the lines in the lips instead of doing the actual shape of the lips breaking down to concept of the lips add Angelina fibre to create more depth and mimic the line in the lips further.
Pencil work experimentation tried to create shading in the lips pencil with the lines of the lips.
illustration experimentation from primary images.
