Self Aware (Game O Verse)

In which the main character's whole program and goal is to be self-aware of being in a video game. Their whole self-awareness makes them create a plan to escape their game completely with the help of their villain; they escape, leaving their world as the only peaceful world with no villain or hero.

Together, the two venture through space trying to find their purpose beyond their codes, disguising themselves as NPCs in different games just trying to find any meaning.

A cycle of watching the hero eventually defeat the villain and destroying their world in the process. The hero and villain duo wonder about their purpose and if they did do what they were programmed to do, would that make them whole?

The hero wonders about their purpose and continues to try to find a place in different worlds, while the villain just tries to spend their time in fullness in each world, but still reminds themselves that these worlds are only a temporary settlement.

The two have no real home to cling to or anything that they want to achieve. Sometimes wondering if defeating each other was the only way to truly find something worthy of living.

This is just a random idea, doesn't completely make sense, but I just wanted to write it.
