SO HEY WHO WANTS TO HELP ME PRINT BOOKS if you would that would be really cool uh maybe have a look at this here thing! It’s the kickstarter for Volume 2 of The Property of Hate! Y’all wanted it, and Make That Thing are helping me to make… well, that thing.

We got badges and stickers and all kindsa stuff but most of all we gon’ get more delicious readable books! Oh, and if we get enough and then enough again? We get another print of the FIRST volume of TPoH with a new front cover to match this second one! Oh me oh my.

Also if you don’t know what the heck The Property of Hate is maybe go over here and read the whole thing for free? And then tell your grandma about it! Maybe your friends too, and your dog. I love dogs.

(Scrooge) "Hey, we don't know it was me that set off that trap! Anyway I took care of those stone golems so it hardly matters."

“Aye, yeh did make pretty quick work on those.” Moreso than he’d expected from such a scrappy little creature. But then again, elderly ducks weren’t meant to be fighting things like he did either.

“Just mind tha’ tail of yoours.” He lifted up his torch a little, eyes shifting side- to-side for discrepancies in the patterns of the walls. “Et looks like the corridors are getting narrower up ahead…”

"I didn't rummage through your things. I don't know what you're talking about," Kaos says, wearing a fake mustache the entire time.

“Well, we appear to have a remarkable similarity, in that we share our supplier for disguises.”

That supplier being, namely, Basil.

Pity smiles weren’t something Wheatley usually picked up on, despite the fact that one would think he’d have had a lot of practice with them... In fact, the prompt and direct response from the stranger seemed to let him on he was actually doing a good job, as it was.

“That sounds, uh, fantastic, actually! Just the sort of thing I was looking for. I’m uh...” He twirled his wrist, looking for another excuse. “From out of town. Haven’t the faintest where anything is here at all.” He gave a small sort of laugh.

((Welp, school, again... That’s happening, and now I have to sleep like a normal person once more. While I won’t be chatting anybody up OOC tonight I might try and do a couple replies because kissanime isn’t LOADING rn

EDIT: I lied. I edited a webomic wiki while the thing finished loading the last like 30 seconds of the darn episode. It’s getting late, and I should probably be turning in at this point even tho i wanna write.))

RGB stiffened, not believing her for an instant. He thought, perhaps, something had gone wrong with his hat. He brushed it off, replaced it, and then after another paused, ran his hands up his antennas. No, nothing stuck on those, either... His suit was all normal, and-...

Something was off about his vision... He tried to focus to figure out what, and then one antenna crinkled downwards in exasperation.

“Hilarious. I’d assume no reason would imply no responsibility?”

He gave a disgruntled quack, standing right back up and away into his own space. After a moment’s fussing with sleeves and recollecting himself, he lifted his cane up to hold in both hands. “Ah wouldn’t have made anything of meself if I weren’t sharper than all the sharpies, and don’t yoou forget et.”

This time, the end of his cane made the inspection for him, Scrooge safely at the distance of the other end. He nudged her head to one side, then tilted it up, angling his glasses to try and place her. “Ah’m going to say-… Otherworldly artifact… Eh…“ He glanced off to the side, mumbling while running through the hundreds of memories of things like that he’d found. Sword? Spellbook? Stone? Instrument?

Kaos giggled as the wealthy fowl composed himself. A surprisingly cute reaction. “Hehehe, sorry, I shouldn’t have underestimated a fellow adventurer.”

Clearly an old pro, very professional. The excited youths and reluctant aging traveller had their charms, but it was a rare and welcome change to encounter an experienced troublemaker with a lust for life.

At first when the end of the cane approached her face Kaos thought she was in for a not undeserved walloping. Instead she was being examined which she allowed, but not without some fussing. Well, she couldn’t blame McDuck for admiring her; she did make a pretty adorable squirrel.

“You got it!” Kaos gave a congratulatory thumbs up. Kaos had taken a peek at more than a few adventures, mostly for her journal, but only one item had caught her attention enough that she had gotten careless. “There was a spellbook, said to be owned by the feared sorceress Magica de Spell.” The squirrel frowned and her ears lowered a bit. “I really wanted it for myself or at least to get a peak…”

The tip of the cane lowered, and Scrooge couldn’t help but lean forward a bit again in recognition. “Magicia de Spell... She’s been chasing mah number one dime for an amulet for years now. But Ah remember when et wasn’t that she was after... Her book was nearly lost to some bushytail, and I’d been after something similar, without realizing it was hers...” It hadn’t gone well for either of them, accidentally thwarting each other while the sorceress had retrieved her spellbook.

“Of coourse, that was back before she became one of mah more regular threats...”

“So, just animals, then. And humans. Organic matter, as they say. So, no worries on my end, for it, yeah?”

“Assimilation, no. But it can still attack you without assimilating you. A couple of our guys found that out the hard way.” 

Copper hadn’t been assimilated - the Thing had settled for mauling him - and it wasn’t clear whether it had murdered Fuchs for being in its way or whether the biologist, faced with a nightmarish choice, did the only thing possible to save himself from a worse fate.

“Ah.” Granted, lots of things could attack you, here, if they wanted. But the circumstances were (usually) tightly controlled. The ones on the front lines were the scientists, or the test subjects. Whealey, as it was, was neither.

“But you’re all right, yeah? Still um, y’know...” Normal.

Character Tropes: Basil of Baker Street (The Great Mouse Detective)

Kay, so I saw @konako made a few of these with the Kung Fu Panda characters and I thought it was a great idea. So if it’s cool with you, Konako, now and then I’m probably going to do one with a favorite character of mine. Basically the idea is a GIFset identifying a character and his/her TV Tropes. Aaaand Basil seemed like an obvious good place to start. :D

“Et’s not paranoid if yeh’ve got a 3-acre bin filled with about a trillion dollars worth of coin. For all I know, yoou’re the type of person tha’ I have booby traps made up specifically to catch.” His eyes narrowed. “Why are yeh here?”

“You wouldn’t, since I do.” He dangled a peculiar ring of keys in front of his new Hero. They looked more like alchemical symbols than any proper locking device. Nevertheless, they worked, and the (slightly glowing?) door opened on silent hinges. A yellow road stretched over purple grass, trees came in colors that trees, often, did not. The sunlight was casting shadows in all the wrong direction for this time of day.

“Mind your step, now.”

“Uh, sure thing.”

Palmer squinted as he examined the new environment - some kind of parallel universe was his guess. The strange colors startled him. This sure wasn’t the world he was used to. He paused before stepping through the door, more curious than afraid. Honestly, Palmer still had more than a few questions about his new duties. Maybe it was an instinct thing.

“If I’m allowed to ask, what is this place?”

“Of course you can ask.”

The television stepped through the door past the new recruit in dead silence, striding off several yards ahead before casting a side-glance back.

“Explanations are-... Well, rather difficult. It is, as you might guess, another world, which I live in and which is currently under threat. Anything beyond that, well... It depends on your point of view.

But it certainly isn’t Kansas.”
