Maya is capable of perfectly duplicating any physical movement or action she sees with perfection after watching it only once, so long as it is within her capacity as a human; ie. she cannot stop a helicopter from taking off simply because she saw Steve Roger’s do it.
Maya was born completely deaf, but she can read lips perfectly- even in different languages. If she sees someone speaking a language, due to her powers, she is then capable of speaking that language. She learned to speak by mimicking other people’s lip movements.
Because she relies solely on visual cues, she’s pretty useless in the dark and if she can’t see a person’s lips then she will not know what they’re saying. However, she can read lips from a distance, at the corner of her eye, and through thin material masks (ie. Spider-Man) but not thicker masks (ie. Iron Man)
She is a concert level pianist and an excellent dancer. In the beginning, most of what she learned was from using her powers, but as she got older she further developed the skills on her own.
Her father was Willie “Crazy Horse” Lincoln, a mob enforcer working for the Kingpin, Wilson Fisk. Under Fisk’s orders, her father was killed, but Fisk promised him he would take in Maya. He raised her to believe that Daredevil killed her father.
She ended up in a relationship with Matt Murdock (while hunting Daredevil). Due to watching recordings of him fight, Maya was able to take Daredevil down and almost killed him, but stopped when she discovered he was the man she loved.
Matt was able to convince her that he couldn’t possibly have killed her father (he was just a child at the time of his death) and Maya figured out that it was Fisk. Full of rage, she confronted him with the intent to kill. She shot him in the face.
Maya left the US for a time, doing some soul-searching after all the lies she had grown up with and horror of her actions finally hit her. Upon her return, she had wanted to reach out to Matt again, but she didn’t know how to.
As it turned out, the bullet to the face wasn’t enough to kill Fisk and, upon learning this, Maya visited him in prison. Despite losing an eye, Fisk tells her he doesn’t blame her for what she did and that he still loves her like a daughter.
Unsatisfied, Maya left the US again and has been living in Japan ever since. However, after the events of The Snap, she found herself travelling back to the States, hoping she can help, but also intent on learning the fate of the people she used to know.
