:]
You and Susan were... Close, closer than what one can define as just friendship, after all as far as you knew friends didn't intertwine themselves with each other in the fashion you two did.
You simply adored Susan, from how assertive she was, to how she was unafraid to demand something she wanted.
It's fine, it's cool
And one of the things she wanted was you.
The only daughter of a wealthy business man, cherished and beloved.
You can say that we are nothin', but you know the truth
She would spend nights with you, under the guise of a simple sleepover between two close friends.
And guess I'm the fool
With her arms out like an angel through the carriage sunroof
"We should run away," she said one night wrapped up in your arms, "Pardon? What do you mean?" She sat up, her legs crossed as she stared at you with a grin, "We should run away, far from here, somewhere where we can be," she clasped your hands in hers, you looked away from her, causing her grin to falter
"Susie, I would love to go wherever with you but-" "You can't just leave your family and run off with me, I know." She said plopping back down on the bed.
I don't wanna call it off, but you don't wanna call it love
It wasn't the first time she had asked, and it wouldn't be the first time she'd ask you to run away with her.
But you couldn't no matter how much you desired it, you were the only family your father had left, and if you left, who would he have?
You only wanna be the one that I call "Baby"
Everything came to a still when your father suddenly sat you down, he was getting older and he wanted to see that you taken care of before he went.
So with a heavy heart you asked him to arrange a marriage with someone he'd think you'd like.
You can kiss a hundred boys in bars
Shoot another shot, try to stop the feeling
You thought you'd have time, that it'd take him months before he found a match, but he found one fairly quickly, a young man, your age, a sweetheart in all senses of the word, and he was smitten with you the moment you got to chatting.
He was nice, but he wasn't Susan.
You can say it's just the way you are
Make a new excuse, another stupid reason
Your father was ecstatic that you liked the man he picked out for you, he was already steps ahead of you preparing the wedding, asking you what colors you'd like, what dress, what type of flowers and decorations, only the best for his daughter.
Good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
Well, good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
Everything felt hazy, but you arranged for Susan to meet you one day for a walk in the park, your arm in hers, her purple parasol resting on her shoulder while you carried a soft pink one in your hands.
"Susie, I need to tell you something, and I fear you'll utterly despise me for it," you spoke stopping in your tracks, she raised an eyebrow looking at you to continue.
"I am engaged to be married next spring," "Engaged?!" Her parasol slipped from her shoulder, suddenly closed and held onto as if it was a cane.
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
Words were exchanged between the two of you, harsh words, mostly coming from her but nonetheless.
You were getting married and there was nothing either of you could do about it.
Good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
Well, good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
You wouldn't see Susan for a long while, being wrapped up in wedding planning, countless dressings, cake testing, practicing dances, sending out invitations, everything.
I'm cliché, who cares
It's a sexually explicit kind of love affair
And I cry, it's not fair
When you saw her again it was her taking up the title of the maid of honor, wearing a dress adjacent to yours.
I just need a little lovin', I just need a little air
Your heart ached looking at her, just as hers ached Everytime you were near your fiance.
He wasn't anything special in her eyes, he was just a man.
A man lucky enough to have you as his bride.
I think I'm gonna call it off even if you call it love
Oh why couldn't it be her facing you up on that alter?
Why couldn't she wed you? Why was it that in this lifetime she couldn't have you?
I just wanna love someone who calls me "Baby"
Why was it that she would've had to be born a man if she wanted a chance to be with you?
You can kiss a hundred boys in bars
Shoot another shot, try to stop the feeling
The man you were going to wed brought you flowers, gifts, clothes you adored, he took note of your interests, you felt bad, he was a good person but you couldn't love him.
You can say it's just the way you are
Make a new excuse, another stupid reason
Not in the way you loved Susan, not in the way a bride should love her groom.
Good luck, babe! Well,good luck!
Well, good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
But maybe you could try?
There was no changing this so what was the harm in gaslighting yourself into believing you love him? Into believing that you adored him in the way he adored you?
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
Susan was there, in the corner watching as you stared at yourself in the mirror, hands running over your gown.
Good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
She got up and walked towards you, pulling you away from the mirror, clasping your hands in hers one last time.
"We should run away, this may be our last chance to do so," she said her eyes staring straight into yours, you smiled pitifully, "I can't, Susie you know I can't." She broke her hands away from yours.
"Are you truly content with this? With being his wife?"
You shrugged, "I can try to be."
Well, good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
Susan shook her head before leaving you to your lonesome, to wait for someone to come and fetch you to go down the aisle.
Ooh, yeah
Ooh
Susan watched as you walked down the aisle in your dress, flower petals scattered across the floor.
She watched as you pressed your lips against his just as you had done to hers so many times before.
And when you wake up next to him in the middle of the night
You hadn't seen nor heard from Susan in years, you had sent countless letters praying for a response but none ever came.
Your father was still alive and well although he was growing older by the day, your husband was still as sweet as when you had met him, and you were a mother now too.
With your head in your hands, you're nothing more than his wife
But you couldn't love your husband, no matter how hard you tried, as a friend you could but not as a lover, you simply played your part as a seemingly loving wife secretly longing for Susan.
And when you think about me all of those years ago
You're standing face-to-face with "I told you so"
Susan on the other hand tossed every letter you had sent into a drawer hidden away, never opening them yet never throwing them out.
You know I hate to say it, "I told you so"
You know I hate to say it, but, "I told you so"
She had grown bitter throughout the years, the tolls of live seeping in, fighting for rights, fighting for acknowledgement and being dismissed over and over until they made some progress.
You can kiss a hundred boys in bars
Shoot another shot, try to stop the feeling well, I told you so
You still had a place in her heart, even as she became old and wrinkled she still had a daydream of running away with you, far from anyone that knew you.
You can say it's just the way you are
Make a new excuse, another stupid reason
But that dream would stay one, you would never leave your family, maybe if they were cruel it would be easier to leave but they weren't.
Good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
Well, good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
Maybe in another life the two of you were able to run away and be together but in this one? The two of you were doomed from the start.
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
You died surrounded by your children, peacefully and you passed through the pearly gates, gleefully waiting to see your father again.
Good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
Well, good luck, babe! Well, good luck!
Meanwhile Susan awoke to brimstone and sulfur, the smell of blood stinging her nose as she waltzed into cannibal town.
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
You would go about your afterlife, you were happy but you couldn't help but feel like something, someone was missing.
It must've been unimportant as you couldn't recall what exactly was missing.
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
Susan on the other hand, could remember what was missing, someone who she'd never see again, she was in hell and the only place you could possibly be was in heaven.
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
Maybe in another lifetime, in another universe the two of you could be together, but not in this one.
You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling
Happy April fools day folks!!! Hope you enjoyed this silly little thing that I had rotting in my wips since Halloween until I took it out and revamped it, I uh, don't plan on writing for Susan like this again, in a romantic context so yippee??
ALSO SOME TIDBITS BC I GOT REAAAALLY into the reader and her father's dynamics despite not going into it
I feel like he's kinda Belle's father [Maurice] from beauty and the beast coded, but more protective of his only child, if she said she didn't want to be wed he would've found a way for her to take over everything he left behind, or if she said that she loved Susan he would've supported her despite the views society held up in that era, 10/10 parent that reader just wanted to make proud no matter the cost, but he was already proud of her :]
Anywho hope you all tune in for Angel dust and Molly's birthday fics later, which I assure you have no jokes>:] Good night folks thank you for tunin' on in!

OH MY GOD. I AM. I AM SOBBING. SHAKING. CRYING ON THE FLOOR. WHICH IS A GOOD THING. 10/10 no notes. except. I have notes. One moment. Okay. Let’s go. I’m sat.
Excellent song choice btw. (Also I apologize if this sounds stalker ish but many moons ago I recall you mentioned good luck babe old lady Yuri. Is. Is this it. or am I forgetting another fic. Did I imagine that post entirely. ADHD is. So fun. Anyway.)
And finally onto my actual comments, in the most incoherent fashion possible because. Because my brain is braining today.
10/10 sadness. Would recommend. Why. Why do have me crying over Susan.
I ADORE THE IDEA OF HER FIGHTING FOR EQUAL RIGHTS. LIKE YESSS.
the letters. The letters. THE LETTERS. THE.
L E T T E R S. THE DRAWER OF UNOPENED LETTERS. THE WAY WE NEVER FULLY GET OVER IT. EXCUSE ME WHILE I SCREAM INTO THIS PILLOW.
The dad character has my HEART holy moly. He’s trying so hard to make us happy and he was so excited for the wedding too. I just. Rarararararsjdhskdhdkshxfjfh TEARS. Long live whatever his name is.
”run away with me.” The walks in the park. it’s so bittersweet I just AGHHHH.
the fact we don’t even remember her in heaven too like NOOOOO.
Anyway this doesn’t cover anywhere close to everything I wanted to say but. Chefs kiss. Yummers.
ALSO NO WORRIES ABOUT SOUNDING STALKER-ISH, I DID MENTION GOOD LUCK BABE OLD LADY YURI AGES AGO!! THIS IS IT THIS IS THE FIC I WAS TALKING ABOUT I love when folks bring up fic ideas or whatever I mentioned in old posts >:]
Susan fighting for equal rights and all that good stuff in her youth is one of my favorite headcanons I LOVE RARARA, I gotta draw a young human version of her one of these days!
I imagine that before Susan died she did open the letters and read every single one of them multiple times but by the time she did the reader had already passed on >:]
AAA YES THE DAD, I LOVE DAD CHARACTERS AAAAA, I imagine the dad went through having horrid parents and then his wife died due to an illness when the reader was still an infant or something and this man goes "Alright, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure you grow up loved."
I WILL HAVE HIM COME BACK, he doesn't have a name but I DO have a name for one of the readers grandkids [kids??] Because he's an actual OC of mine, Robert [he's the husband of one of my OCs Clementine, he's first mentioned in this fic I tOTALLYYYY meant the parallels and definitely didn't realize how they paralleled until after I wrote it :>] I imagine he's the kinda dude who LOVES any type of wedding or party, dude pulled out all stops if the reader wanted to play tea party as a kid.
He did live long!! He died at 97!
The funny thing is that If her father hadn't like broken his cycle the reader would've ran away the first time Susan asked, because I imagine she asked like once or twice a week and Susan is understanding she knows why the reader won't leave but that doesn't stop her from wishing, if this was in more modern times or more accepting ones the father would have no qualms about supporting his daughter and her girlfriend, like dude's the type of dad to wear "free dad hugs" shirts or signs at pride parades, or conventions, has a little flag of whatever his daughters sexuality is on his work desk in support like Captain Holt does when Rosa comes out In Brooklyn 99, very supportive he doesn't care who his kid ends up with as long as she's happy
[I got this screenshot off of reddit]
HEHEHEHE so I originally wasn't going to have the reader forget Susan and have them both longing for the other but never being able to reunite [because I don't think Susan's onboard for redemption and the reader won't leave her family.]
But decided that was too angsty so the reader just has the sense that someone is missing but she can't remember, she can't remember why she never really loved her husband in life. [speaking of him there's three outcomes to this, either he goes to hell which doesn't make really sense because he is genuinely a good person which makes the reader feel guilty for not being able to love him, or the reader could also like men and without remembering Susan she does eventually fall in love with her husband, or they divorce it's up to the reader :]
She has traces of these memories but she can't remember the person it was with
And the brain likes to fill in gaps too, so there's very well a chance the reader fills in those gaps with someone else.
ANYWAYS I'm glad you enjoyed it Butterfly anon!!!!
Live laugh love the dad from this fic (i love Brooklyn 99 and when i saw Captain Holt had the flag for Rosa the first time i watched i was like AWWWWW).
I too remembered the old lady yuri post, glad I’m not the only one lol.
actually what you said about Susan opening the letters AFTER WE DIED breaks my angsty little heart 😭
I want to make it clear that I’m not calling anyone out for anything specific; but I want to set a few boundaries when it comes to DMing me.
first and foremost, my messages break sometimes. If you have recently (or not lol, I’ve had an unread for weeks), messaged me and I haven’t looked at it or responded to it, it’s because SOMEONE (tumblr) won’t let me. (And I’ve checked I’m not blocked)
secondly, I’m totally okay with you guys DMing me!! Tho I prefer having things sent in through my ask box. That said, I am constantly under siege from scam/spam bots, fake donation accounts (which make me feel so guilty omg) and *shudder* being followed by bots whose only post is a link to a porn site. If I don’t think you’re a real person I will not be nearly as excited to reply to you.
on that note:
Do not ask me for money. I cannot give you any. I’m sorry but it makes me feel like crap and I can’t give tumblr strangers money even if it’s a legit organization.
NO NSFW DMs. I’m so serious.
i. Will. Not. Give. Out. Personal. Info! Where I live is none of your business. My job is none of your business. Etc. My blog and my IRL are separate. Don’t try to get info about who I am IRL. It’s basic online safety.
Other than that just be nice to me and ur good. I do forget to text ppl back as well tho so pls have patience 😭
these rules apply to asks too, but i typically just get DMs
I also reserve the right to block anyone I want to.
incredibly elaborate bit me and @iclimbtreestofeelalive came up with while i was playing pokemon Y iii couldn't pick if i should put this on the art blog but whateverr hello if you scrolled down this far sorry for the long post okay i love you

As I wandered my path of nightly doom, a little girl came up to me in the street. She handed me a sticky note, with nothing on it. She looked completely overjoyed.
And it was then, in that moment, that I came to realize that I did not wish to die. I simply yearned to no longer be a person.
The burden of death not to be a release but a prison worse than even my own flesh, the very flesh that kills itself in the name of survival.
look around.
The waterfall does not carry the burden of flesh, nor does it carry the burden of mind. Its purpose is to simply be.
And yet it’s absolutely breathtaking.
Falling over and into itself. Sustaining life while making no effort to do anything at all. Such a valuable and beautiful thing, and it is unaware that it exists, for it cannot form such a thought.
roaring, crashing noise, but never shushed. Soothing, even.
