Turning Food Into Something Unexpected with @seriousdesign
To see more of Matijaâs unusual mashups, follow @seriousdesign on Instagram.
It was the steak flip-flops that gave Matija Erceg (@seriousdesign) the idea. He was a little bored with his day-to-day job as a web developer, and when he saw a picture of a pair of flip-flops with soles made out of steak, inspiration struck him.
âI imagined what it would be like to wear them,â says Matija, who is based in Vancouver, Canada. âI wanted to evoke the same reaction of delightful disgust in other people, so I set off on a mission to pair food and everyday objects into âserious designs.ââ
Matija started with some shrimp headphones. âImagine the feeling of putting them into your ears, as you would earbuds,â he says. âI think that seeing them on the ends of the wires helps imagine the sensation.â
From an iPod made of cheese to a banana gun, there is seemingly no end to Matijaâs tweaks. So far he has confined himself to Photoshop, but says heâs considering making real sculptures. âIâve been studying the art of fake food, like you see in some restaurant window displays,â he says. âMaybe a trip to Japan is in the cards?â

2014 has been a year of outfits 4 me
Afropunk Fashion #upcoming
Everyone else was doing it so here are my 10 most reblogged outfit posts from 2014!
I definitely wore clothes a lot less this past year, as I became insanely busy trying to balance so many things at once, with two YouTube channels, freelance work, and directing several short films. The few times I have been able to dress up, Iâve found myself wearing more mature clothing, and more colour than ever before. As my style continues to develop, I feel as if Iâve learned a lot more about coordinating and become more definite about what works for me. That said, 2015 is a new year, which means plenty of opportunities to disregard logic and impulse buy all the things!
