Good morning Vikings! We would like to extend a warm welcome to La Tanja "LT" Batiste, our new Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine! "LT" is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Sports Medicine Department and providing medical coverage for the 10 Division II NCAA sports teams and the D'Lytes Cheerleading Squad. It's halfway through the week! And it's #WhatsHappeningWednesday! ECSU recently welcomed 27 high school students for this year's ACE academy. Their weeklong stay included workshops, rocket launch demonstrations, unmanned aerial systems flying competitions, hot air balloon demos, and field trips to the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City and the Wright Brothers National Memorial. 2015 PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship Highlight Show Promo -- Debuts July 1 at 7pm ET

Time to show that Viking Pride!   ECSU Viking William White will be one of six featured in the 2015 PGA Minority Golf Collegiate Golf Championship Highlight Show, tonight on the Golf Channel!  

The program will debut at 7:00pm tonight with replays scheduled to air on the Golf Channel on Tuesday, July 7 from 3:00pm-4:00pm, and Tuesday, July 21 from 2:00-3:00pm.

Do you know the story of ‪‎ECSU Alumni‬ Valerie Edwards? If you don't, you should. Ms. Edwards earned two degrees at ‪#‎ECSU‬ in mass communications and aviation science (http://ow.ly/Ov7TQ) and is now a M.S. candidate in Columbia University's journalism program. She is also a Staff Writer for Women in STEM (http://womeninstemnyc.com/) and has a website showcasing her work samples and personal projects (http://iamvalmarie.com/). This week kicks off with the ACE Summer Camp here at ECSU!  Things started early this morning with Hot Air Balloon lessons, courtesy of Tom Lattin of Over The Rainbow Balloon ADventures and Brian Hoyle of Hot Air Marketing LLC​. These gentleman have been across the world doing educational and recreational events (including the Freedom Balloon Fest​)!  This morning they taught our ACE students the science and importance of ballooning to all forms of aviation. Thank you to these men and the Aviation Science Program at ECSU​ for the amazing experience!

‪#‎FactFriday‬! Did you know ‪‎ECSU‬ has a Masters of Elementary Education program? This program will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for effective teaching. This program is hosted through the University, the Local Education Agency, the community, and families.

Did you know Miss ECSU Suehier Ali is currently ranked FIRST for the #50Queens50Kings Competition? The HBCU Royalty Dictionary highlights newly elected HBCU Campus Queens, Kings and SGA Presidents. Voting is unlimited until Saturday, July 4 at 11:59pm! The top 20 mixture of queens, kings and SGA Presidents will be inducted into the dictionary! Congratulations to the eight new trainees selected to participate in the ECSU Maximizing Access to Research Careers Undergraduate Students Training in Academic Research (E-MARC U*STAR) Program this summer!

Eastern AHEC recieves $700,000 Grant

A rainy #TuesdaysThoughtOfTheDay to everyone! Great things are happening here at #ECSU! The Eastern Area Health Education Center has received a $700,000 grant from the Duke Endowment to fund a sub-center based out of our Pharmacy /Health Services Building. 

So what does all that mean?

They will help to support local high schools and college students who may be considering careers in the health professions! Read all the good news here!

Happy “‪‎My ECSU Monday”‬ ‪Viking‬ Nation! Today let's recognize ‪ECSU Alumni‬ Shawn T. Britt, who was awarded this year's Distinguished Social Worker of the Year for the Edgecombe County Department! Ms. Britt has been a social worker for over 19 years; working in various fields including children, teens and currently adults. Read the full article listing her accomplishments here!
