Chapter 27 sneak peak

Susan knew she couldn't just take deep breaths to solve the swirling mass of something bubbling in her chest, but damn, would that ability not be real fucking nice right about now.

She set her jaw tightly and willed her hands to quit shaking, which was about as effective as you'd imagine. She just hoped she wouldn't drop anything while she was resorting the tool drawers; bending over was always a nightmare, between the weight of the animatronic meaning she has to slowly crouch and listen to the screechy complaints of all the joints and motors, it was a whole ordeal.

She didn't need to reorganize anything. She basically had the place all to herself ever since the visits from the BSI technicians petered out. It was her island of solace, a little slice of cake that she could have all to herself. There wasn't a need for this, but sometimes the only way she could stave off a meltdown was indulging in her neuroticism. Even if it was pretty pathetic.

She was beginning to notice how blurred the edges of her vision was, tunnel vision she heard it called, and she couldn't really feel her legs, it all felt fuzzily numb. But that was fine, it was better than pain. It was fine, she was fine.
