REALITY CHECK; I am seeing a marked increase in time lapse videos of self proclaimed "fine portrait airbrush artist craftsman" demonstrating the art of portraiture. Some of these videos by default and OMISSIONS present the illusion that they are starting their work from a blank surface using ONLY their hand Eye coordination or FREE HAND airbrush abilities when drawing out the initial portrait image etc. when in fact they have traced, used a projector or digitally transferred their line work from a photo. This is dishonest and misleading and inevitably comes back to bite you in the ass when you are put on the spot and have to actually demonstrate live your abilities that you don't have. As a portrait artist for the last 40 years working exclusively freehand I can tell you that true portrait art form or skill sets do not use digital transfer techniques plotters, projectors and as seen in the pictures of me working on this airbrushed custom pirate van mural They require ONLY a photo reference and take decades of training to Master the ability to look at an object and in your mind using hand I coordination transfer THE LINE LIKENESS onto a surface without the aid of streamlining tools or programs. It's all about spatial relationship negative and positive space proportion's and the way in which the skill set requires the mind to be trained. The public deserves to know the FULL TRUTH of how you get from point A to point B! Don't pretend or miss lead anyone into thinking you're capable of putting down portrait likeness lines in exact proportion's from some celebrities photo when your actually using A projector plotter or other digitally transferred program or device technique.
