I read a bbc merlin fanfic once where one of the older nobels recognised merlin as balinors son because balinor and uther were friends when they were young it's revealed that uther also recognised who merlin was & lemme tell you that concept has haunted me ever since

How differently would the whole hunting balinor down ep gone if uther had ordered them to kill the older dragonlord outright. So that merlin who uther knows is loyal to arthur inherits the power to stop the dragon

Ok but it's so freaking intriguing to me that the entire merlin fandom decided that Aithusa is a girl, cause I'm pretty sure that they're a boy in canon??? Like when was this decided who is the diva that started this movement cause I wholeheartedly support!!! Like every fic, headcanon, edit or just generally most fanworks have Aithusa as a girl and that's freaking cool
