After finding out and coming to terms with the fact that Shane is unable to have kids, Ilya and him decide to concentrate on their last season with the Centaurs, wanting to look into adoption after both of them will retire.

At New Year's they throw a party for the whole team, everybody pretty drunk by the end of the night. The next morning, Ilya wakes up next to Shane, with Luca sandwiched between them.

In the end, all three of them decide that it was just a one time thing in a drunken haze - ignoring the fact that there had been chemistry between them for quite a while.

Four weeks later Luca calls, sobbing and desolate.

"I'm pregnant."
