Midnite already felt the tense air after showing herself to her injured… ex-friend. She’d heard word that her Edgie had suffered quite a beating and was hurt, though she hadn’t heard any other details besides that. Though despite the fact that they were no longer as close as they were before now due to circumstances, the not-ghost rabbid… wanted to see if she was okay.
To not do something would be… well, it felt wrong.
“Mmh…” Is all that she starts with, first finding it difficult to properly word things at first. “I-I heard them say things, and got worried, and… I wanted to see if you were okay, and… well…”
She was also trying to be quiet in case there was anyone else nearby. Hopefully none of those other annoying ‘heroes’, they’d probably bring out any weapons or mushrooms or anything else that they had at the sight of a spark hunter in their midst.
“Yeah,” grunted the Rabbid, “I ain't looking so hot, am I?” she bore her teeth in a strained grin, trying her best to not appear in quite as poor a state as she felt. However that grin quickly faded, her eyes dulling as they fell to the ground, feeling at a loss for words. By this point, Midnite was the last person she expected to see, although it wasn’t an unpleasant surprise. But, a large portion of Edge was grossly embarrassed that she of all people had to see her in this state.
“Thanks for coming, anyway.” she murmured. She attempted to hide a wince while trying to sit up, her left arm wrapped around her torso. She failed to push through the pain, which proved too intense. She slumped over once again, hissing through her teeth.
“I wonder if it'd be too much to hope that you were here to lend a paw…” she forced out a laugh once she caught her breath, then heaved a sigh.
That statement only added to her embarrassment; in the past, Edge thought that even considering asking for help was a sign of weakness, and she had no idea if Midnite shared that particular mentality. Oh, how different she was from even a few weeks ago... She braced herself for a scoff, or a cold laugh, or perhaps even mocking. But really, she didn’t know what to expect. Even after Midnite declined her offer to join the heroes, she still held onto that hope that one day, the Spark Hunter would change her ways.
She hoped that the gap created by Edge’s change wasn’t too cavernous for them to cross...
But as it stood, she could barely bring herself to look Midnite in the eye.
