harris bit at his pink tinted lips as he observed the way veruca reacted. in a way she was something rather peculiar but it fascinated him as his hands ran over the slight bristle of his chin. with holding a chuckle he tilted his head slightly ‘’you like to ramble it seems?’’ he added more as an observation than a declaration. ‘’sorry that probably came across as rude.’’ he furrows his eye brows in an attempt to show his emotions better but still a smile cracked through flashing his pearly whites. he could see the girl before him liked to talk a lot and it was amusing him very much. ‘’how about we start small then shall we?’’ he adds as his hand reaches down to wrap around the handle of his case.
‘‘my name is harris and i’m not a serial killer.’‘ he states looking directly at the girl with a small smirk begining to pull on the corner of his mouth. ‘‘i like to watch serial killer documentaries though.’‘ he joked nodding his head in the direction of the gate but as his foot stepped out he stumbles; a blush spreading across his cheeks and all the way down his neck. his eyes now glued to the floor in embarrassment. ‘‘you don’t have to pretend to be anyone different around me — okay?’‘ he adds seriously for a few moments. ‘‘this adventure is all about being who you are, so i don’t want us to be anything but ourselves. can we promise each other that? two strangers just agree to be honest?’‘ — he didn’t really know where this was coming from but he knew it all stemmed down to rachel and the fact that obviously didn’t love him enough for who he was on the inside and out. and the sting was once again back although it had disappeared for a few moments.
harris began to walk in the direction of the gate taking a glance at veruca every now and then. he couldn’t believe this girl had agreed to go with him to cancun; and do something weird and wild. it was all new to harris and to be honest it scared him. ‘’gate 406.’’ he states out loud almost giggling at the fact he was doing this. ‘’i hope you’re ready to do something weird…wait? whats your name?’’ he asks spinning to look at her ‘’you know my name but i don’t know yours.’’ he was shocked at himself some what — he was the guy who always had to know everything; he hated not knowing details but this was a weird and different situation. ‘’right before we get on this plane lets tell each other three facts about ourselves? okay?’’

————— ❛ veruca grimaced at his comment. while his comment was certainly ground in reality she still felt a pang in her chest. normally she wasn’t necessarily this talkative with strangers, more so her friends, but something about him unlocked the floodgates of her lips and her words kept bubbling out like a hyperactive river. “i’m not— i’m not usually this talkative,” her fingers idly scratched the back of her neck, “with strangers at least.” despite his assurance that he was in fact not a serial killer, veruca found herself monitoring is movements. with a smirk of pure smugness the brunette quirked a brow. “i just so happen to be a psych major,” it was quite odd that she was voluntarily spitting out information about herself to this not so, but also still kind of stranger, “i’m studying to be a psychological profiler— like on criminal minds.” her demeanor had now changed, her body language much more inviting as she continued to delve further into personal details.
“did you know ted bundy’s mom is actually his older sister? his father had raped his older sister and she got pregnant with ted. it kind of makes you wonder, had he not been a product of incest, would he still wind up following the same path? do you believe in fate?” veruca was a firm believer in fate, though she believed fate could be changed. nothing in life was guaranteed, set in stone. perhaps their meeting had been fate. had she not missed her flight, the two strangers wouldn’t be having this very vacation and harris would find himself one person short of an adventure. “i don’t know about you, harris, but i never pretend to be anybody but myself.” lie. you’re a liar. what a great way to start your adventure, veruca. the brunette scolded her inner voice. who asked you, she thought, an array of expressions contorting her features. shaking her jiminy cricket back into its depths, veruca focused her attention back on the male whose arm was not linked with her own. with a raise and kitting of her brows, veruca chuckled. “i told you my name, harris. i’m hurt you’ve forgotten already.”
veruca plucked her passport from the depths of her purse where she’d angrily chucked it just moments ago. “well, first fact, my name is veruca.” she cocked her head as the statement left her lips for a second time. “and no, my parents did not name me after willy wonka.” as the two now stood in the line flowing from their designated gate she turned to face him again. “i was supposed to be on a plane to israel right now, but you already know the story behind all that.” a finger now tapped against her chin, her features detailing that she was in deep thought. “i’ve got a sailor’s mouth, so prepare yourself.” veruca smiled, her finger wiggling before she pointed it at him. “now, sir, it’s your turn.”
