Love & Other Crimes: The Songs of Lee Hazlewood Sunday 25 October 2015 / Barbican Hall / 19:30 Tickets £20 – 25 plus booking fee Always averse to the spotlight, Lee Hazlewood was the reclusive figure behind songs like These Boots Are Made For Walkin’, Some Velvet Morning, Summer Wine, Houston and Sand, recorded during his heyday by such luminaries as Nancy Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Duane Eddy and Dean Martin, and revisited ever since by the unlikely likes of Beck, Lana Del Rey, The Fall and even Megadeth. Hazlewood’s influence as a singer, songwriter and producer remains far-reaching, with his stature only continuing to grow since his death in 2007. Love & Other Crimes: The Songs Of Lee Hazlewood puts the famously moustachioed, whisky-voiced “old cowboy” and his songs centre stage in this evening of performances curated by Wyndham Wallace – his manager and friend during the last years of his life, and also the author of Lee, Myself & I: Inside The Very Special World Of Lee Hazlewood – and Ed Harcourt, the Mercury Music Prize nominated singer, songwriter, producer, and avowed fan of Hazlewood’s work. The band that includes Harcourt, Adrian Utley (Portishead), Jim Sclavunos (The Bad Seeds), Romeo Stodart (The Magic Numbers) and Tom Herbert (Polar Bear) will be joined by a cast of singers, including Josh T Pearson, Matthew E. White, Jehnny Beth (Savages), Lawrence (Felt), Kathryn Williams and Caitlin Rose, with more names to be announced. Produced by the Barbican Find out more
