I didn't realize the word Tahoe is native American for 'desert with pine trees'. It hasn't rained here in weeks apparently as I have to leave like 100 feet between Raffi when we're hiking otherwise you're constantly breathing in a cloud of fine particulate dust from the trail and then pretty soon your lungs start to get congested. There hasn't been a single cloud in the sky since I've been here (little over a week) which can be good, but too much of anything is bad. There is zero water on this trail except for the lakes you come to once a day or so. Which means you get to carry a lot of extra water around. I've never hoped for rain while hiking but it has got to rain to calm some of this dust down.
Other than both of us being surrounded by a cloud of dust while we're hiking like pig pen from the peanuts, we ran into a pretty snooty couple who really make a lot of racket and are constantly coming over for snacks. I think they must be from LA. Pic below. :)
More from the Saudi Desert tomorrow...
