hi everyone, here are my emergency fills for @femslashgelion; as you may know, i am mod evie. i deeply apologize for the wait, i only had started working on these when we saw no progress in emergency fills being posted. as for the prompts:

for @sailormercury-404 - Asuka and rei go to adopt a cat from a shelter, but they end up adopting four.

for @buggreawlthys - Secretary / personal assistant Rei uses professional facade to hide crush on CEO Asuka, secretly crushing right back.

for @karbinhake - Asurei picnic or lunch date - I want them to eat well and be happy together.

i really hope you enjoy these! again, i am so sorry for the wait, i wish things had gone to plan when we ran the event this year. there is still one more request that needs filling, however, the request is for a fic, and that's a bit outside my area of expertise :[ hopefully, though, we should have that delivered to the recipient soon.

hi everyone, i just wanted to post an updated version of the third drawing in this post. i was looking back on my art from a couple months ago, when i noticed that i was a bit unsatisfied with how i drew rei in this picture. i really wanted to give my best work to the person who received this fill, so i went back and edited the drawing so it looks a bit more cohesive. the original post has been edited to reflect this change, so please reblog this version!!

to @karbinhake: i apologize for not giving my best work sooner, i really hope you enjoy the newer version of the drawing, i'm a lot more satisfied with the result now!

people who ship asuka and rei don't ship them because they actually believe that the narrative is inviting a romantic reading of them or that they have any real chemistry within the show, it's about exploring the fact that the two of them are foils who are continually pitted against each other in every possible way. it's about the fact that they actively hate each other because in the other person they see the parts of themselves they resent the most. it's about considering the ways in which their relationship could be different if they didn't find themselves in the situation they're in, if they had had the space to be normal teenagers. it's about unpacking each of their relationships to their sexuality: it's about reading asuka as a queer girl who lashes out at other girls and instead pursues an adult man and a boy she hates as a way to repress her sexuality because she hates everything about who she truly is, and it's about reading rei as a girl who has never even had the opportunity to know what true reciprocal love and attraction feel like because she's been groomed her entire life and feels a disconnect from her physical body in a way that is very familiar to survivors of sexual abuse, especially queer ones.
