she wondered why he had been so weird when she ended things with him. either he actually liked her and was mad it was over, or he disliked her so much that he was grateful to have her out of his life.
or maybe he just wasn't done getting back at archie.
they tried their best to avoid each other at school the next day, the next few days in fact.
"where's sweet pea? i haven't seen him much," veronica prodded.
"oh we, uh, we broke up," delilah said.
"and you just didn't want to tell us?" she asked. "we should go get mani pedis, to make you feel better," she offered.
"im fine, vee," she gave her friend a tight lipped smile.
"of course as soon as i make up with the serpents, as soon as i start being okay with him around, he breaks up with you. i knew it from the start that he was using you to get back at me delilah," archie rolled his eyes.
"shut up archie," she kicked him. "i broke up with him."
"oh," archie looked down at his hands.
"why would you do that, you two were so cute together," veronica frowned.
"i don't know, everything's been so complicated. it just didn't feel right anymore i guess," she tried to explain.
veronica came over and gave her a hug. delilah saw sweet pea down the hall and he immediately turned away from her and started going the other way.
she wanted to ask him why he had been so weird.
she didn't expect to miss him as much as she did. she had gotten so used to having him around that his absence made her feel incredibly lonely. she hadn't felt like this before him, so why did she feel so sad now? it wasn't real.
"so you're free now, huh?" reggie raised his eyebrows, leaning against the locker next to hers.
"uh, yeah," she said, closing her locker.
"wanna go for a drive?" he offered.
for the first time in a while, delilah hated being alone. so she agreed.
she hopped in the passenger seat of his car and they sped off. he took her to a secluded part of town, down by the river.
"this is sorta my spot," he bragged, touching her upper thigh. she pushed his hand down and looked at him. he leaned in to kiss her and for a second she kissed back. but it didn't feel right.
it didnt feel like it did before. she didn't like him anymore. she got into the fake relationship with sweet pea so she could actually be with reggie. but now that she was with him, all she could think about was sweet pea.
"reggie, im sorry. i just broke up with sweet pea," she said, pulling away.
"so?" he asked.
"so i'm not ready to do this," she explained. he started his car back up.
"you're the same fucking girl you've always been, you know that? a prude and a tease," he scoffed. "i guess now that you've got a taste of a serpent you're not into me. that's it isn't it?"
"and you're the same asshole you've always been! you know, i thought you'd gotten past that when you wore that jacket to stand up for them last week but you're still a dick," she said unbuckling her seatbelt. "let me out."
"we're in the middle of nowhere," he said.
"i don't care! let me out!" she screamed at him. he pulled the car over and she got out. slamming the door behind her. he quickly drove off.
she walked back to school in silence.
"couldn't even wait a week?" sweet pea said from behind her.
"excuse me?" she huffed, turning around.
"toni told me you got in reggie's car today," he explained.
"i don't understand why you're so mad. that's what this was. you get back at archie, i get a chance at getting a real boyfriend," she said.
"yeah but..." he trailed off.
"but what sweet pea?" she whined. "tell me why you're so mad."
"i liked you delilah!" he yelled. "that's why i asked you out. not to get back at archie, it was because i liked you."
delilah stood there, shocked.
"but I didn't think you'd wanna go out with me. I didn't want you thinking I was using you to get back at your brother and not even give me a chance. So I made up that plan to spend time with you," he explained. "I thought that maybe you'd end up liking me too if we spent enough time together."
she stared at him, trying to take in what he had just told her. she was worried he was lying, that he still hated archie for all he had done, but he looked so desperate for her to understand.
"but it obviously didn't work. You're still in love with reggie, that's my bad for trying to change your mind," he started walking off.
"nothing happened," she said, barely loud enough to hear.
"but you still got in the car with him," he said. "and that's what matters."
the next few days, delilah had been feeling especially down. she had ditched her usual outfits of cute sweaters and jeans to baggy sweatshirts and sweatpants. most days she forgot to brush her hair. she looked a mess to say the least.
"girl, are you okay?" veronica asked.
"yeah, i'm fine," delilah said flatly. she really wasn't. she missed sweat pea and she felt horrible about getting in a car with reggie. she felt like she had ruined everything.
"i think breaking up with sweet pea is taking a bigger toll on you than you expected," veronica suggested.
"yeah maybe," delilah sighed, leaning against the wall. "can we talk about it? i need to get something off my chest."
"so it was all fake?" veronica looked at her friend wide eyed.
"i thought so, but he saw me get in reggie's car and he got all mad at me and told me he liked me from the start and just wanted an excuse to be near me without me thinking it was only about getting back at archie," delilah sighed, sinking further into the bed. "which makes sense in a really backwards way."
"do you believe him?" veronica asked.
"i don't know, i don't see why he'd have any reason to lie anymore. him and archie aren't like mad at each other anymore. but i cant tell if he's telling the truth or if i just want him to be telling the truth," she explained. "what do you think?"
"girl, i saw the way he looked at you. there's no faking that. go get your man," veronica said.
late that night, she was still thinking about her conversation with veronica and with sweet pea. she wanted to apologize, she didn't know what to say, but she felt the need to say something, anything.
she dug through her closet and grabbed one of the dresses veronica bought her at shadow lake.
it was short and white, with pink flowers scattered on it. she hoped out her window and made her way to sunnyside trailer park.
about 10 minutes into her walk it started pouring rain. she started running in an attempt to spend as little time in the rain as possible.
but by the time she got to his trailer she was soaked from head to toe, her shoes squishing when she stepped.
she knocked on his door and she heard footsteps inside before it was opened.
"what are you doing here?" he asked.
"i, uh, i never showed you the dresses i got," she said.
he pulled her inside before any more rain got inside.
"you came all the way down here in the pouring rain to show me a dress?" he asked, looking her up and down. her dress had been soaked through and left very little to the imagination. the wet material clung to every curve in her body and it had also become see through. not that it covered much, there was only about an inch of her thighs covered by the dress and he couldn't help but wonder what the back looked like.
"well, it wasn't raining when i left," she smiled. he blinked at her. "but no, that's not why i'm here."
"why then?"
she took a deep breath before kissing him. he wasted no time in kissing her back. he didn't care that she had gotten in reggie's car, in fact he wasn't thinking about it at all.
all he was thinking about was the girl in front of him.
he grabbed her thighs and picked her up off the ground, making sure he never stopped kissing her.
"im so wet," she said, pushing off of him and setting her feet back on the ground. he smirked at her. "no, like my clothes. because it's raining, i don't wanna get you wet," she said, realizing the implication.
"then we better get you out of those wet clothes," he said reaching for the bottom of her dress, and for once she didn't try to stop him. he dragged it off her body and threw it in the sink.
"mmm," he licked his lips. "much better." he looked up and down her body. he had seen her like this before, but this time it was different. this time it was real.
he flipped her around and pressed her against the counter, sucking on her neck. her head felt like it was spinning.
"why'd you get in reggie's car?" he asked, bringing her back to reality.
"do we really have to talk about him right now?" she asked, hanging her head.
"yes," he pulled away from her. she turned back around to face him.
"i thought that was what i wanted," she sighed. "a chance at a relationship with him was why i agreed to do this with you in the first place so it made sense in the moment."
"what happened in the car?" he inquired.
"he kissed me, and i realized i dont like him anymore. i don't want reggie," she said, finally meeting his eyes again.
"what do you want?"
"you," she whispered. that was all it took for him to kiss her again. he picked her up and carried her over to his bed, laying her down.
he pulled his shirt off him and unbuttoned his pants, letting them fall to the floor. he resumed kissing her and crawled on top of her. he slowly moved down, kissing her neck, then her chest, and all the way down her stomach until he reached her panties.
he felt her body tense up and looked at her face.
"hey," he pushed himself up so his face was over hers. "we don't have to do this right now," he kissed her cheek. "just being here with you is enough for me."
"okay," she grabbed the chain hanging from his neck and pulled him closer to her face. "thank you."
"thank you," he whispered back. he continued to kiss her, laying all his weight on her. her skin was freezing and still damp.
"do you want to take a shower?" he offered. "it might warm you up."
delilah nodded and he got off of her and started the shower.
when she emerged from the bathroom in nothing but an oversized t-shirt of his, sweet pea couldn't help but admire her.
"you are so beautiful," he cupped her face with his hands and looked down at her. she blushed.
it felt weird to know he actually meant it. that he had meant it all those times before too.
they laid in his bed together in silence. her head was on his chest and he was rubbing her back.
"so what is this?" he asked.
"i don't know," she whispered. "what do you want it to be?"
"i want you. all of you, to be all mine, all the time," he said.
"i'd like that," she adjusted herself so she could look at him.
"that means no more reggie," he told her.
"got it," she agreed, slightly embarrassed. "anything else?"
"just one thing," he said before kissing her and pulling her fully on top of him. "i wanna see you like this more often."
"mmm deal," she said in between kisses.
they kept kissing until both their jaws were tired. sweet pea couldn't get enough of her. months of pent up wanting had finally come to the surface and he would've done anything to keep her there with him.
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
"delilah, come talk some sense into your boyfriend please," jugheads voice was barely recognizable over the phone. there was shouting all around him.
"what?" delilah said, confused. her night had already been bad enough. the town hall debate was shot up and she watched her father almost die once again.
"he's going crazy, just come to the wyrm, okay. quickly," he begged. her dad was still at the sheriffs station and archie was out doing god knows what, and she was scared to go all the way to the southside. especially because sweet pea wouldn't listen to her anyway, but it would be a bad look not to go.
so she went, trying her best to avoid the riots. she entered the whyte wyrm and immediately saw him, and he did not look happy. she carefully pushed her way through the crowd of serpents to him.
"you shouldnt be here."
"jughead called me, what's happening?" she asked.
he pulled her away from the crowd and explained everything. how fangs was shot, the ghoulies were back, and how he trashed riverdale high.
she stood there in shock.
"is he gonna be okay?" she asked.
"doesn't look like it," he said, clenching his fists.
"hey, calm down i'm sure-" she started.
"calm down!?" he yelled at her, causing a handful of serpents to look at them. "i don't even know why you're here, delilah! you don't care about this shit! you don't get it, you're just getting in the way! just like you and your family always do."
he was mad about fangs and the whole situation, but mainly he was still mad about what she sad said a few night ago. the word 'friend' was stuck in his mind and he felt like screaming, crying, and punching someone all at once every time he thought about it.
she put her head down, realizing it was a mistake to come. she nodded her head and started walking out.
he yelled at her to wait and tried to grab her before she left but she pushed him away.
"just don't," she whispered.
"i'm sorry," he tried to get her to stay. she pushed the doors open and the cold air bit her skin. she walked around aimlessly, not wanting to go home yet. she knew it wasn't safe but she didn't care at that moment.
she didn't care until she was being grabbed from behind, her wrists and ankles being tied together and her mouth gagged with a bandana. she was thrown into a van and she tried her best to scream but she wasn't making much noise.
"god, do you ever shut up?" a lady said when the doors opened.
delilah's throat hurt from trying to scream, her wrists and ankles were tender from trying to get out of the ropes binding her, and her eyes were red from crying.
"penny peabody," she grabbed delilah from the van and threw her on the ground. two more hands grabbed her arms and she was lifted into a chair and tied to it.
the bandana was finally removed from her mouth.
"why are you doing this?" she asked.
"you're just leverage sweetie," she said flatly. "i've heard you've got a serpent boyfriend, i want something from the serpents."
delilah's heart ran cold. there was no way sweet pea would do anything this woman asked to keep her safe.
"why don't i call him up?" penny said, picking up her phone.
"hello loverboy, it's your old gal pal," she said.
"penny," jughead said on the other line.
"i've got something you might want. something a few of you serpents might want actually. get what's his face on the phone, sweet tea or sweet potato i don't know," she joked. jughead got up and ran over to sweet pea.
"okay, he's here, what do you want?" jughead said.
"no, no, no. it's what you want. little girl, cute as a button, your best pals sister," penny smiled.
sweet peas heart stopped. if he hadn't yelled at her, delilah would still be safe. but now she was being held captive.
"come quick before i start carving up her face," penny said. "maybe her tongue, the little bitch won't stop screaming."
"where the hell are you?" sweet pea grabbed the phone from jughead.
"your old hangout, down by the docks, come now, and alone," she finally hung up the phone.
sweet pea immediately headed for the door, and jughead quickly followed after him.
"sweet pea! i don't think she meant you," jughead yelled as sweet pea mounted his bike.
"i don't fucking care jughead. it's my fault penny has her, i'm going to get her," he huffed.
"she'll kill her if you show up!" he yelled. "i have a plan, you just need to trust me."
he pulled his phone back out and dialed a number. after the call, he got on his bike and riding off.
despite what jughead said, he still got on his bike and made his way to the docks.
"'lilah, are you okay?" jughead asked once he got there.
"jug, she's not alone," delilah said.
"surprise," malachai said, holding a baseball bat with nails sticking out of it.
"you said it was just gonna be the two of us," jughead said, taking out his switchblade.
"i never go anywhere without back-up anymore. not after what you did to me," penny explained. "besides, we need to talk, all of us."
"there's nothing to talk about. i'm taking delilah and we're leaving," jughead said.
"not so fast," malachai stepped in front of her. "i've been waiting to see you again for a long time." he flashed his taser in jugheads face.
"get back you hobgoblin," cheryl said, pointing her bow at penny. sweet pea following right behind her.
"I brought back up too," jughead said. "like I said I'm taking Delilah and we're leaving."
penny shrugged and gestured for malachai to untie delilah.
"but remember when all your friends are dead I tried giving you a chance," penny said. delilah got up and went straight to sweet pea. he pulled her into a tight hug, lifting her off the ground.
"you came?" delilah said.
"of course I did," sweet pea said. "did you think I wouldn't?"
"sorta," she said, his face turning from relief to sadness in an instant.
"it's my fault this happened, I wasn't gonna leave you with her," he explained. she looked up at him and his eyes looked red. he looked like he had been crying. it couldn't have been over her though.
"thank you," she whispered. "archie's never gonna forgive you for this by the way."
"i'm so sorry delilah."
she sat in the corner with cheryl while jughead argued with sweet pea and toni about whether the serpents should go to war with the ghoulies when FP walked in.
"that's enough!" he yelled. "I just got a call from the sheriffs office. fangs, uh... He didn't make it. He's gone."
"fangs is dead?" jughead asked.
"we will mourn him, hell yeah we will but first we will honor him. from what I heard it sounds like we need to put it to a vote. All those against going to war with ghoulies," he said and waited for someone to raise their hand. "and all those for giving them hell on the battlefield tomorrow."
the entire room raised their hands to make a snake.
everyone started getting out all sorts of weapons and set them on a pool table.
sweet pea made his way back over to delilah and grabbed her.
"stay here, okay. i don't want you getting hurt. not again, not because of me," he said, his nose inches from hers.
she nodded and almost went to kiss him when her phone rang. archie was calling.
"delilah?!" he said frantically.
"archie," she said, covering her other ear to hear him better.
"where are you? are you okay?" he questioned.
"i'm, yeah, im fine, im at the white wyrm with-" she started.
"okay, okay, i just needed to make sure you were safe. we need to talk, in person, soon," he said.
"why? what happened?" she asked.
"i'll tell you when i see you okay it won't be long. are you with FP?"
"yeah, yeah. why? archie what is going on?" she begged him for answers.
"get him on the phone, tell him it's betty," he instructed. she went to find FP, handing him the phone and explaining.
delilah watched the color drain from his face as he talked to betty. he hung up the phone abruptly and handed it back to delilah.
"lily, where was penny hiding out?" he asked.
"by the docks... why?" she asked, even more confused.
he ran out of the bar and got onto his bike, racing away from the group of people who had followed him.
sweet pea went to get on his bike and delilah tried to go with him.
"stay here," he said firmly.
"alone?" she said, gesturing to everyone else. they were all leaving to follow FP.
he handed her the helmet without another word and she got on the bike. they sat waiting by the docks, wondering where jughead was, when betty and archie arrived.
"where is he? where's jug?" betty said looking around.
archie saw his sister, leaning against sweet pea. he didn't really care what sweet pea had done only a few hours earlier. he was just happy his sister was safe. he went up to her and pulled her into a hug.
"you have no idea what you missed," he said. "thanks," he said, nodding at sweet pea. "for keeping her safe."
"any time," he replied. choosing to omit the fact that she had been kidnapped.
"oh my god," betty gasped. archie turned around to see FP holding jughead in his arms. he looked dead. he was covered in blood and he wasn't moving.
"go home," sweet pea whispered to delilah. "please." he held her face and kissed her. "i'll see you later, 'lilah, i promise."
delilah choked down her tears and nodded. she was not about to let him see her cry over him.
archie took her home while betty and FP took jughead to the hospital. he explained everything on the way home.
betty's dad was the black hood, but it was someone else who shot at their dad at the town hall, and at their house while she was away.
delilah didn't have much to say, she sat there in shock. her neighbor, her best friends dad, was a serial killer, and had tried to kill her dad.
she didn't hear from sweet pea the entire next day. she waiting impatiently by her phone, not wanting to miss his call or text. but he didn't call. the next day however, he did text.
can you come over?
that was it. she ran downstairs, grabbing her keys and made her way to sunnyside trailer park. it was barely there, several trailers had burned down or been trashed. she parked and looked for his trailer. she didn't bother knocking, she just went in.
he was leaning over the sink, bruises littered his face and there was still blood on his hands.
"sweet pea," she said, her voice full of panic.
"it looks a lot worse than it feels," he said as she reached up to touch his face. he winced at her touch. "okay maybe i lied."
she didn't know what to say.
"i'm sorry, i don't know why i called you. you should be with you dad, i heard what happened," he waved her off.
"do you really want me to go?" she asked.
"no," he admitted, grabbing her hand.
"i was really worried about you, i heard what happened and i didn't hear from you and i wasn't sure if you were okay and-" she started.
"hey, i'm okay," he said. "i got lucky."
he saw a tear fall from her eye and it made him weirdly happy.
"crying over me sweetheart?" he teased.
"shut up before i give you another bruise," she wiped it off her face. "can i help? at all? with anything?"
"you know, i haven't been able to shower. could really use some help with that," he smirked.
"okay," she agreed.
"i was kidding, but it's nice to know you want to see me naked," he leaned in closer.
"i'm never offering my help again," she glared at him and he tucked her hair behind her ears.
"i do need your help, though. you took your car right?"
she helped him take some of his clothes out of his trailer and into her car. she wondered what he was doing but she didn't want to ask.
she drove him to the wyrm and helped take the boxes out of her car into the bar. there were dozens of serpents in there, with mattresses and blankets lining the ground.
"a lot of serpents couldn't afford to leave town, so they came here," he explained.
"god, this is horrible," she said.
"they're sending me to seaside," sweet pea said, rubbing chalk on the pool stick.
"what? that's like 2 hours away isn't it?" she said, confused.
"yep, riverdale high is 'overcrowded' according to weatherbee," he scoffed.
"that's crazy, how can he do that," she shook her head.
before he could say anything else, toni ran up to them.
"cheryl just called me, the police are gonna raid this place tonight," she said, grabbing the attention of most of the bar.
"take only what you absolutely need, and what you can carry with you," jughead addressed the crowd. "we need to move quickly and quietly. sheriff minettas forces are all over the south side and they're looking for our blood. If we want our skulls to remain uncracked we have to go undetected."
"go where?" sweet pea asked. "there's nowhere safe."
"we've been offered asylum on the northside," he explained. archie nodded his head at him. delilah gave archie a look, confused.
he pulled her off sweet peas lap and explained that they were all going to their house.
everyone started scattering to grab their belongings and they carefully made their way to the northside, hiding from the police.
archie and sweet pea walked together most of the way, talking. it was weird to her. not only did archie get over his hatred for the southside, but also her boyfriend.
she wondered what it meant for sweet pea and her.
when they got to their house, archie, delilah, and their dad helped everyone get comfortable. there wasn't much space in their house, so most people had to sleep on the floor somewhere.
when she woke up, her dad had already started making breakfast for everyone. she made her way outside and spotted sweet pea, sitting on a lawn chair.
"hey doll," he smiled at her and pulled her onto his lap. she smiled at him and got comfortable.
the next day, archie was going through the halls, passing out leather jackets to everyone he could see. everyone lined up outside the office when principal weatherbee came out.
"what's the meaning of this?" he asked.
"its a show of support sir," archie explained. "for the Southsiders who are being wrongly transferred out of our school. Everyone's ready to walk out."
"any student who walks out... better keep walking 'cause they'll be expelled," he yelled.
"you're a good man, you're not the kind of person who discriminates," archie pushed. "and if you are then expel me. because I don't wanna be a part of that."
"everyone," he paused. "get to class."
delilah couldn't help but feel proud of her brother. he had finally started to be the brother she used to know. he even got reggie to wear a jacket.
"i think i like you in leather," sweet pea whispered in her ear. she giggled and smacked him.
"can you come over after school?" she asked. he nodded with a smile and she walked away.
she heard the knock and quickly went to get the door.
"so why am i here?" he asked, laying on her bed.
"we need to talk," she said, sitting down next to him.
"okay, speak," he said.
"what happens now?" she said, not looking at him. he sat up and got next to her.
"what do you mean?" he asked, worried about what she was going to say next.
"i mean, archie doesn't hate you anymore," she stood up. "and he seems to be okay with me having a boyfriend."
"what are you getting at?"
"this," she gestured between the two of them, "doesn't make sense anymore. we got what we wanted, it's over isn't it?"
"yeah," he got up. "sure, i'll see you around andrews."
he started to head for the door when she stopped him.
"do you think we could still be friends?" she asked.
there was that word again.
"nah, i don't think so," he closed the door in her face.
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
delilah awoke to a light tapping on her window. she assumed it was raining and payed no attention to it, trying to get back to sleep. that was until she heard her name. she shot straight up in bed and looked over at her window. it was dark but the street lights illuminated sweet pea just enough. she walked over to the window and unlocked it, opening it so he could enter.
"what are you doing?" she yawned, shutting the window quietly. "it's late and also freezing out."
"the uh, power went out at my trailer," he explained. "those walls aren't exactly known for their insulation."
she nodded, crawling back into bed. she didn't exactly look her best. she was wearing only a baggy shirt and underwear, retainers in, and she could only assume her hair was a mess.
"i'm sorry, i don't really know why im here. you were just the first person i thought of who didn't live at the trailer park. i should probably just go back," he rambled, reaching for the window. "sorry i wasted your time."
"i mean, you're already here. would be a bigger waste of my time if you woke me up just to leave," she said, patting the spot next to her and lifting the sheets up for him.
he kicked his shoes off and climbed in next to her. he could feel the heat radiating off her. he lifted up the bottom of her shirt, exposing her abdomen. before she could say anything, he placed his freezing hands on her bare skin. she gasped in response and pulled away from his touch, only for her back to meet the wall.
"that's payback," he whispered, flipping his hands over so the backs of them were now pressed into her stomach.
"is that what i deserve?" she said tiredly.
he brushed a piece of hair that had fallen in front of her face before humming a yes. he let his arms wrap around her waist and his hands roamed her back.
on a deeper level, he felt she deserved much better than him. like he'd never be enough for a girl like her.
he was an ex drug smuggler and a gang member with no real family.
she was a cheerleader and the sweetest, most innocent girl he'd ever met. she had a loving family and everyone adored her.
as he looked at her, he wanted to stay there, in her bed next to her forever. no interruptions, just peace and quiet with the girl laying next to him.
he almost confessed everything right there.
but he didn't want whatever it was they had going on to end.
it was selfish, really. if she didn't want him, she'd be free to date whoever she liked. probably reggie. and that crushed him, just the thought of any man thinking they could have her made him mad.
she wouldn't acknowledge him anymore, no more kisses on the cheek in the halls, no playful slaps when he said something snarky, no more delilah.
as long as she thought everything was fake, she was loyal to him. at least physically.
but still, he would do anything to make her his. really, truly his.
he pulled her in closer to him and his hands traveled further down her body. his fingers gliding over the soft fabric of her underwear, he let them rest where her ass met her thighs.
when she didn't remove his hands, he moved them closer together, the tips of his fingers dangerously close to her pussy. he kissed her softly and she kissed back. he squeezed her ass hard and delilah gasped.
sweet pea kissed down her neck and sucked on her soft skin. she could feel his teeth sinking into her as he bit at her while he sucked.
his hands moved back up under her shirt and landed on her breasts. he could feel her heart beating and he squeezed her tits.
"you're all worked up, aren't you?" he teased, his breath warm against her ear. delilah couldn't say anything, what was there to say anyway?
he pulled the covers off of them and crawled on top of her. he kissed all the way down her stomach and parted her legs as he reached her underwear, placing them over his shoulders. he continued placing kisses on her until he reached her hole. he licked her through the thin fabric and he heard her whimper.
"do you want this?" he pushed himself back up to her face, folding her in half and her legs were still over his shoulders.
she nodded.
"say it," he demanded.
"sweet pea," she breathed out. "please."
"please what? be a good girl and tell me what you want," his voice was low.
"please fuck me," she whined.
delilah shot straight up in her bed, chest heaving.
what the fuck was that?
did she really just have a sex dream about sweet pea?
she ran her hands through her hair, pulling at it slightly.
"'lilah?" a voice called from behind her. he was in her bed.
a thought ran through her mind, was it a dream? or did she really ask him to fuck her?
no. she wouldn't do that, right?
her head whipped around, face showing obvious signs of fear. not to mention her body was shaking.
"what's wrong?" he asked, placing his hand on her back.
"uh, bad dream," she lied. there was no way in hell she was about to admit the scene her mind had just conjured up.
"do you wanna talk about it?" he offered.
"no, no. i'm fine, just go back to sleep," she said, laying back down. her back was facing him but his arm was trapped under her.
"you can always talk to me," he whispered. "i'm here for you delilah."
he pulled her in closer to his body, his face buried in her hair. he stroked the side of her head gently and delilah was starting to feel dizzy.
after that dream, she was more than a little horny and the way he was holding her was not helping. she hated how gentle he was with her and how close he always got to her.
sure, the bed wasn't all that big. but he didn't have to have his arm wrapped around her waist. nor did he have to pet her like she was a damn dog.
she adjusted herself so that she was on her stomach, her head turned away from him still.
he removed his hand from her head and started scratching her back.
god this was almost worse. she squeezed her eyes shut and tried to push all the thoughts about him out of her mind.
it's not real she told herself over and over again.
"can i ask you something?" he whispered. his breath against her skin made the hair on the back of her neck stand up.
"of course," she said, trying her hardest to keep her voice from trembling. she had no idea what his question could possibly be, but her mind was in the gutter.
"do you remember the first time you saw me?" he asked. "was it when we first spoke?"
"no," she turned her head to look his direction. "it was pickens day, when you went up on stage in protest. why?"
"i told you about when i first saw you, and how i felt, but you've never told me," he said.
"i thought it was admirable, the way you stood up to hiram lodge, the blossoms, and the mayor," she said. "it must've taken a lot of courage to do that."
"did you know who i was?" he inquired. "that i was the one who had fought archie?"
"i did," she told him.
"and you still thought highly of me?"
"well, it takes a lot less courage to fight my brother and the bulldogs than to stand up to the entire town, but he deserved it and someone was bound to do it eventually," she shrugged. "so, yes. and i still do."
he smiled at her last comment.
"any other thoughts on me?" he asked. the one thing he didn't like about her was how hard she was to figure out, she was so reserved with her feelings. but now seemed like the time she might open up.
"i like how driven you are," she started. "you know what you want, you know what's right, and you do something about it. you are who you are and you're not ashamed of it."
he wasn't sure what he wanted to hear, but he wasn't mad about what she was saying.
"you're kind and smart. you have a bright future, i can tell. you're a good man, i like having you around."
she was so close to saying she likes him, and it hurt him a little that she didn't say it.
"i think, under different circumstances, we could've been good friends," she sighed.
friends???
FRIENDS?
here he was, hoping she'd confess that she liked him, and all she saw him as was a friend. his heart felt like it had been stabbed a thousand times.
"yeah me too," he said, trying to hide the hurt in his voice.
"but i do think you're cute," she admitted, barely loud enough for him to hear. she reached her hand up to his face and placed it on his cheek, rubbing her thumb against his skin. he turned his head and kissed her palm.
when sweet pea woke up again, the sun was shining through the slats in her window shades. he sat up and looked at delilah. he was memorizing her.
the way her lips were parted slightly. how calm she looked in her sleep. the strip of sunlight hitting her cheek just right.
a rainbow lit up the wall behind her. he chose to ignore the fact that it was from a sticker on her window.
to him, it was because she was magical.
as the sun hit her eyes, she groaned and woke back up. she planted her face into the pillow and groaned again, clearly not happy to be awake.
"good morning to you too," he joked.
"morning," she mumbled, not bothering to lift her head.
she felt the bed move and she could tell he had gotten off. reluctantly, she turned her head to look at him. his jacket was back on and he was reaching for his shoes.
"what're you doing?" she pushed herself up.
"i figure your dad wouldn't want to walk in and see me in your bed," he explained.
"i doubt he'd care, veronica's here practically every hour with arch. i think he knows what goes on in there," she said, her face showing obvious signs of disgust.
"it's fine, i should be getting back anyway. see if my trailers got power again," he said, opening up the window.
"okay, well if you want to come back, feel free to use the front door," she moved to stand next to him.
"okay," he pushed to window open and stepped out.
every part of him wanted to stay with her. but the rational part of him knew she was only offering for him to stay to be nice, not because she actually wanted him to stay.
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
"please," she tugged at his jacket. "just one night."
"i don't do musicals," he argued.
"im begging. kev isn't gonna let me skip it and i don't want to go alone," she pouted her lips. "think about fangs."
"okay fine," he huffed.
"yay, thank you. i'll see you tonight," she skipped off.
they sat in the auditorium, both zoned out until cheryl started yelling. looking at the stage, midge was pinned to the wall with knives through her body and blood smeared all over it.
"i am back from the dead
all those who escaped me before will die
B.H."
sweet pea looked over at delilah who looked like she was about to throw up. everyone started piling out of the room but delilah felt frozen in place. she could feel a hand tugging on her arm but she couldn't get out of her seat.
most of the room had been emptied by the time sweet pea could get her up. he basically had to carry her out but eventually he got her outside.
"where's my dad?" she choked out.
"delilah," he whispered. "he's okay."
"you saw what it said, my dad could be next," she tried to pry his hands off of her. "he could already be dead."
"delilah stop," he gripped her wrists tighter. "the black hood is dead."
at this point she was hyperventilating and he didn't know what to do.
"we'll find him," he promised. tears were rolling down her face and he squeezed her hands.
hé didn't want to leave her there but he didn't think she could walk. he was frantically looking around trying to find anyone who could help as she continued to freak out.
he pulled her into a hug and kept talking to her, trying to calm her down. after what felt like forever she heard her name.
"delilah," her dad yelled, running over to her. sweet pea pulled away from her and let mr andrews take over.
he stood off to the side and mr andrew's held his crying daughter. she was mumbling something into his shoulder but neither of them could understand what she was saying.
eventually she calmed down and pulled away from her dad. at the same time archie ran up to them, still in costume.
"dad," he pulled his dad into a hug. "i was so worried."
sweet pea sat next to delilah and wiped the tears off her face. he kissed her forehead wrapped his arm around her shoulder. the way she looked up at him made his heart feel tight.
he hated seeing her scared. the more time he spent with her, the stronger his feelings for her got. he wanted to protect her.
but she knew that wasn't what she wanted. she always brought up that everything they had together was fake, and he often caught her looking at reggie longingly.
it was stupid of him to think, even for a moment, that she might've wanted him how he wanted her.
"it's okay," he whispered. delilah nodded, unable to say anything. her friend was dead, murdered by the black hood. but her dad was alive. she didn't know how to feel.
delilah's dad motioned for sweet pea to talk to him.
"i appreciate all you've done for my daughter. i know archie hasn't made it easy for you, but i would like it if you stuck around," mr andrews said.
"i will, mr andrews," sweet pea confirmed.
"thank you. i don't want delilah being alone. even if the black hood isn't back, another girl has been killed. i'd feel safer with her around you."
"i understand, i'll make sure she stays safe," sweet pea told him. mr andrews patted him on the back and went back to his children.
delilah suffered through the next few days. there was tons of speculation about whether it was the actual black hood or someone else. she basically refused to leave her room. she refused to talk to anyone.
sweet pea had come by three times and every time she pulled away from him and they sat in silence. he tried to get her to talk but she would just look at him with sad eyes. and he wasn't sure what to do about it. she wasn't crying. in fact she hadn't shed a tear since the day of the musical. she just felt numb.
the morning of the funeral, delilah wasn't sure she could do it. she didn't want to face the reality that her friend was actually gone.
she watched midges casket being lowered into the ground and it hit her that she'd never see her again. seeing midges mom sobbing was what sent her over the edge.
she pushed through the crowd of people leaving and started running to her car. sweet pea saw her running and chased after her. she was struggling to unlock her car when she saw him.
"delilah."
that was all it took for her to start sobbing. he ran around the front of her car and grabbed her. her body went limp and basically dragged them both to the ground.
she sat on the snowy ground crying into his arms. he rubbed her back and let her. he didn't try to talk her down. he didn't even care that he was wet and cold.
she looked up at him with red eyes.
"take me home?" she asked. it was the first time in days she had spoken.
"of course," he grabbed the keys from her hands and helped her up. she got in the passenger seat and they drove to her house in silence.
he walked her inside and up to her room.
"do you want, uh, do you want something to change into?" she sniffled, ruffling through her drawers.
"yeah, that'd be nice," he said, shocked that she was asking for him to stay. she tossed him a sweatshirt and sweatpants and grabbed some out for herself.
"whose are these?" he asked, knowing they wouldn't fit her.
"reggie's," she said. "can you unhook my dress?"
he unzipped it and she kicked it to the side. she took off the tights she had on and changed her clothes. she turned around to see he hadn't even began undressing.
"why do you have these?" he asked.
"he gave them to me, i just never returned them. i was gonna burn them on the next blue moon," she joked.
hé was glad she was feeling better but he was also wondering under what circumstances did he give her the clothes.
he took off his jacket and shirt and put the sweater on. he unbuttoned his pants and let them fall to the floor. delilah couldn't help but look, and sweet pea saw. she turned around and gave him his privacy.
"you can look," he whispered in her ear. he pressed into her back and she could feel it. it sent shivers down her spine.
she turned around and stuck her freezing hands under his shirt. he hissed and backed away from her. she smiled at him.
"i missed that smile," he said.
"just get in the bed," she smacked his shoulder.
she crawled into her bed and he joined her. he held her hands in his and let her stick her head into his neck. she kept readjusting until she was almost fully on top of him. her lips were on his neck. on his tattoo more specifically.
delilah was worried she was letting herself get too comfortable with him. she tried telling herself under any other circumstances she wouldn't be here with him, that she was just sad and didn't want to be alone right now. but she also couldn't deny how much she enjoyed being this close to him.
he let himself enjoy the moment until he came back to his senses. he wasn't there because she liked him. he was there because he was someone she could cry on. they had been in this exact situation when they came back from shadow lake. and he doubted it would be the last time they were here.
silver lining was that she trusted him enough to do that.
but in the end she was using him.
over the next few days, delilah had started to feel better. she missed her friend dearly and couldn't go ten minutes without hearing something about it, but she was feeling better.
putting a few things back into her locker, she felt something on her shoulders. turned her head to see sweet pea putting his flannel over her.
"i'm not cold," she said, starting to take it off.
"you shouldn't be wearing that," he pushed it back on her.
"and why would that be?"
"because you have a boyfriend," he snapped.
"do i though," she whispered. he was becoming increasingly annoyed with her.
"everyone thinks you do," he said. "what kind of boyfriend would i be if i let you walk around like this?" he gestured at her outfit.
"the not controlling kind who trusts his girlfriend?" she smiled.
"i almost just beat some guys ass for talking about how hot you look," he said.
"aww is someone jealous," she teased.
"just put the damn shirt on," he huffed.
"fine, but i don't see what the big deal is," she said, letting him button the shirt up.
"your tits are practically out, i'm surprised you haven't gotten dress coded yet."
"that's because nobody at this school cares," she explained.
"well, whatever, either way i don't want people objectifying you," he said. "i doubt that's what you want," she shrugged at his comment. "and it's not what i want. real boyfriend or not, i don't like hearing other people talk about you like that."
"are you aware i look ridiculous?" she said, looking down at her new outfit. the sleeves went past her hands and the bottom was at her mid thigh, not to mention he had buttoned it up to the very top.
he rolled the sleeves up for her and she tucked the bottom into her bra.
"no," he pulled the shirt back down.
"yes," she put it back up, "nobody is getting turned on by my midriff."
"you don't know that," he said.
"yes i do. i'll wear the shirt for today if it makes you more comfortable, fine, but don't make this a regular thing," she rolled her eyes.
"well don't make wearing clothes like that a regular thing and it won't be," he shot back.
"you're being weird," she closed her locker.
"delilah, you're a very pretty girl, nobody in this school is going to deny that. what's weird is if you wear revealing clothes and showing yourself off like you don't have a boyfriend. this whole thing doesn't work if you don't act like you have a boyfriend," he argued.
she huffed and walked away, heading to class, more than annoyed.
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
"hey, what've you been up to?" sweet pea pulled her aside at lunch.
"not much, why?" she said, taking a bite.
"you haven't been answering my texts," he waved his phone in her face.
"sorry, it's been a busy weekend. i had a sleepover with cheryl and her grandma fell down the stairs in the middle of the night, and my moms back in town. plus veronica and archie are making me help them with junior class president, so i haven't been on my phone much," she said in between bites of food.
"i thought maybe you'd been avoiding me," he said.
"why would i be avoiding you?" she asked.
"just everything that happened at the lake. we never really got to talk about what we did after the hot tub so i was thinking-"
"no, nope. not avoiding you," she smiled, clearly not wanting to talk about it still. there was an awkward silence for a few moments as she tried to avoid looking at him.
truth be told, she was hoping they would both pretend it never happened. she still wasn't sure what came over her that night.
"your mom though? that sounds fun, why's she back?" he asked.
"my dad has some legal issues with the lodges, i don't really get it. but she's a lawyer so she's helping him," she explained. "anyway, enough about me. what've you been doing?"
"jughead has a plan to save southside high from being destroyed so we've been planning for it, i guess," he shrugged.
"what kind of plan?"
"we're gonna chain ourselves to the school," he explained.
"for how long?"
"as long as we need to," he said.
"it's freezing," she blinked at him.
"guess i'll need something to keep me warm," he smiled.
"when is this happening?"
"tonight," he told her.
"i'll be there," she leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
"well, well, well. the cavalry's finally here," jughead said as archie arrived on his bike. "guess that means we've got hiram's attention."
"are you nuts?" archie scoffed. "chaining yourself to this place? getting my sister involved? they're gonna tear this place down in two days, dude."
"not unless hiram wants the blood of 8 young serpents on his hands," jughead said. "we're not going anywhere. go and tell your boss we said that."
archie rolled his eyes and walked over to delilah.
"come on," he grabbed her arm. "you're coming home."
"no," she ripped her arm away.
"delilah you're going to freeze out here," he yelled. "this isn't your battle to fight. now come on."
"she made her choice, dude," sweet pea chimed in.
"shut the hell up. and shame on you for roping her into this. i was starting to think you might actually be decent after that trip to shadow lake, but not anymore," he spat.
"as if i care what you think of me," sweet pea replied.
"whatever," archie spat before getting on his bike and riding off.
"you don't have to stay the whole night," sweet pea told her.
"well i can't exactly go home now so, i guess i will be," she smiled and sat down against the wall. he quickly took a seat next to her.
wrapped up in the blankets she had brought and sweet peas arms, she fell asleep much fast than she thought she would and was woken up by betty shaking her awake.
"archie told me you were here, and that you wouldn't listen to him. i have your bag if you want to go school today," betty said, holding out her bag.
delilah glanced at sweet pea who gestured for her to go. she grabbed her bag and stood up.
"i'll be back as soon as i can, text me if archie shows back up," she kissed his cheek and caught up with betty.
"you're coming to veronica and josie's performance, right?" betty asked once they got to riverdale high.
"of course, i wouldn't miss it," she smiled and then made her way to class.
by the time the day was over, delilah was more than ready to go home but she knew she still had to go support veronica and betty. she slowly made her way to the student lounge and found a spot against the wall.
veronica and josie were singing when a paper was handed to her. confused, delilah looked down to see a picture of veronica with a devils tail and horns labeled "did you know?"
she scanned over the paper and read all sorts of things veronica had done for her parents. she saw veronica running after betty and delilah walked up to ethel and josie.
"can i have a few more of those?"
delilah ran all the way to southside high with the papers in her jacket.
"miss me?" sweet pea joked.
"duh," delilah managed to get out between gasps of air. "but also, i thought you might want to see these."
jughead took the paper from her and read the text front and center. "she knew they were turning south side high into a prison."
"does betty know?" jughead asked.
"she does now," delilah told him. "look, i have to go meet my mom, but i'll be back as soon as i can."
sweet pea nodded and gestured for her to go. she took off running again and sweet pea couldn't get his attention off of her.
"i was hoping to see jughead while i was in town," her mom remarked as they sat down for dinner.
"he's still at southside high, mom, chained up like a lunatic. with her boyfriend," archie scoffed. delilah rolled her eyes.
"arch, you may not believe in what he's fighting for," their dad started.
"i'm not sure he's fighting for anything, dad," archie said. "i think he's mostly fighting against mr lodge. like a lot of people in this town who are afraid."
"afraid?" delilah snapped. "afraid of a criminal buying half the land in our town to turn it into a prison? shocking."
"afraid of having a vision, of seeing what has to be done and doing it," he yelled back at her.
"what has to be done? why do you think there has to be a prison in riverdale?" she argued.
"because our dad was shot in a diner and a father shot his son, delilah" he spat.
"there are hundred off prisons in the world, archie. i personally don't want to live in a town with those kinds of criminals that close to me or my children. hiram lodge just wants to make more money," she slammed her fork down and stood up. "i also don't want to live in a place where the best hope is working at a prison."
she stormed upstairs and into her room. she could still hear her mom arguing with archie downstairs but she didn't care to listen. she was starting to grab a sweatshirt to put on so she could run back to southside high when her door opened.
her mom sat down on her bed and patted for delilah to sit down next to her.
"you've changed so much," she remarked. "the delilah i remember would've never yelled at archie like that. i'm so proud of you," she pulled her in for a hug. "it really made me realize how much i miss out on in chicago. like your first boyfriend."
delilah froze when she said that. she didn't need her family getting any closer to sweet pea.
"i was thinking maybe he could come over for dinner before i leave," her mom suggested.
"well, um, like archie said he's at southside high chained to it," delilah said awkwardly. "and it's really not that serious yet so i'm not sure."
"delilah, im only gonna be in town for a few days and im not sure when i'll be back. i want to at least meet him," her mom explained.
"i'll talk to him," she said.
"thank you," she kissed delilah's forehead. "goodnight sweetie."
"goodnight mom," she said.
delilah waited an hour for her parents to settle down before sneaking out her window. she ran back to southside high and saw sweet pea leaned against the wall, talking with his friends.
"lily!" a voice called from her left side. she didn't need to turn to know who it was. it was jugheads dad, he was the only person who ever called her that. "what are doing here?"
"just needed some fresh air," she walked closer to him.
"you shouldn't be out here at night," he told her. "it's not safe."
"you're here," she cocked her head.
"i'm an adult," he told her. "you better get back home andrews."
"wouldn't it be more unsafe for me to go back home than to stay here?"
"sit down," he huffed and waved her off.
delilah skipped over to the boys chained up and stood in front of sweet pea who felt a smile forming on his face.
"what are you doing here?" he asked.
"can't a girl visit her boyfriend?" she smiled back. "plus archie's being-"
"archie," he finished.
"yep," she rolled her eyes.
"talk to me," he pulled her into a hug.
"he's just still defending hiram lodges plan for the stupid prison," she huffed and leaned against him.
he ran his fingers through her hair and put his head on top of hers. he walked her closer to the school and sat down with her. she was between his legs and her head was on his chest.
under almost any other circumstance, delilah would've found it romantic. but she knew it wasn't.
she woke up in a fright the next morning. she was still m on top of sweet pea and she began scrambling. it woke him up and he sleepily grabbed her by her shoulders and tried to look at her but it was too dark to really see her.
"what?" he whispered.
"i have to get back home before my mom realizes i'm not there," she explained.
"it's still early, you'll be fine," he tried to reason with her because it couldn't be any later than 4.
"i just need to get home," she said.
"stay," he whispered.
"why?"
it was then that he realized what he had just said. he didn't have a reason for her to stay there. it wasn't like anyone was awake, and if they were they weren't going to tell archie she left him.
they continued to stare at each other as their eyes adjusted to the darkness.
"nevermind, go home," he said. she got up without another word and ran back home.
the very next morning she returned to southside high with betty to see a group had already formed. she pushed her way to the front to see sweet pea who acknowledged her only with a small nod. she smiled at him before turning back around to find betty.
the crowd quickly grew despite it being very early in the morning and they began chanting to save southside high.
the chants began to die down and delilah turned around to see archie with a pair of bolt cutters, the wrestling team following closely behind him.
she stepped in front of him.
"don't do this," she pleaded, he kept walking. she grabbed his arm but he pushed her off him.
"jugheads your best friend, i know you don't want to do this," she walked next to him. he continued to ignore her and pushed past the police barricades.
fp stepped up to archie when he got close enough. delilah couldn't hear what was being said but she knew it wasn't good. jughead pushed his father aside and started talking to archie.
he held his wrists up and after a few seconds archie cut the chains wrapped around them.
one by one delilah watched as the wrestling team cut the chains and shove the boys away from the school.
even after mostly everyone had left, delilah stayed, sitting on the sidewalk. betty took a seat next to her.
"i'm just so disappointed," delilah sighed.
"that it didn't work? because i think it definitely did help," betty said.
"no, in archie," she frowned. "jughead was archie's best friend. for years. he never would've done this but now that hiram lodge is in town he's acting all high and mighty. i'm not happy about it."
"i know what you're saying, i just hope he'll come around eventually," betty said. "but in the meantime, i think i know two boys who could use our company."
betty stood up and held her hands out for delilah.
"i don't think that's a good idea, i think sweet pea might want to be alone," she said frantically.
"nonsense, he'd definitely want to. now come on," she urged.
"i don't even know where he lives," she shrugged.
"we'll ask jughead when we get to the trailer park, i'm sure he knows," betty smiled. delilah grabbed betty's hands and stood up. they walked to sunnyside trailer park together and knocked on jugheads trailer.
"i was not expecting you," he looked confused at delilah.
"i wanted to apologize for archie, i know it doesn't mean much coming from me and not him but i still feel bad," delilah said and tried to walk away.
"oh!" betty grabbed her wrist. "she also wanted to know which trailer her boyfriend lives in."
"lemme walk you there, it's not too far. just confusing," jughead offered. they weaved through trailers and after a few minutes stopped in front of sweet peas. "there you are," jug patted her back and walked away.
delilah debated whether she should actually go in or not but decided she would. she slowly walked up to the door and knocked. the door opened almost immediately and he looked at her weirdly.
"why are you here?" he whispered, looking around.
"betty thought i should come see you, and she was coming to see jughead, and she wouldn't take no for an answer, and-" she said but he pulled her inside before she could say anything else.
"it's fine," he said. delilah looked around his trailer, it was small and it only had one bed.
"i know it's not what you're used to, but it's what i've got," he shrugged. delilah nodded and turned her attention back to him.
"it's great," she reassured him. "so how are you feeling?" she asked after an awkward silence.
"im fine, my shoulders just hurt from those chains," he said, walking back to his bed.
"i've been told i'm pretty good at giving massages," she shrugged. he chuckled at her before he felt her hands starting to take his shirt off.
"you don't have to," he grabbed her wrists but she kept moving his shirt up. he gave in and helped her take his shirt off.
"hop up," she patted his bed and he slowly climbed on to his bed. she hopped up after him and straddled his lower back.
she started massaging his shoulders, trying her best to ignore the way he was groaning underneath her. at some point she figured he must've passed out because the trailer was filled with silence. she was zoned out massaging his back when suddenly his hands gripped her thighs and she was snapped out of it.
"your turn," he said groggily, turning his neck as far as he could to look at her.
"no no no, i don't need it," she protested. he turned his hips to roll over and she fell off of him.
"i see the way you sit in class, you do," he said, crawling on top of her and beginning to unbutton her shirt. she grabbed his wrists in protest.
"it's okay, it's just me," he said, continuing unbuttoning. she turned her head to the side, for some reason she couldn't bring herself to look at him. he reached his hand up and grabbed her jaw, forcing her to look at him. "delilah."
"sweet pea," she said, not sure what to say.
"relax," he said quietly, "just look at me." he let go of her face and for some reason she listened. he finished unbuttoning her shirt, never breaking eye contact. he grabbed her by her hips and placed her face down in front of him.
delilah had never felt more vulnerable with sweet pea straddling her thighs. she felt his hands unclasping her bra and her hands shot back to stop him.
"what're you doing?" she asked.
"it's in the way. you're facing down, it's not like i'll see anything," he explained. delilah sighed and let him continue. he slid the straps off her arms and pulled it out from under her, tossing it with the rest of their clothes.
he ran his hands up her sides, trying to push down all the thoughts in his head. delilah felt like she couldn't breathe, nobody had ever seen this much of her and here she was letting a boy she wasn't even really dating touch every inch of her back. she tried telling herself it was just a massage, that it wasn't anything inappropriate, but it wasn't easing her at all.
as he started working, delilah found her eyes growing heavy.
she woke up to a loud bang at the door. before she could even process it, the door was opened and she heard a voice.
"dude, i've been texting you-" fangs started before looking at the two in bed.
neither of them had a shirt on, and though the sheets covered their lower half, fangs assumed they didn't have pants on either. delilah was face down, sweet pea had both his arms wrapped around her waist laying next to her.
delilah began to push herself up before realizing she had nothing on and quickly turned away from fangs, only to be pressed against sweet peas chest, his arms still wrapped around her waist.
"is this a bad time?" fangs joked. sweet pea nodded and he slowly left the trailer.
delilah's cheeks were flushed red from embarrassment. she was still pressed tight against sweet pea, too scared to pull away from him.
"where's my bra?" she whispered in his ear. he looked around the bed for a second before answering .
"the floor," he told her. she sighed and buried her head further into him.
"can you get it?"
"it'd be more fun watching you get it," he teased.
"please," she pulled away from him and looked into his eyes.
he tried his hardest not to let his eyes wander.
"okay," he whispered. he removed his hands from her and climbed out of bed, grabbing her bra and sweater from the ground and placing it next to her.
once she was fully dressed again, she turned around to face him again.
"i should, um, be getting home," she stammered, still slightly flustered.
"can i walk you home?" he asked.
"no, it's okay. i'll be fine," she said heading for the door. "i'll see you at school."
she was out the door before he could say anything else.
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
things had been going exceptionally well for delilah. archie seemed to have started to back off, though he still shot sweet pea dirty looks whenever possible. but he hadn't said anything to delilah explicitly so she was calling that a win.
but he was still hiram lodges personal assistant. and still a dick.
"fair warning, our shadow lake chalet is rustic, but it has breathtaking views of the mountains and the water," veronica said. delilah and sweet pea walked into the student lounge as they were talking.
"ive been looking for you," veronica pointed at them. "we're all heading up to my lake house this weekend for a little couples getaway, and i would love it if you two came."
delilah stood frozen and stared at veronica.
"ronnie," archie saïd. "i don't think that's a good idea."
"i beg to differ, archie. i want to see more of these two in action. you guys are always off hiding, and as romantic as that is, i know nothing about sweet pea. and neither does archie," she pointed out. "this weekend will be perfect to get to know you guys!"
"veronica," archie started again.
"no, archie, i will not hear it. delilah is a young woman now and she is allowed a boyfriend, is that understood?" she said sternly, causing him to groan and throw his head back. "so? what do you two say?"
delilah looked up at sweet pea who had the same, worried expression.
"i don't know, Vee," delilah said. "it sounds wonderful, but," she paused and realized she couldn't think of a way to explain why she couldn't go.
she obviously couldn't say it was because she didn't want her brother and friends to find out she's in a fake relationship.
veronica noticed the look on her face and became skeptical.
"but what, 'lilah?" she asked, very accusatory.
"but nothing," sweet pea butted in. "we'll be there."
"fabulous!" veronica cheered. they continued to talk about their weekend plans until the bell rang.
"what do you think you're doing," she said through her teeth as soon as they were out of earshot.
"come on, it'll be the perfect chance to rub this in your brothers face," he nudged her.
"okay, okay," she laughed. "but it's gonna be tough, we can't slip up, even for a second."
"got it," he said. "you're a full time girlfriend now."
"ha ha, very funny," she rolled her eyes. "i'm serious. i don't trust my brother not to spy on us now that he's been presented with the opportunity."
"understood," he responded.
"so i guess just be at my house with all your stuff on friday afternoon," she said. "i'll see you later," she kissed him on the cheek and scurried off to class.
as promised, she heard a knock on the door and ran downstairs to open the door. sweet pea stood there awkwardly with a duffel bag.
"come in," she smiled at him and he leaned over to kiss her. she walked up the stairs and he followed close behind.
"this is exactly how i imagined your room would look," he remarked.
"thanks?" she said, kind of confused. he took a seat on her bed and watched her finish packing.
"delilah, have you seen my-" he poked his head into her room. "oh, he's here."
"yes, archie, he is here," she rolled her eyes. "and no, i haven't seen whatever you're looking for," she closed the door on him and shook her head.
"i'll help you with the bags," andre said.
"no, no, we've got it. archie?" veronica responded quickly. she had made it very clear that there would be no chaperones. "TTFN, andre. we'll see you sunday night at 7, and not a second earlier."
"betty, 'lilah. wait till you see the inside," she said as she grabbed the girls by the arm and dragged them inside.
the outside was beautiful but the inside was something else entirely. it was beautiful and meticulously decorated.
"welcome to what i humbly like to call, 'lodge lodge.'"
"wait, where'd jughead go?" delilah asked, realizing he wasn't in the room. they all went outside and saw him on the porch.
"jug? what happened? are you okay?" betty asked.
"that was cheryl. she said you and archie kissed in front of her house," he explained. delilah and sweet pea stood in the back, confused. betty and archie looked at each other and said nothing.
delilah slowly walked back inside and sweet pea followed. veronica followed them in, leaving archie, betty, and jughead to talk, hopefully.
"i'll show you two where you'll be staying," she said. delilah went to reach for her bag but he grabbed it for her.
"did you know?" delilah asked.
"he told me, yes," veronica said, leading the way. "anyway, here's your room," she said, opening the door. "have fun," she winked.
the two walked in and he set their stuff down.
"this is ridiculous," sweet pea said. "it's crazy people have this much money."
"yeah," delilah sighed, laying down on the bed. "this is gonna be a long weekend."
he pulled her up to a sitting position and kneeled in front of her.
"i sure hope so," he said, kissing her. delilah found the comment odd to pair with a kiss but she pushed it aside and kissed him back.
they sat on the bed in silence until they heard someone coming up the stairs. their heads shot to look at each other and delilah quickly straddled him and started kissing him. his hands found their way under her shirt and he gripped her waist.
the door opened and delilah turned to look.
"i told you guys you can't hide the entire weekend," veronica said. delilah flopped down onto him and groaned. "i made margaritas."
delilah shot back up and got off sweet pea.
"we'll be right down," she smiled. veronica closed the door and delilah looked at him. "let's go," she held her hand out.
"five minutes," he said, messing her hair up, then unbuttoned her shirt slightly.
"i'd like to propose a toast," jughead said. "to the lodges, to their hospitality. and to putting the past behind us."
"cheers," veronica said, and they all tapped their glasses. delilah and sweet pea were cuddled up on their own couch under a blanket. delilah could feel archie staring at them, and she enjoyed it.
"so, your parents come up here a lot these days?" jughead asked.
"not as much as they'd like. daddy's such a workaholic, you know," veronica said.
"on the SoDale project?" he asked, veronica nodded. "how's that going? is that heating up? still getting intense?" he said in one breath. delilah didn't miss the look betty was giving him.
"it is. luckily, archie's dad is doing such a superb job of keeping everything on schedule," veronica smiled.
"vee, tell us more about your fancy neighbors," betty changed the subject.
"yeah, are they in the same business as your dad?" jughead switched it right back.
"jughead. i mean it," betty whispered.
"guys, what's up?" archie asked.
"betty, im just making idle conversation," jughead said. "sorry, please continue."
"it's a hodgepodge, really. some are in entertainment, some are in business, some are in real estate," veronica explained.
"you know what's weird?" jughead started. "as we were driving up here, i noticed none of the houses have mailboxes or numbers or anything on them. why is that"
"shadow lake is a pretty private community."
"like they're hiding something?" he shot forward in his seat.
"jughead, seriously this isn't 20 questions," betty said, clearly annoyed.
"this is really awkward," delilah whispered. "i'm gonna go get another margarita," she excused herself as the other two couples talked in whispers.
she came back with a new glass and veronica looked like she had a great idea.
"fear you not though, i have just the antidote," she said. "step one. clothes off, swimsuits on."
they all stood up and headed to their rooms. delilah dug through her bag and pulled out her swimsuit while sweet pea did the same.
she started to pull her top off before remembering someone else was in the room, and he was looking right at her. she quickly turned around and began undressing. she was struggling with tying the top of her bikini when she felt his hands on her back. he brushed her hair over her shoulders and off her back and tied it for her.
"thanks," she turned her head in an attempt to look at him. he put his hands on her waist and pulled her back into him.
"you look beautiful," he whispered. she almost took it to heart before remembering the situation.
"we should probably go down now," delilah said.
"or we could wait," he countered.
"and do what?" she turned around to face him, suddenly realizing how close they were.
"we're alone, we can do whatever we want," he said.
"i want another margarita," she smiled and ran back downstairs. he slowly followed her down.
"i think you should slow down, haven't you had like 4?"
"5," she admitted sheepishly. he grabbed the glass from her and set it back down.
"maybe we should just go outside," he said. she nodded and followed him out back. there was a giant pool and delilah spotted the 4 of them in what she assumed was a hot tub.
"what'd we miss?" delilah asked, climbing in.
"jughead and veronica kissed," archie said bitterly.
"oh," delilah frowned, confused.
"to level the playing field," jughead added.
"ah," delilah said.
"lets talk about you two," betty offered.
"i agree," veronica smiled.
"how'd you two meet?" betty asked.
"oh, uh. just at school," delilah said.
"girl, details please?" veronica pushed.
"the day southside high got switched to riverdale high, i saw her. some kid dropped all his books and she was the only one who stopped to help him. i thought she was just beautiful," he brushed hair out of her eyes as she looked at him with wide eyes. "so i asked around about her. i heard about, uh, well, you know, archie. but i knew i couldn't not try, so i asked her out. it took some convincing, but she said yes."
"that's so cute," betty cooed.
"not really," archie rolled his eyes and veronica elbowed him.
they all continued to talk until they decided it was getting late and they should head back inside.
"you guys go ahead, we're gonna stay back for a bit," delilah smiled, gripping sweet peas wrist. as soon as they were far enough away, she turned to look at him.
"that story. was it true?" she asked.
"what story?"
"veronica asked how we met, you said you saw me help some kid who dropped his books, was that true?" she asked. she remembered helping someone. the halls were extra crowded due to the influx of students and some freshman was struggling to pick up his stuff.
"yes, i saw you that day," he admitted. "and yes i thought you were beautiful," he moved a piece of hair from her face. "and yes, i asked around about you. that's how i knew what archie tells everyone."
"why'd you ask about me?" she pushed.
"i wanted to see what kind of girl you were."
"and what did you find out?"
"that you're a cheerleader. and smart and kind and shy," he said. "pretty much the opposite of your brother."
she smiled at him and rested her head on his shoulder. she held back what she really wanted to ask him.
did he actually like her?
she didn't ask because she didn't know if she'd like his response.
"archie's staring us down, just by the way," he whispered. delilah practically deflated in annoyance.
he reached over and grabbed her legs, pulling her into his lap. with one hand still on her thigh and the other on the back of her neck, he pulled her into a kiss. she reached her hands up to hold his face.
time seemed to slow down as they kissed. maybe it was just because they knew archie was watching or maybe it was because they had gotten more comfortable with each other but it was the first time they were actually making out.
and delilah really liked it. she was pretty sure archie had walked away at that point but she didn't really want to stop.
sweet pea pulled back to take a breath and she rested her forehead against his. he was breathing heavily and she was praying he couldn't tell how fast her heart was beating.
he kissed her lightly a few times before standing up, still holding her up against him. he continued kissing her as he carried her out of the hot tub. sweet pea set her down to put towels on themselves but he quickly picked her back up, bridal style.
"i can walk," she protested.
"nonsense," he brushed her off.
"if you drop me, i'll kill you," she threatened.
"i'd never drop you," he promised.
when they got to the door, veronica was there to open it for them.
"that was steamy," she said, raising her eyebrows suggestively. "you two be safe now," she winked.
archie sat on the couch, glaring at them, jaw clenched, obviously trying to hold his tongue.
he finally set her back down in the room and closed the door behind them.
"he did not look happy," delilah giggled.
"what?" sweet pea asked.
"archie," she explained.
"oh, right," he said. "do you wanna shower first?"
"no, that's okay, i'll be a while so you go ahead."
he nodded and headed to the bathroom. she waited patiently for him to be done and when the door finally opened, she practically had to force her jaw to stay shut.
his hair was wet and all he had on was a towel hanging low around his waist. she probably let her eyes linger a bit too long.
"showers open," he said. "i- uh, i forgot my clothes out here," he explained.
she couldn't even form any words and just went straight into the bathroom with her stuff. her entire shower, she couldn't get that image of sweet pea out of her mind. she had seen him in less literally 20 minutes earlier, so why was that so much different?
when she left the bathroom, sweet pea was already in bed, scrolling on his phone, still shirtless.
she turned the light off and crawled into bed next to him.
"tonight was fun," she said, trying to break the silence.
"i had a good time," he agreed.
"you're actually a good kisser," she whispered, almost embarrassed to say it.
"yeah?"
"i liked it," she admitted. she could feel him moving closer to her.
"we can do it again," he offered. she was silent for a second.
"it's just a kiss, right?" she tried to justify.
"just a kiss," he reassured her, but also himself.
"delilah," veronica barged into her room. "get up, we're going into town."
"what?" delilah sat up and rubbed her eyes.
"i'll explain later, i just need girl time right now," she said.
delilah looked at sweet pea who had also just been woken up.
"i know this weekend was supposed to be a romantic getaway, but you can leave your beau for a couple hours to be with betty and me, can't you?" veronica pleaded.
"with archie in the house, no. i don't think i can," she joked, but veronica was having none of it.
"i'll be fine," he whispered. "go."
"okay, Vee. i'll be down in 20," delilah said.
"make it 10," she said, slamming the door. delilah groaned and crawled out of bed and into to the bathroom. she groggily brushed her teeth and hair, still trying to force herself awake.
"text me if archie's being, well archie," she said as she left the room. he nodded and she headed down the stairs.
"so what sort of plans do you have in mind?" she asked veronica.
"just some light shopping, and girl talk of course."
"sounds fun," she said before stuffing her face full of food.
"i thought getting out was an urgent matter, im not gonna waste too much time eating," delilah said after swallowing.
"when's betty gonna be down?" delilah asked in between bites.
"oh, she's not coming. she was up pretty late with jughead last night and she says she doesn't feel well," veronica explained.
"well then, let's go," delilah said.
"i'm excited, i dont remember the last time it was just us," veronica said. "not since you and sweet pea started dating."
"it's only been a month, vee, calm down," delilah jokingly rolled her eyes.
"well, we'll get to talking after some retail therapy. i know the perfect place to go first," veronica smiled.
"okay, enough flirting here," delilah cut into veronica's conversation with the cashier. "you had a fight with archie, you didn't break up with him."
"i'm cassidy," the cashier said. veronica smiled at him and delilah had to basically drag her out of the store.
they quickly found a cafe to sit and eat at.
"so, how are things with you and sweet pea?" veronica asked.
"good."
"good? that's all i'm gonna get? you two are always sneaking off. i never get to see you two together," she whined.
"we just like to keep things private, and away from archie," she lied. "i do want to thank you. i think you're the only person who's been able to talk some sort of sense into him about leaving me alone."
"of course, dee. but you still haven't answered my question. how are things? and i want details," veronica pushed.
"i said they're good. i mean we really like each other and he's my first ever actual boyfriend so it's not like i have anything to compare it to," delilah said.
"do you like him more than reggie?"
"yeah, i do. sweet peas actually my boyfriend and it meant a lot to me that he was willing to endure archie's wrath. reggie never was," she shrugged.
"that's what betty and i were saying, and jughead agrees.," veronica smiled. "i think you two are so cute. you deserve someone who's willing to fight for you."
"i agree."
"and what about last night?" veronica asked.
"what about it?"
"well you two got pretty close in the hot tub last night, did that continue into the bedroom?" she stirred her hot chocolate.
"oh, uh no," she shook her head.
"girl, your lips are swollen and i see the hickey on your neck," veronica pointed out. delilah's hand shot up to cover her neck and she looked down, clearly embarrassed. "have you two slept together?"
"it's only been like a month, and it'd be my first so i just want to be sure," delilah explained.
"what aren't you sure of?" she questioned.
"if it'll last, you know. i need to know it'll last before i do something like that."
"do you worry he's using you to get back at archie?" she asked.
delilah paused for a second before answering.
"no, him and archie may not get along, but i don't think he's cruel."
"okay, fair enough," veronica backed off. "so what, was last night just some heavy petting or...?"
delilah thought back to the night before. the fact that they had made out for no reason other than they wanted to, and that she really enjoyed his hands on her. she worried she was starting to let herself believe it was real. she needed to take a few steps back.
delilah pursed her lips and nodded. veronica sensed she didn't want to talk about it and stood up.
"okay, well, i'm not letting you go back empty handed. there's this really cute boutique on the way back, you have to get something there," veronica smiled.
"if you insist," delilah begrudgingly got up.
they walked through the streets of shadow lake together window shopping until they got to the boutique.
"would this not look perfect on her?" veronica said to one of the shopkeepers as she pointed to delilah. veronica must've picked up over 20 dresses for her to try on and forced her into a dressing room with them.
delilah tried on every single dress and stepped out to show veronica, usually resulting in a gasp and clapping, saying she has to get it.
after almost an hour of trying dresses on, delilah settled on 4 she would actually wear and came out to pay for them. she reached into her purse but veronica slapped her arm away.
"my treat," veronica said, pulling out her own wallet.
"veronica, i can't let you pay for this," she said.
"think of it as compensation for all archie's put you through," she said, swiping her card.
"you don't have to apologize for archie's behavior, vee," delilah frowned as veronica handed her the bag.
"i know, but you deserve this," she said and walked out of the shop. they then made their way back up to veronica's cabin.
"he's alive," delilah said, seeing sweet pea sitting at a table with jughead and archie. "i was worried."
"don't worry, 'lilah. i made sure archie stayed away," jughead said.
"well thank you jughead," she smiled and sat on the armrest of sweet peas chair.
"what'd you get?" he asked peaking inside the bag.
"just some dresses," she smiled.
"you'll have to show me," he said.
"of course," she winked and slid off the armrest onto his lap. "tonight," she kissed his cheek. jughead phone rang and he went outside to hear better. delilah looked out the window to see him angrily staring back inside. she dragged sweet pea outside with the rest of the group.
"first your dad buys the drive in, now he owns sunnyside trailer park," jughead said. "as i suspected, he's gobbling up the south side, piece by piece."
"wait, slow down,"archie jumped in. "mr lodge is the one evicting people from the trailer park?"
"no, technically, he cleared us of all our debts and revoked the evictions," jughead clarified.
"you were gonna get evicted?" delilah turned around to look at sweet pea.
"we'll talk about it later," he told her.
"does that mean you get to keep your trailer?" archie asked.
"yes, so why are you so outraged?" veronica said.
"because it's a tactic. it's a smokescreen, PR 101. he's trying to buy my silence again," jughead argued.
"good lord, jughead. how much of a narcissist are you?" veronica yelled.
"jughead, you wrote an article attacking mr lodge and demanding he make amends. it's sounds like that's what he's trying to do," archie fought back.
jughead scoffed and turned to sweet pea.
"they have a point," he said. "all i'm thinking about is how i get to keep my trailer, jughead. let's just take this as a win."
"i agree, let's go celebrate," archie suggested. jughead scoffed but still headed back inside.
"i know just what to do," veronica said cheerfully. "how about monopoly and margaritas."
while veronica went to get the board and make the margaritas, delilah dragged sweet pea away.
"why didn't you tell me?" she asked.
"i didn't think you'd care," he admitted.
"of course id care, sweet pea," she grabbed his hands. "why wouldn't i?"
"because you're not actually my girlfriend," he whispered.
"yeah, i may not be, but i thought we were still at least friends," she said.
"i didnt want to bother you, its not like you could do anything about it anyway," he shrugged.
"you couldve stay at my house," she said. "if it came to that."
"well it didn't, so this conversation doesn't even matter," he walked away and she followed quickly behind. veronica was finishing the margaritas and betty was done setting up the board.
"everything okay?" archie asked betty, who had just gotten off the phone with her mom.
"no, actually. my mom is freaking out because hiram lodge just bought the riverdale register," betty explained.
everyone turned to look at veronica who looked confused.
betty and jughead argued with archie and veronica about her fathers business while delilah and sweet pea watched.
as they were yelling at each other they heard glass shattering.
"where did that come from?" jughead asked.
"who else knows we're here?" archie added.
"why did you say it like that?" delilah asked, standing up.
"you rich summer folks never learn," two men in a black ski mask entered the room. sweet pea stepped in front of delilah and held his arm out. "you just keep walking around town, flashing more cash than we see in a year."
"we're gonna take what we want, and then we're gonna go," another man said. "if you guys behave yourselves, nobody gets their skulls knocked in."
delilah gripped the back of sweet peas shirt in terror.
"fine, take what you want. we won't give you any trouble," archie said.
"where's your purse?" the man asked.
"um, it's...," veronica paused. "in my bedroom."
"let's go to the bedroom."
"no," archie said. "no way are you going with her up there alone. i'll go," archie offered.
"archie, it's fine," veronica reassured him. "i'll be fine. we'll be right back. everybody just stay calm."
veronica came back only a few minutes later.
"can we go already?" one of the boys asked.
"you got the cash?" the other one asked.
"yeah. i got the cash," the man who took veronica upstairs said.
"then you got what you wanted," archie said.
"not everything, not yet," he said. "why don't you all get down on your knees?"
"come on man. let's not do this," another one argued.
"shut up. i said, on your knees. hands behind your backs. do it!" he yelled.
they all slowly got on their knees as he took the baseball bat from one of the other boys.
"it's a nice cabin. i'm sorry we have to make such a mess in it."
he paused for a second.
"not that one though," he pointed the bat at delilah, who was barely visible behind sweet pea. "i want to keep her."
"absolutely not," sweet pea started to stand up, archie stood up in protest too. "you lay a hand on her and-" he was cut off
"the hell is that?" the man asked.
"that would be the security company calling to check on the silent alarm i hit in my bedroom," veronica smirked. "i'd say you hillbillies have about 30 seconds to run for it before this place is swarming with guards who will shoot first and ask questions never."
"screw you, rich bitch," the guy said before running after his friends who had already fled.
archie jumped up and ran after them, resulting in everyone yelling at him not to. delilah got up to run after him but she didn't make it very far before a hand grabbed her wrist. she wiggled out of it quickly and continued sprinting after archie. however, she felt her knees scrape the rocks below her and her hands followed soon after.
sweet pea grabbed her hands and pulled her up. she brushed her bloody knees off, then her hands and looked into the woods.
"what were you thinking?" he said, grabbing paper towels from the kitchen.
"i was thinking about archie," delilah said, laying down on the couch.
"so you ran after him into the woods with the guys who just threatened to kill us? the guys who just tried to do god knows what to you?" he asked, wiping the blood off her knees.
"i'm sorry, but i almost lost my dad i wasn't about to lose him," she said, fighting back tears both from her knees and her father.
"it's okay, i just didn't want you getting hurt," he threw the bloody paper towels into the trash and grabbed the bottle of antibacterial.
"this is gonna sting," he braced her. he quickly sprayed both her knees and she winced in pain. he dried her skin off and placed bandages on them. he sat on the floor next to her and looked at her. he wiped the tears off her face and laid his head next to hers.
"so, what do you think of him?" veronica asked archie who was at the top of the stairs, watching his sister.
"i still don't approve," archie said. "but he's not all that bad."
the drive back was quiet and delilah stayed nestled in sweet peas arms. veronica had asked andre to drop them at pops but delilah wanted to go straight home.
"i'll see you monday," he said.
"wait, just come in," she dragged him in.
"your dad won't mind?" he asked.
"he's not home," delilah explained. he followed her upstairs to her bedroom and sat down next to her on the bed.
"are you okay?" he asked.
"i'm fine. i mean i'm still alive so," she shrugged.
"did it remind you of," he paused.
"when my dad was shot?" she finished for him. "a little bit, yeah."
"do you want me to stay here?" he whispered after a long moment of silence.
he could barely see her nod in the dark, but she did. she kicked her shoes off and crawled into her bed, sweet pea laying down next to her.
it was a twin bed and they barely fit in it together. she wanted to stay awake until archie got back but she felt her eyelids growing heavier every second and fell asleep within minutes.
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
delilah rushed to school the next morning, trying her hardest to avoid her brother. she felt a little bad about what she had said to him the night before but she also knew it was true.
ever since veronica's dad had come to town, archie had been spending a lot more time with the lodges. she was grateful for any amount of time without him, but she also knew the lodges weren't good people. she could deal with veronica, but her father was a whole different story.
"i think they're onto us," sweet pea whispered.
"what makes you say that?" delilah raised her eyebrow.
"jughead just asked me what my intentions with you are," he explained.
"what'd you say?"
"i told him i liked you, i just wanted to see where it would go," he said.
"okay," she paused. "hopefully he bought it. but no doubt my brother put him up to it," she leaned against her locker.
"i agree. but if jughead's also watching out for us we have to be more careful," sweet pea said.
"i guess so," she sighed. "i gotta get to class."
she started walking and sweet pea quickly caught up to her, putting an arm around her shoulders.
"what are you doing?" she asked quietly.
"keeping up the act, never know who your brother is recruiting," he said. they walked in silence the rest of the way to delilah's class.
"i'll see you later," she said, breaking out of his grasp and heading into the room. she took her seat and was quickly taken out of her thoughts by two hands slamming on her desk.
"who was that?" reggie asked, leaning over her desk.
"sweet pea," she told him, trying not to look at him.
"no shit, i know that," the bell rang and he took the seat in front of her and turned around. "why were you with him?"
"we're-" she started.
"going out? because last time i checked you told me archie would snap my neck if i tried to make a move on you," he interrupted.
"i guess he's not scared of my brother," she rolled her eyes at him.
"he should be because we beat his ass last time he tried us," reggie scoffed.
"really? because i heard you made dilton stab himself to get out of the fight," she said.
"that's not what happened," he said. he started to say something else but what interrupted by the teacher telling him to turn around and pay attention.
Delilah endured 1st period the best she could and made bee line for the door but a hand grabbed her before she could get very far. reggie pulled her off to the side and put both his arms out so she couldn't move.
"i thought we had something," he said.
"im sorry, but he actually had the balls to ask me out. you had your chance," she shrugged, trying not to show she was actually upset. she had had a crush on reggie for years.
"he's a serpent, he's not right for you," he said. "i on the other hand," he reached a hand up to touch her face, but she slapped it away.
"you couldn't possibly know what's right for me," she spat.
"i know it's not a filthy serpent," he said. not a second later he was ripped back.
"what the fuck did you just say?" sweet pea asked. "and why are you so close to my girlfriend?"
"you heard me," reggie stepped closer to sweet pea. "and hey, if you want my sloppy seconds, i'll gladly beat your ass again to show you who's boss," he said, flexing his muscles.
"bring it," sweet pea taunted. but before anything happened he was being dragged away from reggie.
"if you want to start a fight, be my guest. but not at school, i don't want either of you getting suspended or expelled," she said.
"what was he talking about?" he asked, chasing after her.
"what?"
"'sloppy seconds,'" he repeated.
"im not talking to you about this," she snapped.
"why not?"
"because, you're not-," she practically yelled before realizing what she was saying. "you're not actually my boyfriend," she whispered.
"doesn't matter, if we're gonna make this believable we have to actually know each other. at least a little," he told her.
"fine, but not now. i have to go to class."
unsurprisingly, he was waiting at her locker when school ended. they didn't actually say anything to each other as they walked out.
when they reached sweetwater river, he finally spoke.
"so what's the story?" he prodded.
"he was the first boy i ever liked. and i liked him for a really long time, like years," she admitted. "and he was my first kiss, and probably would've been my first boyfriend if it wasn't for archie."
"sloppy seconds usually means-" he started.
"i didn't sleep with him, if that's what you're asking. i'm sure he only said that to piss you off," she interrupted. "your turn," she said, turning to look at him.
"my turn?" he raised his eyebrows.
"you said we need to know each other better for this to be believable. your turn."
"well what do you wanna know?" he leaned back.
"why'd you join the serpents?" she asked.
"i didn't have any family, and the serpents promised to protect me. they're my family now," he explained. "deep down, do you hate the serpents, just like your brother?"
"no. i don't agree with everything they do, sure. but if what you just said it true, i can tolerate them. it's a community, and i can't find a reason to hate on that," she explained. "have you ever had a girlfriend?"
"no, not a lot of girl serpents my age," he said. "what's your biggest fear?"
"spiders, or the dark, or dying alone," she rambled. "do you think i'm pretty?" she blurted before realizing what she said.
"yes," he responded before she could backtrack. she looked back at him and smiled.
"thank you," she blushed.
"do you think i'm pretty?" he teased.
"the prettiest," she brushed hair off his face and chuckled.
"where's your mom?" he asked.
"chicago," she told him.
they continued back and forth until it got dark and he walked her back home. it wasn't too far of a walk but they kept talking the entire time.
"is your brother gonna jump me if i walk you to the door?" he asked as they stood in front of her house.
"probably, but my dad will if you don't so take your pick," she joked, expecting him to walk away. but he walked her all the way up to the door and tried to open the door for her.
however, before he could, the door opened from the inside.
"i was worried about you," her dad said before giving a confused glance to the boy next to her.
"im sweet pea, mr andrew's," he reached his hand out to shake.
"you're her..." he trailed off.
"boyfriend," sweet pea told him. "sorry it's late, we lost track of time. it won't happen again i promise."
"well, thank you for getting her home safely, sweet pea," her dad said. "you get back safely too," he smiled.
delilah smiled at sweet pea, trying to hide how badly she was shaking. he kissed her on the cheek and gestured for her to go inside.
"have a good night mr andrew's. i'll see you later," he looked at delilah and she nodded.
"i don't want you out that late ever again, not with what's happening in this town," he said as he closed the door.
"i know, dad. i'm really sorry, i promise i'll be home before dark from now on."
"thank you. so, how come you didn't tell me you had a boyfriend?" he asked.
"we only just started going out," she explained.
"just be safe, please," he told her.
"i don't see how that'll happen," archie came down the stairs and delilah rolled her eyes.
"and why do you say that?" she asked.
"because he's a serpent. dad, tell her she has to end it," archie whined.
"is that true?" he asked her.
"yes, but-" she started.
"archie go back upstairs," he said. with a huff, archie stormed back up the steps.
"he's not a bad person," delilah tried to defend.
"honey, i don't care," he told her, placing his hands on her shoulders. "as long as he treats you right and you're happy," he smiled at her. "now get to bed."
delilah went upstairs and plopped down on her bed. she found herself smiling as she thought about her conversation from earlier.
she shot straight up in her bed and quickly started getting ready for bed to distract herself.
the last thing she needed was to be falling for her fake boyfriend.
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
Delilah hung onto him for dear life, terrified as they raced through the streets of riverdale. when they finally arrived at pops, delilah didn't think she had it in her to step off the bike. he pried her hands off him and helped her off. with her whole body trembling in fear she couldn't get the helmet strap undone. he once again helped her and took it off her head.
"i'm never doing that again," she said, flattening out her hair. he fixed a piece of her hair and gestured for her to follow him.
they walked through the doors and delilah surveyed the room for archie. he wasn't there.
"i'm gonna go wash my hands," she said excused herself. when she came back out, she came face to face with archie, veronica, jughead, and betty.
"hey girl," veronica said. "we were just about to sit down, do you wanna join us?"
"oh, no thanks V. i'm here with someone," delilah explained. "thank you for the offer though."
"o la la, does delilah andrews finally have a boy?" veronica asked.
"no," archie shot in. "no she does not."
"just between us girls," she whispered to veronica and betty. "kinda."
the girls all squealed at her admission.
"i don't wanna move to fast, and put labels on it, but i really like him," she lied through her teeth.
"well we won't keep you any longer," betty winked at her and started walking toward a booth.
"who?" archie demanded.
"none of your business," she walked away from him and towards sweet pea who was seated at the counter. when she took the seat next to him, archie sprinted across the room to them.
he ripped sweet pea out of his seat and they started yelling.
"what the fuck are you doing?" archie said.
"i'm here on a date," sweet pea responded.
"get away from my sister," archie shoved him and sweet pea shoved him back.
"you're being ridiculous," delilah said, stepping in front of sweet pea right as archie tried to push him again. she lost her balance and fell back into sweet pea hard. he caught her and rested his hand on her hip.
"don't touch her," archie said.
"i think i'll do what i want."
archie lunged at sweet pea but jughead held him back.
"sit down," veronica demanded. "leave her alone, archie."
"this isn't over," archie threatened before walking back to a booth.
sweet pea turned her around and leaned her back against the counter.
"not so bad, right?" he whispered. she shrugged lightly and he pulled her in for a hug. "is he watching?"
"mhm," delilah hummed into his chest. after a few seconds he pulled away slightly, their hips still pressed together. he looked at her carefully before raising his hand to her chin and gently kissing her.
"why him?" archie sat at his booth, fuming as he watched his sister.
"he's not without charm, archiekins," veronica said. "why are you so opposed to her dating anyway?"
"every boy in this town is an asshole," archie said.
"you live in this town," betty pointed out.
"i know."
"you're mainly upset because he's a serpent," jughead scoffed.
"yeah, jug. and he tried to hurt me. he showed up at my house and tried to fight me," archie complained. "why does he like her anyway? he hates northsiders."
"well, for starters, delilah is drop dead gorgeous. like even i've had thoughts about her," veronica admitted, resulting in a disgusted look from archie. "but, also, she's kind. she doesn't judge the southsiders, at least not outwardly."
"i think it's sweet," betty said.
"how? how is that sweet?" archie asked, slamming his fork down.
"he's willing to fight for her. he must know she doesn't date because you don't let her. just be happy for her, arch," betty explained.
"it just doesn't feel right," archie shook his head. "i can't shake the feeling he's using her to get back at me."
"not all serpents are the horrible people you make them out to be," jughead chimed in.
"can you blame me for thinking that?" archie practically yelled.
"i guess not. i'll talk to him," jughead told him.
"thanks jug."
archie watched as they left the diner and the only thing stopping him from following them was veronica sitting on the outside. but when he saw sweet pea hand the helmet to her he practically shoved her out and raced outside, his friends not far behind.
"absolutely not," he yelled. "she is not getting on that."
"calm down," veronica said.
"no, ronnie. a date is one thing but she can't get on that. she'll get hurt," he said. "i bet that's what you want though."
"excuse me," sweet pea stepped close to him.
"you heard me. i bet you're just itching to hurt her to get back at me."
"there's something wrong with you," sweet pea bit back.
"come on," she pulled sweet pea back. "he's not worth it."
"let's go," he mounted his bike and delilah followed him.
archie watched in anger as they rode away. he stormed back into pops, slammed money down on the table, and started running back home. when he got home, he went straight to delilah's room, but she wasn't there. he ran back down the stairs and found his dad in the kitchen.
"has 'lilah come back home?"
"no, i don't remember seeing her come in," fred responded. archie went back upstairs and called delilah. she didn't respond.
"god, he's annoying," delilah whined, putting her phone back in her pocket.
"i know," sweet pea said. they were sat on the edge of sweet water river, completely alone. "why doesn't he let you date?"
"i'm not really sure," delilah admitted. "something about all the boys being awful, i think. but i don't believe that."
"that's weird."
"i think he's trying to protect me, i mean he wouldn't ever leave my side growing up. but ever since he started dating veronica, he's been leaving me alone more, thank god."
"it still doesn't make sense though. you'd think he'd want you to have a boyfriend so he could protect you," sweet pea pointed out.
"i gave up on trying to understand my brothers mind a long time ago," she put a hand on his shoulder and sighed.
they sat there in silence, watching the river flow, for what felt like eternity before delilah spoke.
"it's getting late," she whispered. "it's dark and i'm cold."
"take my jacket," he took off his serpent jacket and handed it to her. "i'm sure your brother would love that."
"take me home," she said, snatching the jacket from him and pulling it over herself. she was practically drowning in it.
hé drove her back home and walked her up to her door. it wasn't that late but delilah didn't want to risk waking anyone up. she slowly crept up the stairs and entered her room. she found archie sitting on her bed.
"why him?"
"he asked me out," delilah said, crossing her arms.
"and you thought i would be okay with this?"
"archie, i have had enough with you thinking you can control my life. he likes me, and i like him. i'm not gonna let you ruin yet another relationship for me, i just won't," she was trying to be stern with him, but not be too loud. "now get out of my room," she pointed to the door.
"im not done with this," he said, heading for the door.
"yes, you are, archie. seriously leave me alone, you've done enough to hurt this family, dont add this to the list of things you'll be apologizing for for the rest of your life."
A/N- i've never written before and idk if anyone will even see this but pls be nice. i've also not really watched riverdale in many years so i'm trying to piece things together but it won't follow the plot very well.
-archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
"andrews," an unfamiliar voice called out. delilah hummed in response, not bothering to look who it was and instead continued piling notebooks out of her locker. "i hear your brother doesn't like you dating, he goes around and tells everyone not to go near you, 'or else'" the boy said.
"can i help you with something or...?" delilah said, closing her locker and looking at the boy.
"sweet pea," he extended his hand out to her. she readjusted the stack of book in her hands to shake his. "i've got a proposition for you," he stated.
"look, you wouldn't be the first boy to think he can get with me without my brother finding out," she started walking and followed her. "it never ends well."
"i think i can handle him," he stated. she turned to look at him and realized he had a point. he was incredibly tall and muscular. "but anyway that's not what i'm suggesting," he pulled her into an alcove. "i hate your brother, he thinks he's the shit and he keeps messing with southsiders."
"why are you telling me this?" she cut him off.
"i think we can help each other out," he said, resulting in a raised eyebrow from the girl. "you hate him for controlling you, i just hate him."
"okay, i don't hate my brother," she said.
"but you're fed up with him telling everyone not to go out with you?" he asked, and she sighed and murmured in agreement. "i'm suggesting a little revenge."
"why me?" she asked, he was getting annoyed at how she kept interrupting him.
"i'm probably the person your brother hates most, at least at this school. and i hate your brother so much, being with his sister would just kill him," he explained.
"'with' as in..." she said.
"dating," he clarified.
"let me get this straight, you want me to fake date you so you can get back at my brother for being a dick and i can get back at him for controlling my love life?"
"yep, pretty much," he shrugged.
"i'm still confused," she admitted. "if we're not actually together, you're not really getting back at him."
"if he believes we're together, then it's like i took something from him. he tries so hard to keep you away from guys, and his number one enemy being the one you defy him for. it'll make him go crazy."
"it'll make things worse, he's only gonna harass you more," delilah pointed out.
"once again, i can deal with him," he said. "just think about it," he walked away, leaving her to think.
she walked home alone and really thought about his proposal. she was fully on board with showing archie he couldn't control her, but she was scared of what he would do to sweet pea. it was all she thought about that entire night and she decided she just needed to sleep on it.
the entire next day she kept trying to find a time to talk to him but he was always with someone.
she was about to take it as a sign but as she was leaving school, she turned the corner and ran right into him. he grabbed her arm to stabilize her and raised his eyebrows at her.
"so?" he asked.
"i'm down," she told him. he smirked at her and they started walking. he led her to the back of the school where his bike was. he handed her his helmet and she hesitated before taking it.
"well it would be bad manners not to drive my girl home," he said, noticing her confused expression.
"okay hold up," she said as he mounted the bike. "i think we need to have a conversation about this."
"what is there to talk about?"
"uh, i don't know. how long are we gonna do this for?" she sat down on the ledge in front of him.
"until we decide we've had enough," he said.
"okay... how is this... gonna work?" she asked and he pondered for a moment.
"well, we should make sure archie sees us together, obviously. but we gotta keep this act up around other people too," he pulled his leg off his bike and stepped closer to her, putting his hands on her knees and spreading them so he could stand between them.
Sweet pea took the moment of silence to take a good look at her. he had seen her around school, of course, but it was always from a distance. her hair was usually messy, due to the loose curls in it.
but looking at her up close was different. her eyes were bright green and her skin was almost sickly pale. she had freckles littered about her face. she was a lot to take in.
it shocked him how different she looked from her twin brother. he had bright red hair and dark eyes but her hair was pitch black and piercing green eyes.
"okay," she managed to finally get out. "i have some rules though."
"rules?" he threw his head back. "i don't really do rules."
"we get it, you're a bad boy," she rolled her eyes at him. "and yes i have rules. number one, we keep my dad out of this. he's been through a lot recently and i don't want to stress him out more," she waited for a sign be understood and when he nodded his head she continued. "number two, nothing too physical. i've never had a boyfriend before and i don't want all my firsts to be wasted on a boy-"
"like me?" he cut her off. "a serpent? a southsider?"
"who isn't actually my boyfriend," she finished, clearly annoyed.
"fine, but nobodies going to believe we're dating if i can't kiss you," he pointed out.
"you can kiss me, but i'm not doing anything more," she told him. "number three, you can't tell anyone this isn't real. if it got back to archie, neither of us would live to see another day."
"my lips are sealed," he said. "now if that's all..." he picked her up by her waist and gently placed her on the ground. "i think it's time we set the plan in motion," he gestured toward his bike.
"sure, but archie won't be home," she said as he placed the helmet on her head and messed with the straps.
"where will he be?" he got back on his bike and patted the space behind him.
"him and veronica go to pops every friday after school," she explained, carefully climbing on the bike. he grabbed her arms and placed them around his torso.
"then i guess i know where we're going," he started his bike. "hold on tight."
